Product Review: Essence Stays No Matter What 24h Waterproof Eyeliner Pen

Sunday, December 15, 2013

Hello, Happy Sunday to all! I'm back with another review. I miss sharing product reviews and I know I owe you a lot. So for today, I'll be sharing a review of another eyeliner that was sent to me by Essence Philippines months ago. It's actually my prize from their Facebook fan page contest. I was very lucky that day because I'm the last sharer of the contest photo then I was tagged by my sister that I won two products from them Essence Stays No Matter What 24h Waterproof Eyeliner Pen and Essence All About Curl Mascara that I'll be reviewing on my next post.

If you're a long time reader of this blog, I've shared my love-hate relationship with eyeliner pens. The first eyeliner pen that I've tried was ELF and that eyeliner pen gave me a very horrible experience. If you want to read my review click HERE. Another eyeliner pen was from a local brand and I'm happy that it gave me positive results. So now here's another eyeliner pen that I think was one of the best that I've tried so far. I have a not so oily lids that's why I don't use eye primer when applying this eyeliner. If you want to know my thoughts about this product click CONTINUE READING to find out!

Product Review: BYS Automatic Eye Pencil in 04 Super Soft Black

Friday, July 12, 2013

This product is an impulse buy but I have no regrets buying it because it was actually a good buy! I'm not a fan of black liners. I find the color too off because I look mataray (snobbish) from the black eyeliners that I've tried before. I'm not sure if that's only my perception when I apply black eyeliner on my eyelids but I always doubt when it's black. I always say to myself  that it's not for me. If there are two things that I regard as my weapon to look simply pretty, that probably the lipstick and eyeliner. I don't know why I got hooked with eyeliners lately. Maybe it's because I noticed my eyelids look different from each other and to mask that I need to apply eyeliners may it be brown-my fave or black. Okay, a NEW fave :)

So in search of my HG black eyeliner, I secretly spying on three brands whenever I go window shopping at malls around my area. Every time I swatch a gel or pencil eyeliner, I always have doubts inside my head. Aside from the brand, I always check the price. As I've said on the the very first paragraph of this post, it's an impulse buy. It happened months ago when I dropped by at Watsons Sm Fairview just to replenish my stock of Purederm Makeup Remover Wipes. The SA approached me and said she wanted to try their eyeliner on my eyelids since I'm not wearing my fave Choco eyeliner from Virginia Olsen that day. I was convinced because I saw a lady who just bought this and purchased three different colors. Well, I should thank her if ever we'll cross our paths again because my impulse buy is really worth it!
BYS Automatic Eye Pencil in 04 Super Soft Black
This automatic wind up eyeliner pencil makes for easy and handy application. Black is the must have shade and with a slightly harder lead will create fine lines and definition.

Product Review: Nichido Minerals Spot Concealer

Saturday, March 09, 2013

It's weekend, any plans for today? My apologies for not posting lately, our internet connection is acting up and it's really weird because the internet service provider said that the line is okay. Anyhoo, I mentioned in my previous post that I'm currently testing new products and so far I'm loving them. The first one is Eskinol and this one that I'm going to review is becoming another favorite too.  Aside from the main use of this product as spot concealer, I also use this to brighten my eyes by lining my waterlines. I feel naked whenever I live the house if I didn't apply this. I only sleep for an average of 4-5 hours a day, my eyes always look tired. When I use this product I get compliments that I look fresh and glowing.

Will just make the introduction short. I seldom use this product as spot concealer that's why the photos below shows what it looks like when applied to my waterline. And before I forgot, Nichido is a local brand selling affordable makeups and beauty tools.

Nichido Minerals Spot Concealer

I've written my name here to see if this shade matches my skin tone.

Used on my waterline, see the difference from the photo above? I applied concealer on my undereye here.
size: 0.04 oz. / 1.14g

price: 139 php (Around $ 3.40+)

place bought: Health and Beauty Section, Sm Fairview

ingredients: Contains Silica, Mica and Zinc Oxide
What I like:
  • Affordable.
  • The texture is okay and blendable if I use this as spot concealer.
  • It's not creamy and I'm surprise that doesn't tug my when concealing small pimples.
  • Covers minor imperfection such as pimple marks and blends well on my skin.
  • It glides smoothly on my waterlines that's why a line or two is enough and the color will already show.
  • Doesn't irritate my eyes, no sting and redness.
  • Stays more than 5 hours on my waterlines.
  • Brightens tired eyes when used as liner on waterlines.
What I don't like:
  • There's a slight pink undertone.
  • Smudges a bit but it's not obvious because of the color.
Will I repurchase? Yes!

Recommendation:
I give this a 4.75/5 rating. This product acts as 2 in 1 product that's why I find this affordable. If you still remember my review on Shawill Eyeliner Pencil, you can say that Nichido performs well and the color isn't that obvious unlike white or silver eyeliner pencils. But before using this product on your waterlines, test it first on by lining a very small portion of your waterline and observe if you feel any discomforts. If irritation occurs, better stop using this product as eyeliner and just use it as spot concealer after all this is intended to conceal blemishes.

Do you use eyeliner to brighten your eye? I highly appreciate your suggestions dearies ^_^

Product Review: Virginia Olsen Minerals Choco Eyeliner

Saturday, December 22, 2012

Hi! I'm back after a week of feeling the holiday depression thingy where I just wanted to stay at home and think of nothing. Well, it's hormonal I guess because after my monthly visit the feeling just flown away. I feel the holidays now! So let's start celebrating this season with good vibes and by that I want to share my happy thoughts on my first mineral makeup experience. I really want to share this review because I know most of us use pencil, liquid or gel type of eyeliner. If you're thinking that loose pigments like this will not give you the good color pay-off that you're looking for an eyeliner then think twice. This baby gives amazing results!
Virginia Olsen Minerals eye colour has been produced with a high density of mineral makeup ingredients, so a little goes a long way. These natural cosmetics can be used interchangeably as eyeliner, highlighter, or eyeshadow.

Product Review: San San Waterproof Eyeliner Pen with Vitamins A, C & E

Tuesday, May 01, 2012

Hi lovelies! I'm sooo lazy these past few days. It's really hot everywhere. I can't concentrate on doing simple household chores and easily get pissed off with my son's naughtiness. I need to stay calm and some window shopping can stop my temperament from rising.

So today I wanna share some insights on my new eyeliner pen. If you're a follower of my blog, prolly you know that I made a rant on E.L.F. Eyeliner Pen. After that experienced, I veered away from all the pen eyeliner that I saw at Watsons and Sm Department store beauty section. I said to myself that I'll just stick to my San San gel liner and will try out other brands after I finished it. Luckily, my youngest sister gave me this eyeliner pen from San San that she bought on sale. I have positive review on their gel liner and I know this product will not fail me.

size: 0.07 fl.oz. / 2.0ml

price: 85php- on sale (Around $2.00)

place bought: HBC store, Sm Fairview

ingredients: Aqua, Styrene Acrylates Copolymer, Polyglyceryl-3 Distearate, Retinyl Palmitate  (Vitamin A), Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Propyl Paraben, CI 77491, CI 77499, CI 77492,CI 77891

What I like:
  • Simple packaging and there's a color indicator below the pen
  • Affordable
  • Complete details listed on the packaging with batch, manufacturing and expiry date
  • The pen tip is not dry and the shape is great for beginners to practice thin and thick lines
  • Glides easily
  • Color pay off is good
  • Dries quickly after lining my eyes
  • Easy to remove using my facial wipes
  • No raccoon eyes
What I don't like:
  • Always OOS! I already went to 5 HBC stores to get a backup and wasn't able to get one
  • Not rub proof and smudge proof
Will I repurchase? Yes! I already considered this as my to-go eyeliner pen

Recommendation:
I give this a 4/5 rating. After losing hope on my first eyeliner pen experience, I think I'm going back to try other brands. For ladies with oily eyelids, you can put eye primer first to avoid smudging. Since the weather is really hot, it is better to place the eyeliner in a cooler place to avoid drying out. Always replace cap after use and store it upside down.

That's all for now! What's your favorite eyeliner pen? Thanks for sharing.

Eye Makeup Essentials

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

Hello lovelies! I just want to share something that is very essential to me. I call this my eye makeup. Can I call this such sans the eyeshadow? Well for me, yes. Since I don't put eyeshadow even on special occasions, these things somehow makes my puffy eye bags less noticeable and my not so oily lids at bay. To complete my look, I use mascara and fill the gaps of my brows with eyebrow wax and powder.
I'll be posting my reviews on the first three listed above soon. Reviews are already posted just click the links below the photo. As of now, I'm trying to learn how to apply basic eye makeup suited for daytime work. I'll be working few months from now so I have to cope with some major adjustments at home and in my work place. This will be my first "real job" after graduating years ago. It's a long story and a bit frustrating but I can share it to you on a separate post if I have the guts to one of these days.

Any suggestions for budget friendly eye makeups e.g. undereye concealer, eyelid primer, eyeliner and eyeshadows? Thanks for sharing!

Product Review: Shawill Eyeliner Pencil in White 006

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

If there's one thing I envy with Korean Actresses and K-Pop stars, it's all about their eye makeup. I'm fond of looking their cute faces with their winged eyeliners, glittery eyes and sparkling tear liners. I love how these eye makeups make their eyes so gorgeous, big and bright. I also want to make my peepers look like them but I know it will be very hard for me since my makeup stash is small. I need to save money to buy those eye makeups and my last resort is an eyeliner for my water lines. I opt to buy this because I read in one blog that white, silver and grey eyeliner can also make the eye bigger and brighter if used in the water lines.

But the search for my very first eyeliner in white gave me feeling of dismay. I will just make a short review on this eyeliner pencil.
Shawill Eyeliner Pencil in White 006
price: 69php (Around $1.50)

place bought: Shawill Counter, TriNoma

Shawill Eyeliner Pencil in White 006
Shawill Eyeliner Pencil in White 006
Shawill Eyeliner Pencil in White 006
Swatched more than 5 times to show the color

What I like:
  • Cute packaging- there are crystals around the case for that feminine touch.
  • I consider this cheap since it costs below 100 pesos.
  • Two products in one- there's an eyebrow brush on the other end of the eyeliner.
What I don't like:
  • The color payoff is poor- I need to swatch it 5 times for the color to pop.
  • Has zero lasting power.
  • It smudges on lash line.
  • It hurts to apply on waterline, it irritates my eyes.
Will I repurchase? No

Recommendation:
I give this a 2/5 rating. What more to say? It's cheap so I guess you get your money's worth.
I think I'm on the hunt again for a good but affordable eyeliner in white, silver or beige.

Can you recommend a good eyeliner that's creamy and glides easily?I highly appreciate your recommendations. Thanks a lot for sharing!

Haul: Bath Essentials plus Makeup Stuff

Thursday, November 17, 2011

Another haul after visiting Asian Eye Institute at TriNoma. It's crazy that all sales are everywhere! TriNoma is also having a sale of up to 70% till the end of the month. I want to congratulate my self for not spending too much yesterday. Mall sales can be tempting for a cheapskate like me and I have to stop myself from buying because I'm saving for something expensive.

Anyhoo, I bought 3 soaps from All Organics, a white eyeliner, a body scrub and a substitute for my facial wipes which is OOS again. My favorite facial wipes is Neutrogena. Since I ran out of my wipes, I have to purchase Nivea instead.

L-R: All Organics Calamansi Soap, Papaya with Glutathione Soap, A Bonne' Spa White C Salt,
Shawill Eyeliner and Nivea Visage Cleansing Wipes

I will be reviewing A Bonne' Spa White C Salt Scrub on my next post. This is my HG body scrub and been using it for more than a year now. I will also share my thoughts on Nivea facial wipes and Shawill eyeliner. I need to practice lining my waterlines before making a review on Shawill eyeliner.

What's your latest haul?Happy Wednesday everyone!

Product Review: San San Gel Eyeliner with Vitamin E

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

After ranting over my E.L.F. Eyeliner Pen on my last post, this gel eyeliner saves the day!

A few months ago, I've been searching for San San Eyeliner Pen but it's always OOS. I saw this gel liner many times but I ignored it. Since I'm just starting to draw lines on my eyelid few months ago, I'm satisfied with liquid eyeliner and eyeliner pen. So when I dropped by at HBC SM Fairview branch, it was on sale so I dig in. I think it's time to try gel liner, eh?

I bought color brown, black is always OOS according to the SA and looks harsh on me.

  • It's easy to apply, glides smoothly on my eyelids.
  • It's affordable or should I say cheap!
  • The color payoff is okay.
  • Has Vitamin E.
  • Doesn't irritate my eyes.
  • Easy to remove, I use my facial wipes no need for makeup remover.
  • Simple packaging that comes with a decent brush.
  • There's a manufacturing and expiry date.
  • Easily accessible in all HBC stores.
What I don't like:
  • Not rub/smudge-proof.

Recommendation:
I give this a 5/5 rating. It's perfect for a newbie like me. I think this can be a HG material so I have to test and use it for one month. As for the price, it's really a steal! Since I just stay at home most of the time, a jar will last me a long time.

Do you use gel liners? What brand can you recommend?Have a great day ahead!
