ELLE Celebrates 70 Years of Style

Tuesday, October 13, 2015

One of the biggest international brands, ELLE, marks its 70th year, and here in the Philippines, the recent celebration was a chic fashion hurrah that showcased the iconic styles over the last seven decades along with the most in vogue styles of today.

The star-studded event was held at Mega Fashion Hall in SM Megamall. Showbiz power couples were present with their families and friends to witness this grand celebration. Everyone's so excited to see the little ones strut the runway. The event also showcased the latest collection of ELLE Philippines including the travel accessories, kids' wear this holiday season, and other timeless pieces that only ELLE can offer. More details about the celebration below ;)

The event was hosted by Nicole Andersson where the fashion fete featured an array of activities including the ELLE Exhibit, with prominent issues of the magazine together with the Kids and Juniors collections on display; and experiential areas where participants got to decorate their own shirts and shoes, take Instagram photos for printing as souvenirs, and learn more interesting trivia about the beloved brand.

Kids got to design their own ELLE shirt and shoes, and even had a meet and greet with the models at the mall event!
Celebrity stylist Alyanna Martinez also came out to give tips to parents and kids on appropriate and stylish dressing, particularly for the anticipated Fall/Winter season.

Via Venetto- A World Class Pinoy Shoe Brand

Tuesday, June 09, 2015

“World-class” has become a buzzword in today’s increasingly globalized economy. In a market that welcomes the influx of products from everywhere, only those with truly special offerings survive. Via Venetto is one such brand.

Founded in 1973, exporting to the United States of America, France and Singapore, Via Venetto is a company that draws upon a cherished shoemaking tradition in the Philippines – one carried on by families in the neighborhoods of Marikina and Liliw, even as cheap, low-quality shoes are being mass produced by the thousands in China and other Asian countries.

Amid the threat of growing competition, the people behind Via Venetto were unafraid to ask themselves: “How do we keep our shoes world-class?” The answer, it appears, lay in sticking to what the company has championed over the years: a strong commitment to quality, handcrafted craftsmanship, and solid support and appreciation of the highly skilled Filipino artisan.
Via Venetto- A World Class Pinoy Shoe Brand
The world-class brand takes pride in a four decade-old tradition of shoemaking by hand.
A trusted brand

Since its foray into the shoe business in 1973, Via Venetto has enjoyed a strong following among women of style, with its collection of shoes that are touted to be at par with the world’s finest. Not surprisingly, the brand has earned an iconic status in the Philippine shoe industry.

“Our clients have grown old with us, and it’s a matter of pride for us. We enjoy the trust of many lolas, moms and titas, and we are thankful for that,” reveals Ms. Ging Pajaro, President of Via Venetto. Ging shares that the brand’s designs also cater to teens, women aged 25 to 35, young executives, upward mobile young professionals and the daughters, pamangkins, and apos of their patrons of many, many years.

Via Venetto has since launched new shoe collections that are set to catch the eye of the younger set. Now gracing their racks at Greenbelt, Glorietta, Ayala Town Center, SM Megamall, and Trinoma are ballerina flats and loafers in a variety of shades, as well as platforms, classic pumps, sandals, slingbacks, wedges, and mules with trendy woven, in glittery leathers, snakeskin, patent and new fashion finishes.

These handmade beige Santanina sandals are crafted using fine Italian and European leathers.
Via Venetto’s stylish black Johanna mules are made of stunning kidskin leather.
Via Venetto’s chic and elegant designs suit women of style.
While they now sport a contemporary look, somehow the shoes still embody Via Venetto’s distinct aesthetic: made of fine Italian and European leathers, classy, and durable. After all, behind each pair is the brand’s 40 year-tradition of shoemaking.

Fatto a Mano

Via Venetto takes pride in a 39-step process of shoemaking by hand (or in Italian, fatto a mano), a practice inspired by some of the world’s most renowned brands and perfected by the company for over four decades.
Via Venetto- A World Class Pinoy Shoe Brand
Each pair of Via Venetto shoes is the result of a painstaking 39-step process of shoemaking by hand, or in Italian, fatto a mano.

  • Crafting shoes at the Via Venetto factory in Marikina begins with the conceptualization of a shoe design, as well as its translation into a working pattern. This is followed by the cutting, preparation, and closing of the upper, during which the leather is cut by hand or a machine, folded, and sewn together.
  • The shoemaker will then prepare the counter, outsole, insole, heel, and toplift, which are skived (cut into thin layers), buffed (smoothed), pressed, cemented, and nailed, before they are placed inside shoe lasts or wooden molds. After the lasting comes the attachment of the sole and heel.
  • Finally, the shoes undergo buffing, painting, polishing and cleaning, to the shoe tree for quality control, and are placed in boxes for distribution to stores, where they are sure to be ogled, touched and tried on by enthusiastic customers.

World-class

In the face of the tougher competition brought by the onslaught of cheaper, imported shoes and knock-offs, Ging and the rest of the people behind Via Venetto are unperturbed.

“At Via Venetto, we have always stayed true to our cherished tradition of superior craftsmanship and our use of only the world’s finest leathers to make high-quality shoes. Hindi pwede ang pwede na (We do not suffice with make-do). It is this tradition which earned us a loyal patronage through the years, and which will enable us to keep our leadership and special place in the hearts of our clients and in Philippine shoe market,” Ging explained.

With a solid handcrafted shoemaking tradition, a devoted – and growing – following, and an innovative vision for the brand, Via Venetto is truly set to conquer greater heights, one step (of a superbly-crafted shoe) at a time.

Florsheim Philippines Return to Classics Launch

Sunday, May 17, 2015

Classic never go out of style, do you believe that? Raise you hand if your answer is a resounding yes! I always hear my father that a white ensemble from head to toe is his definition of going back to classics. Wearing all white for him never go out of style. For me, a classic piece of clothing that will always be in my closet is a pair of jeans. How do you define classic?

Weeks ago, I was invited to Florsheim Philippines Return to Classics Launch. The event was held at the newly opened branch of Florsheim in Ayala Fairview Terraces. During the event, top regional executive of Florsheim, Mr. Eric Leung, shared to us that the brand sees their relevance in the Filipino market because more than fashion, quality tops the heart of a Filipino consumer in choosing the right kind of footwear to buy. Highlights of the event after the jump. Scroll down please :)
Florsheim Philippines Return to Classics Launch
Florsheim, established back in 1892, is a leading international footwear brand present in the US, Europe, Central and South America and in Asia, with stores in glitzy and glamorous locations such as New York, Milan, Sydney, Dubai, and Hong Kong. It is also present in China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Philippines and will soon open its first store in Nepal. Popular Florsheim products include Royal Imperial, Imperial, Florsheim Regular, Comfortech and Sports and Casual.

Mr. Leung explained to us important points on Florsheim's products and what are the trends for men and women this 2015. Leung further narrates his impression of the discerning taste of Filipinos when it comes to footwear products. For classic brands like Florsheim, loyal customers are maintained by making sure the classic styles remain relevant and updated. New customers are gained with the development of new styles which come in different colors. Florsheim enjoys consumer preference mainly because it supplies the need of consumers for the basic and the new – produced with premium quality raw materials and meticulous product development.

But unfortunately, the sizes left on display were too big for me. The prints on this dress are the starships, cruisers, battleships and other spacecraft in the Star Wars movie.

OOTD: Pahiyas Festival

Saturday, August 24, 2013

Here's a super late OOTD post. I was emptying my recycle bin yesterday and saw these outfit photos from our summer vacation at Lucban, Quezon. We stayed there for three days and luckily was able to celebrate one of the grandest festival in our country- The Pahiyas Festival. Have you seen colorful leaf shape decorations on television ads or from random things? Those leaf shape designs are called Kiping. It's made of malagkit/sticky rice and shaped into leaves symbolizing bountiful harvest. Pahiyas Festival is celebrated every 14th of May in honor of St. Isidore for giving farmers rich and bounty harvest throughout the year.

Since it's summer, I opted to wear something very light and comfortable from head to toe! And because the highlight of the celebration was to roam around the town to see houses decorated with colorful and awesome kipings, I decided to wear my super comfy sandals.

OOTD: Black and Blue Urban Chic

Friday, February 15, 2013

Hello! Belated Happy Valentine's Day :) I hope all of you had a blast yesterday. Before I start laying out the details of my outfit, I just wanna thank ze hubby for making hearts day extra special.

If you follow me on Instagram, I'm sure you've already seen this ensembles. This is what I wore during the L'Oreal Professionnel Steampod Launch. The attire should be black and blue urban chic and these colors perfectly matches the Steampod. I'll just make this intro short, my mind is floating got only 4 hours of sleep :( Please leave a comment if you have questions. Thank you for understanding :D Special thanks to Aya of Codename Aya for these lovely photos!

OOTD: Puss in Boots

Sunday, January 27, 2013

Hellos! This is my first outfit post of the year :) Thank you very much to Kai of Brew of the Day for taking my outfit shots. Remember that I'm very shy to take outfit shot in public? I'm 10x times more shy here when we did my outfit shot because it was taken inside the Landmark Trinoma but it's okay since almost all we're rushing home so there's only a couple of shoppers walking and they didn't even bother to look on what we're doing =P

I wore this outfit 3 weeks ago when I met-up and had dinner with blogger friends. I look haggard and tired in this photo, right? And look at my tummy, it's bloated like the cat in Puss in Boots hence the title of this OOTD. Blame it on Christmas and New Year's celebration and some post holiday gatherings. There's also 3 birthdays in our family after new year including my birthday! Insert the holiday weight gain here. Whew!

OOTD: Taken 2

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

I was one of the lucky winner to Nuffnang PH's Preserving Mankind with Kojie.san Men blog contest. I won two tickets to the especial screening of Taken 2 last October 5, 2012 that was held at Shangrila Cineplex 1. Days before the said event, I was very clueless what to wear since I'm very lazy that week to dress up. I decided to wear something laid back with my old pair of jeans and a comfy shirt then just added a blazer so that my outfit will somehow look chic.
