The Ups and Downs of Motherhood

Monday, May 13, 2024

In this motherhood journey, I learned and still learning the ups and downs every single day. When I discovered that I was pregnant with my only child, fears, worries, and questions kept swirling on my mind. Growing up in a big family, I said to myself that despite the challenges and hardships that will come along the way, I have my mother and my family who will always be there to support me.

Lo and behold, when I gave birth to Kenzo, the first person that guided me on what and what not to do was my mother. She gave instructions, reminders, and advises on minor mishaps and how to handle them. My sister-in-law was also there to check me from time to time. It's a very challenging role for first time mothers to do all the tasks by herself. From staying up late in the wee hours of night to check if  it's time to change the diaper, to feed a crying baby, and to find ways on how to tame a colic-y one. But all these sacrifices are worth it seeing the baby smile and feel loved through the gestures of this precious one. A decade and a half has passed and I'm still experiencing the ups and downs of motherhood but I'm loving the journey. Indeed,  “There’s no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one.” —Jill Churchill. Sharing more why there are no “on/of” and “pause” mode on motherhood after the jump.

Jollibee Family Thanksgiving Month this May

Friday, April 30, 2021

One of the many things I'm thankful for despite the challenging times brought about by the pandemic is the time I'm spending with my family. Because we are always at home, I've seen the good and the bad every single day. It's an opportunity to know them better and learn from them. Time spent with the family is the heart of the message that Jollibee wants to convey as it launches the Jollibee Family Thanksgiving Month celebration this May.

Through the Jollibee Family Thanksgiving Month, the country’s number one fast-food chain aims to start a new tradition to enjoin everyone to openly and actively express their gratitude towards their family and loved ones. I was invited to the launch via a virtual presscon last April 29, headlined by its long-time Jollibee endorser Anne Curtis who was officially introduced as the campaign’s ambassador. More stories about this after the jump!

We can bet nobody told you how tasking baby care is, especially for new parents. Even though experience makes it a little better, each baby is different, and not every trick works. Taking care of a sick baby is an extreme sport, but what happens when you're the one with a failing system?

AIA Philam Life Med-Assist for Children

Wednesday, September 16, 2020

I just realized that life insurance is essential when my father was in and out of the hospital a few years ago. It never crossed my mind that I'll be needing it too for my family especially for my child. In this time of uncertainty, protection from financial burden in time of sickness is non-negotiable and getting one today is the key to peace of mind among others.

It's true that for most parents, getting medical insurance for their child rarely crosses their minds. The more pressing matter, especially for first time parents, are immediate physical needs. But the truth is, a child’s medical needs can be costly, and with 54% of health expenses coming from the household budget, this can be a burden to many.
