FAB Holiday Makeover at The Jing Monis Salon

Thursday, January 10, 2013

My life in 2012 has been showered with so many prizes from the giveaways and contests that I joined. I'm always sharing my giveaway winnings because I also want my readers to join random giveaways and contests where I won. My relatives and friends always tell me how lucky I am. They sometimes ask me to join other contests like the lottery but this involves money and there's like a single probability that I will win. So moving on...

From all the contests and giveaways that I've joined, this was the grandest and the most fabulous of all. If you'll ask me why, this was my first time to have a makeover done in one of the most prestigious salon in the Philippines and it's also my first time to wear something that most celebrities wear in their crowning glory. Winning from Jing Monis Salon's like and share giveaway on Facebook was the bomb! Imagine yourself being pampered in a place where famous celebrities like Maxene Magalona and Judy Ann Santos, socialites and politicians entrust their hair and makeup services. I felt very special and princessy that day since this once in a lifetime experience truly made my day epic.

This post will be a lengthy one. I do hope you'll read it from the very start up to the last part because I'll be sharing important things that I learned from the makeover team. So are you guys ready? Let's start shall we?

Jing Monis Salon Makati, Greenbelt 1 branch is located at the 3rd floor above the cinemas. When I arrived there, I thought the salon's place was very small but when I stepped inside and welcomed by the receptionist, I was awed by the ambiance. The place was very quiet and I felt the homey environment with the warm welcome of the staffs.

And when I entered the other side of the room, there I saw all the staffs and crews that's very busy doing their clients hair and makeup. I was really surprised that the place was packed with their loyal customers having their holiday makeovers. Some were going to attend weddings while others were having their Christmas parties.

Goodbye dry and damage hair

Before the makeover, Ms. Joana Ballesteros PR and marketing manager explained to me the treatments and procedures for my makeover. She also introduced me to my makeover team: Mr. Fritz Almencion, Mr. Rigel Buna Tedor- creative stylists and Joyce Seludo- makeup artist. I learned so many things from them. I'm really overwhelmed and treated like their loyal customers unlike other salon staffs that were snooty, IMO. They are very friendly and approachable!!!

Say hello to my new haircut. My apologies for this haggard face, had no sleep when I went for my makeover :(

So here are the important points that I learned from Mr. Fritz. From his experience from other top salons in our country, I'm sure that his hair care advice is a must if we want to achieve the celebrity salon style hair :D Always make sure to have your haircut every 2 months. Trim the edges so to eliminate split ends thus having less frizzy hair. Hair can be damaged not only from the chemicals that we apply to them like shampoo, conditioners, gels, and DIY treatments.

Environmental pollution is also another factor. It is advisable to shampoo your hair 4 times a week so that natural hair oil will not be stripped off from your hair cuticles. It will also maintain the PH balance of your hair. Choose the right shampoo depending on your hair type. Like in my case, I need use shampoo and conditioner for color- treated hair since I have colored hair. Shampoo starting from the scalp to wash out chemical buildups and condition starting from the tips.

Other points we discussed were the common things for hair care like avoid tugging and using friction when towel dying your hair just let the natural air make it dry. Use umbrella and other protection for your hair from the damaging and drying effects of the sun and acid from the rain. Make sure to have your hair treatments every month to maintain the health of your tresses.

Toning down my hair color. From ash blonde, golden blonde to dark ash brown

Giving my hair all the boosts that it needed :) Thanks to the organic hair treatment made exclusively by Jing Monis Salon called Bonacure. They applied the total hair repair treatment here. My locks felt soft and smooth after. I love how it gave volume to my thin limp hair.

And before I forgot, he cut the dry ends of my hair and trimmed some parts as you can see on the photos above. After this he toned down the color of my hair from ash blonde/golden blonde to dark ash brown to match the color of my hair extensions. The last thing they did was applying the organic hair treatment (Bonacure)- total hair repair which Jing Monis Salon exclusively formulated for all types of hair problems.

DV hair pieces. The most gorgeous hair extensions that I've seen and now I'm owning one. I know this is expensive but worth the buy if you're planning to have one. This is made from human hair.

My hair extensions color is expresso, it's natural to medium brown shade.

It's very easy to use since this is a clip on type of hair extensions. They also have another type, the tape one. If I'm not mistaken, the latter is permanent, IMO.

After all these, the exciting part was the hair extensions. It's my first time to use this amazing hair pieces. The color is expresso and I was a bit unconscious at first because after years of being blondish, my hair color now is a bit dark. This real human hair extensions weighs a bit heavy since I'm not yet used to it but I really love wearing it!!! I love my makeover :) From the haircut, to the treatment to my extensions and the makeup. The makeover made me looked like my early 20's. Haha!

MUA- Joyce Seludo (a graduate from HD Makeup Studio and Academy)
Light smokey eyes for photoshoot.
Thank you so much Ms. Joyce, no wonder my makeup looks fab!!!
Mr. Fritz Almencion and Mr. Rigel Buna Tedor- creative stylists
Thank you so much guys!!!
The gorgeous PR and Marketing Manager Ms. Joana Ballesteros
Thank you so much for choosing me as the winner!!!

I highly recommend Jing Monis Salon! It's worth every peso you spent, you really get what you pay for. Aside from excellent service, you're treated like the most important person of all :D

November and December Hauls

Monday, December 31, 2012

Before the year ends, I would like to squeeze in pending posts from my November and December haul. Since I'm on a tipid mode, I only bought few products for the last two months. Some products here are my HG's while some were purchased just to try if they're worth of my tight budget.

Before the Glorietta Vibe fashion show walk, I decided to buy a makeup remover wipes that can melt waterproof mascara without using an eye makeup remover. I think it's more convenient than bringing a bottle of eye makeup remover and cotton balls during the event. I also bought this foot socks and nail polish remover wipes for my feet. The Mondes Ionic Keratin hair treatment was purchased out of curiosity. I'm not happy with the product, I develop pimples and wound like itchy flakes on my scalp. I guess I'm allergic to one of its ingredient but I don't know what to pinpoint :(
Foot socks
Tony Moly Floria Cleansing Tissues
Mondes Ionic Keratin Treatment
Wish Nail Polish Remover
I also bought a back up of my favorite makeup remover wipes- Purederm  just in case my skin will react to Tony Moly Floria makeup remover wipes. This soap was given by my SIL when I visited my parents house. I was surprise when I read the label that it's manufactured by Splash- a local company selling beauty and bath products. But this was only sold through their direct-selling line like that of AVON. So now Splash is also making it's way on direct-selling, let's wait and see if they'll make noise this 2013. You know how I love Asian Secrets, and based on my experience this body scrub already replaced my first love on Abonne. I find this more convenient to use and doesn't hurt my skin if I use the scrub everyday!

Asian Secrets Lulur Body Scrub
Seriously White Gluathione Soap
Purederm Makeup Cleansing Tisuues

My last haul for this year came from Snoe. Yay for new variants: Licorice and Organic Papaya :) I bought these two from a BOGO sale at Cinderella. The SA their informed me that they're having a sale so I grabbed the opportunity. I already reached my third month of using the black bleaching soap so I need to rest my skin from bleaching and use a milder one. When Ms. Jen of Snoe suggested the Special Kojic and Glutathione combo as a substitute for black bleaching I followed her and loving the results!

My sister just gave me this toner to try. At first I was hesitant because I find this toner too strong for my thin skin. But Janet's review of Eskinol convinced me to try this product. Let's see if this product will fare good on my skin.

Snoe White Lightening Licorice Beauty Bar
Snoe White Special Kojic with Glutathione Beauty Bar
Snoe White Organic Papaya Soap
Eskinol Spot-less White Facial Deep Cleanser

Product Review: Kerastase Reflection Chroma Riche Masque

Monday, December 03, 2012

Hi loves! How's your long weekend so far? Hope everyone's enjoying this long vacay. This review was scheduled yesterday but the fail blogger in me sits in and I forgot to schedule it on time. Bummer! Well, if my memory serves me right this is the first expensive hair treatment mask that I have to date. Since I have color-treated hair, it's very important to give it hair treatment every week so that it'll look shiny and soft to touch. I also wanted the color to last longer than usual and make it more vibrant so I really need to invest on hair treatments that's cost- effective.

I did not plan to invest on a whooping thousand plus pesos hair treatment product. I know there's a lot of commercial brands that will not break my bank. But if I have a chance to use an expensive one, then I grab the chance. Thanks to my luck on joining contests because I won this hair treatment that I considered a luxurious one! To tell you honestly, I really take advantage of this product since this is very pricey. I use this once a week and let the magic stays on my hair for more than 10 minutes even if the instructions says 5 :P I know it's so wrong not to follow instructions (I did it thrice) and good thing nothing bad happened to my hair.
I'm already half- way the tub. If only I can make this lasts the whole year so that every DIY treatment will be worth the price I'll do it. But nothing lasts forever so I'll just enjoy and cherish every moment I use this product on my locks. If you see my pictures and you noticed that my hair is tamed and the color is vibrant it only means that I've used this hair mask on my locks.

price: free

instructions for use: Use after shampooing, massage on hair and leave on for 5 minutes. Rinse hair after.

ingredients: Aqua/Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Amodimethicone, Cetyl, esters, Isopropyl Alcohol, Methylparaben, Trideceth-6, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Chlorhexidine Dihydrochloride, Centrimonium Chloride, Hexyl Cinnamal, Parfum/Fragrance.

What I like:
  • Classy packaging.
  • The scent- not overpowering.
  • A little goes a long way.
  • Gives my color-treated hair the shine it needs.
  • My hair feels soft and smooth after using this mask.
  • Easily accessible.
  • With batch and manufacturing date printed on the tub.
  • I didn't experienced any hair fall.
What I don't like:
  • Very pricey!!!
  • In a tub, a bit unhygienic to use if you just dip your fingers every after use.
Will I repurchase? Maybe, if I have the money to spend on a hair care product that really works why not. But as of the moment, I'll save my money first :)

Recommendation:
I give this a 4/5 rating. This hair masque gives my hair the boosts that it needed like softness and shine. The color of my hair stays vibrant after a month of using it once a week and there's a luminous effect after every wash. I love this product but the price is very steep for a cheapskate like me. But if you have the money, this is a very good buy for making your hair vibrant! It's ok to spend on luxurious treatment once in a while but if you're a cheapskate like me, I think there's a lot of cheaper hair mask treatment out there to try that can give the same results. If you want an affordable hair treatment product that works, I recommend you to try Lorys Snake Oil and Duo Chocolate variants ^^

Have you tried Kerastase hair treatment products? What's your favorite?

Product Review: Pure Beauty Treatment Conditioner

Friday, August 03, 2012

Hi loves! I think it's time to share my thoughts about this great hair product that is reasonably priced. I've known Pure Beauty Treatment shampoo and conditioner last year through GT forums and most ladies who tried it said that this is Shiseido Tsubaki shampoo and conditioner counterparts. I know that Shiseido's price tag was expensive for a cheapskate like me and I need to look for a cheaper alternative. Last year when I saw that Pure Beauty Treatment shampoo was on sale at Watsons I never hesitated and bought it immediately. I wanted to buy both the shampoo and conditioner but the SA said that the latter sells like hot pancakes. It's always out of stock. I admit that I had a hard time looking for this conditioner. It took months before I saw it on the shelves again.

I already found my HG conditioner Clairol Herbal Essences Color Me Happy that made my color-treated hair more healthy, shiny and vibrant. But I still wanted to try this conditioner because of the positive results that I read from beauty bloggers. So after three weeks of using this conditioner I've found another HG that I can use alternately with Color Me Happy conditioner. Wanna know why? Read more to see my full review.
Pure Beauty Treatment Conditioner is enriched with Camellia Seed Oil from Japan to help nourish and repair dry and damage hair. It also helps to strengthen each strand of hair, improving its elasticity for smoother and more manageable hair with an exceptional shine.

What I like:
  • The price- it's very affordable.
  • Has Camellia Seed Oil that's known to make hair softer and more manageable.
  • Pump-type bottle that dispenses right amount of product.
  • The scent is a bit powdery, not overpowering.
  • Makes my hair silky, smooth and shiny.
  • The scent lingers on my hair the whole day.
  • Gives a bit of volume on my thin limp hair.

Recommendation:
I give this a 4.5/5 rating. I love that this product makes my hair smooth and manageable. I only worry about the hair fall and I'm hoping that it will subside after using the entire bottle. But fret not because it's only a bit. Nothing big to worry about.

Have you tried Pure Beauty Treatment hair care line? What's your fave? Happy Friday guys!

My Recent Hair and Skin Care Haul

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Here's another haul post guys. Actually the first photo was purchased two weeks ago while the latter was bought yesterday. One of hubby's rest day is reserve for grocery and mini shopping day. We usually buy Kenzo's stuff at Sm Supermarket but this time we decided to go at Trinoma. I always enjoy our grocery time because Kenzo loves riding the push cart. When I saw those cute push carts at The Landmark grocery, I'm very excited for my son. So when we went their to buy our grocery, Kenzo's very eager to ride the push carts with kiddie ride thingy.

So here's what I bought two weeks ago: My second bottle of VMV Hypoallergenics Skin-Saving Antiperspirant Spray. Would you believe that my first bottle lasted for a year? I'm really in love with this product. I sweat a lot because it runs in the family. We have active sweat glands and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. I'm glad that I discovered this skin care line from VMV and will post my review soon. The price is a bit steep for an antiperspirant but one things for sure, it will really make you feel comfortable! I also bought the Pure Beauty Treatment Conditioner. I read somewhere that this hair treatment line from Pure Beauty is somehow a dupe of Shiseido's Pure Tsubaki Treatment Shampoo and Conditioner. I already made a review on Pure Beauty Treatment Shampoo and I love how it made my color treated hair smooth and shiny.
VMV Skin Saving Antiperspirant from- 420php to 380 php
Pure Beauty Treatment Conditioner with Camellia Seed Oil- 249.75
And here's what I got yesterday: Asian Secrets Lulur Body Scrub in Licorice and Mulberry Leaf Extract which I really love! I think it's my 5th or 6th tub now? I just, just love using this scrub. Then I purchased only one soap from All Organics- Calamansi which I really miss since I'm fond of using Snoe soaps lately but this doesn't mean that I totally forgot this brand. This is my first HG organic soap and will always have a very big place in my heart :)))
Asian Secrets Lulur Body Scrub- 130php
All Organics Calamansi Soap- 70 php
Reviews will be posted soon :D I need to make sure I use the product before making a review so please bear with me if it takes me weeks or months on sharing my thoughts. So that's all for now. Thanks for reading my blog and I hope you enjoyed my haul post. Have a great ahead!

Product Review: Camaru Naturals Camellia Oil

Saturday, July 28, 2012

I love this bed weather we have now. But I hate that I cannot enjoy it because we're on a graveyard shift! My son is still wide-awake enjoying his new coloring book. He just ate his dinner an hour ago. Sounds weird? Yes, it is weird for a toddler sleeping six or seven o'clock in the morning and I've mentioned his erratic sleeping pattern here in my blog the nth time. As much as I wanted to sleep, I need to stay alive and kickin' because I still have 3 hours to spend on mommy duties before going to dreamland. So to keep my mind active, I need to read something or write a blog post :D

First of all I want to congratulate myself for updating this blog everyday. I want to make this a habit, publishing one review or haul post a day. Next, I'm excited to share on my next post another batch of winnings from giveaways that I've joined. And finally, after three weeks of using this so called miracle oil I'm about to rave my skin's latest best friend :D

Using natural oils as moisturizer is not new to me. I've tried tea tree oil, emu oil, olive oil and sunflower oil before and I like the effects on my skin. If I'm writing my blog three years ago, prolly there's a written review here but the only review that I made was Human Heart Nature's Sunflower Beauty Oil. I love my GNC moisturizer. The Mosbeau All-in-one face cream somehow gave moisture and lightened some pimple marks on my face but I'm still on the hunt for something organic. I'm glad that Camaru Naturals Camellia Oil was included on the Everyday Essential Loot that I won from The Beauty Junkee. Does this mean the hunt is over? Well, read more to find out.

  • Does the job in moisturizing the skin.
  • Lessened fine lines around my eyes.

  • A little goes a long way.

  • Not sticky nor greasy and absorbs very quickly.
  • If I'll do the math, the price is affordable because it can lasts more than a month and performs as an all-in-one treatment.
What I don't like:
  • None!
Will I repurchase? Yes! Definitely after finishing the whole bottle which I think will last a long way.

Recommendations:
I give this a 4.755/5 rating! I love this product. It's truly a miracle oil :D I've tried different oils before and this one is at par the best in my honest opinion. I highly recommend this specially to those with dry and flaky skin. You can also use this as hair treatment to restore dry and damage hair. Always do a patch test before using or adding a new product on your skin care regimen. This way it'll be easier for you to determine the culprit if there's a negative reaction with your skin. Natural skin care products can cause allergic reactions too. I'm an organic junkie but still I get some negative reactions from certain organic products.

Have you tried natural oils as moisturizer? Care to share your experience? Have a great day head and stay safe!

Just Sharing

Saturday, July 14, 2012

O-M-G! It's end of season sale once again. I know it's crazy! I'm planning to lift my no buy mode (parang coding lang =P) hehehe! but here's my bipolar personality again. I would love to shop new clothes and shoes since the last time I bought a pair of flats was months ago. But I'm worried that I will regret buying those stuffs. It's weird, I know! I'm also confused what brand to buy. Most stylish items are on sale so this will make me go nuts! Even if I already made my shopping list that I restricted only to three items (THREE ONLY) I'm sure that I will ignore it most specially if the items that caught my eye is 70% off the tag. I'm an impulse buyer before. I hope I can resists the power of temptation. So before I go on bargain hunting later, I want to share this post so you know what to expect on my next reviews.

Please bear with me for the long introduction. If you can still remember my post about being lucky on giveaways, well thanks to my lucky charm because I also won from other giveaways that I joined. This GC is for my son Kenzo and the hubby who loves eating chicken and burger :D and oh, coffee float is enough for me.

Certified Foodies Giveaway
500PHP GC from Jollibee
My sister-in-law gave me this new product from AVON to review. She said this new hair treatment is on a special introductory price that's why she wanted me to give it a try. The hair treatment costs 199php. It's a steal because the shampoo is free.
AVON Advance Techniques 3D
This loot came from my sister. It's a way of saying thank you from asking a very important favor. She also saw this Tiny Buds baby powder at The Landmark baby section. At first I thought its for Kenzo but she told me to try it as finishing powder. When I read that it's made of real rice grains, I doubt it on keeping oilies at bay. But I have to road test it first, who knows this can be an HG material.
I will end my post here dearies! My allergies are still there but not as itchy as day 1 and 2. I'm just worried that it will leave marks. I accidentally scratched them while sleeping :(  So to those who are going to spend their day shopping, take care and relax! Enjoy your day.

Good Times!~
