Herbalife Nutrition E-Wellness Tour on Inner and Outer Nutrition

Saturday, May 29, 2021

Have you ever wondered why you easily get tired as the years go by? I think it's common for both men and women in their late 30's to experience changes in the biological functions of the body. When I was in my 20's I feel so energized even if I only have less than six hours of sleep. I can think normally and don't feel exhausted doing hour chores from day til night. Fast forward today, I'll be turning 40 soon and even if I have a restful sleep at night, my body tells me to take a nap mid-afternoon or when it's dinner time. I also noticed that my appetite goes up and down depending on my hormonal cycle.

As the body ages, it undergoes many changes and so does the nutrition it needs. While a balanced diet and an active lifestyle are important at any age, there are challenges specific for each age that need to be addressed. In the most recent Herbalife Nutrition E-Wellness Tour, Susan Bowerman, Senior Director, Worldwide Nutrition, Education and Training of Herbalife Nutrition, and Laura Chacon-Garbato, Chairwoman of the Outer Nutrition Advisory Board of Herbalife Nutrition, shared how eating habits and lifestyle choices can affect our body and skin. Sharing some highlights of the event that you need to know and understand after the jump!

It has been two years since the day that I decided to commit to a healthy lifestyle and to be able to do this, there are so many factors that I needed to consider. One of the most important things is to have a healthy relationship with food. I believe in the saying that "You are what you eat" and in order for me to stay on what is considered a healthy, proper, and nutritious diet, I have to lessen or drop one thing- SUGAR!!!

It's really, genuinely so hard especially for someone who has been indulging in cakes, pastries, chocolates, coffees, milk teas, and other treats loaded with sugar since the time of his or her existence. Another reason why sugar is a big part of my diet because we are a family of bakers. I was born and raised by bakery owners. From the time I opened my eyes, all the yummy and sweet treats were already in sight. Who can say no to the smell of freshly baked bread from day until night?! So yes, growing up eating slices of bread, cakes, pastries, and other foods with sugar or high sugar content is really hard to avoid. Too much sugar in my diet has negative effects so finding an alternative or a substitute is a must and this is where I discovered STEVIA. High Protein Low-Calorie Milk Brands in the Philippines

Saturday, September 05, 2020

Milk is one of my favorite drinks. It's packed with important nutrients like calcium, phosphorus, B vitamins, potassium, vitamin D, and an excellent source of protein. ⁣Drinking milk and dairy products may prevent bone fractures, osteoporosis, and even help you maintain a healthy weight.⁣
I usually combine a glass of milk to my Herbalife Formula 1 Shake for added creaminess and protein. In order for me to achieve the required protein amount based on my macronutrient count or macros, (protein is very hard for me to achieve with just eating alone) I incorporate this muscle gainer daily in my drinks too. Can you guess my top 2 fave milk brands in the photo below? Sharing a short feature and review of the milk brands that I highly recommend if you're into weight loss and building muscle after the jump!

Every parent wants the best for their child that's why in the early stage of child development, we give utmost importance to every aspect of their life. We don't stop worrying about different issues that will arise as they grow every single day. From nutrition, education, health, and socialization, we always make sure that these aspects of life are well-taken care of. My family's health is non-negotiable that's why I make sure that my son is eating right. My husband cooks a wide variety of go, grow, and glow foods that are highly recommended for Kenzo's growth and development.

Speaking of grow foods, I make sure that he still drinks the daily recommended servings of milk every day and my recent discovery is a promising brand. Arla Foods, one of the world’s leading farmer-owned cooperatives and also known as the world’s largest producer of organic dairy products, marks a significant milestone as it expands its footprint in Asia with its entry in the country.  Now, Filipino families can enjoy the delicious and nutritious taste of Arla Organic Powdered Milk Drink as it hits grocery shelves nationwide.

In times where health is our number one priority, lifestyle modification is essential. According to nature.com, lifestyle modification involves altering long-term habits, typically of eating or physical activity, and maintaining the new behaviour for months or years. This can be used to treat a range of diseases, including obesity. I'm pretty sure that if there's one thing everyone would like to change or adjust, it is their eating habits especially the staples- rice and bread.

Cutting on carbs but can’t drop that bread on your diet? If you follow me on Instagram, I’ve said in my previous post that we have a bakery before, and during those times, gluten-free and sugar-free bread has hefty price tags way, way back and the supply is limited. If you’re health-conscious, have diabetes and other medical conditions that require a Gluten-free diet or someone who swears by Keto, luck is on your side because Hearty Bread takes out all the guilt in indulging on your favorite go food. Join me in another healthy food trip as I share more information about Hearty Bread after the jump:)

Boost the Body’s Immunity Through Nutrition

Friday, April 17, 2020

The 2019 novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, has taken the world by surprise with its highly infectious nature and mortality rate. What’s most concerning is that while we know that COVID-19 is part of a large family of viruses that include Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV), there are many traits of this virus that we have yet to uncover, such as the dynamics of transmission. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it could take up to 18 months for the first COVID-19 vaccines to be made publicly available. Only an approved drug can treat or cure, or prevent the transmission of, COVID-19 and other diseases. In the absence of any vaccine to date, we are left with practical prevention measures, such as maintaining proper hygiene, wearing a mask when necessary, or maintaining social distancing. It may also be useful to keep our bodies strong, so that our immune systems function well.

After all, our immune system is one of the most effective forms of defense against viral infections. There are two categories of immune functions in everyone’s body – the innate immunity which prevents diseases from entering the body and adaptive immunity which eliminates or prevents the growth of pathogens, such as viruses and bacteria, in our body. However, increasing the body’s immunity is not as straightforward as it sounds. There remains much about the immune system that researchers are still working to understand, but what we do know is the tangible connection between the immune system and nutrition.
