What's in my Kikay Kit

Tuesday, August 07, 2012

Hi dearies! How's everyone lately? It's been raining all day and night. I hope and I pray for our safety. Even though I'm rarely watching news about current events, I still feel there are families who suffers from the calamities bought by these typhoons and heavy rains.
Anyhoo, I noticed that I haven't posted anything about my recent makeup stash. The last one I think was the Eye Makeup Essential post. To tell you honestly, I rarely wear makeup these days. I feel more comfortable with my skin now and I think I really need to feel comfortable with it. Makeup only enhances my features and I don't want to wear makeup just because I want to hide my flaws. But there were times that I cannot control my breakouts. It's really hormonal and our humid weather also adds a factor to it. So when my skin is acting up, I feel uncomfortable with it. I feel the need to add a heavy duty concealer for pimple marks and a full coverage bb cream. I mentioned before that I'm a late bloomer when it comes to makeup and it really shows with my makeup stash. From the time that I started lurking in forums and here in blogosphere to read and compare reviews, these were the only thing that I purchased and accumulated. Most of the products here are my HG.
I only have one makeup/ kikay kit :D I don't bring this with me when I'm going to attend events or outside the house for some errands. This always sits in my closet and I'll just bring two things with me (lip balm and lip cream) and place it inside my bag.
Silver Pouch from Watson's

2. Majolica Majorca jeweling eye pencil- used once

My makeup must haves: BB cream and/or Powder Foundation+ Undereye concealer+Eyeliner+eyebrow powder+ mascara and I'm good to go. If I feel like I want to glam up my face, I'll add the blush and the jeweling eyeliner. For the lips, I just swipe some lip balm: Carmex, EOS or Human Heart Nature and/or my favorite N.Y.X Addis Ababa soft matte lip cream for a touch of color.

Basically that's it loves. So what's inside your makeup kit? Share it away guys :D

Product Review: Garnier Light BB Eye Roll-On

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

If there's one thing I hate when I wake up in the morning and I looked in the mirror: my under eyes-ze eye bags that is dark and puffy. This is the obvious reason if you haven't completed your sleep or should I say the wake-up-sleep-wake-up pattern. I don't know how to call it sorry for the term XD. The only reason I always experience sleepless nights is due to my son's sleeping pattern. I know, I've mention this before on my blog posts and it's like the nth time that I'll brag about it. Both hubby and I wanted to change this erratic sleeping pattern of our son but again, it keeps on adjusting every week. My son is lucky even though he's wide awake at night and sleeping on a hot summer day, his eye bags are still the same. My eyes are the ones suffering from dark circles and puffiness.

I always hide my dark under eyes with a concealer. But the problem with some concealers that I've tried creases big time with my fine lines when not set properly. There's also a time when the concealer is very obvious and looks unnatural. It's time consuming and bank breaking for a cheapskate like me to have a separate concealer and eye setting powder. If I'll go out to do errands, I just put my makeup in five minutes. So having a decent concealer that's budget-friendly will be the prefect solution for a practical mom like me.

Thank you Garnier for bringing bb cream into an under eye roll-on. The moment I saw this product at Watson's last December, I decided to bring it home. Of course I paid for it :D After six months of daily usage, here's another keeper!

Swatch on my hand, this time with flash on. Consistency is creamy and easy to blend.
THE FOLLOWING PHOTOS WERE TAKEN IMMEDIATELY UPON WAKING UP :D
Garnier Light BB Eye Roll-OnThe flash is soo reflective, I hope you can still see the problem area including my freckles.
Garnier Light BB Eye Roll-On
After using the roll-on under my eyes, eyelids and a small amount near my freckles.
Garnier Light BB Eye Roll-On
Tada!!! Bright under eye and partially concealed my freckles.
What I like:
  • The price- for a cheapskate like me, it's budget-friendly.
  • Easy peasy application because of the roller ball technology.
  • Instantly brightens my under eye.
  • Can conceal minor imperfections surrounding my eyes.
  • The product spreads easily and gives a natural look.
  • There's a relaxing feel after each application because of the metal roller ball.
  • Works for most skin tone, I tried this on my sister who has a medium skin tone.
  • There's a batch and manufacturing date printed on the box
  • No overpowering scent.
  • Easily accessible
What I don't like:
  • The packaging- it is housed in an opaque plastic, I can't see how many product is left inside.
  • There were times that I cannot control how much product the roller ball dispenses.
  • May crease if I forgot to moisturize the skin around my under eye.
Will I repurchase? Yes!!!

Recommendation:
I give this a 5/5 rating. Even though there were times that it settle in my fine lines, I still love it.   It's not noticeable so I don't need to worry. If you have very dark under eyes, I suggest you to use your heavy duty concealer first.

Have you tried using Garnier products? Share your thoughts! Take Care, Garnier :D

Eye Makeup Essentials

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

Hello lovelies! I just want to share something that is very essential to me. I call this my eye makeup. Can I call this such sans the eyeshadow? Well for me, yes. Since I don't put eyeshadow even on special occasions, these things somehow makes my puffy eye bags less noticeable and my not so oily lids at bay. To complete my look, I use mascara and fill the gaps of my brows with eyebrow wax and powder.
I'll be posting my reviews on the first three listed above soon. Reviews are already posted just click the links below the photo. As of now, I'm trying to learn how to apply basic eye makeup suited for daytime work. I'll be working few months from now so I have to cope with some major adjustments at home and in my work place. This will be my first "real job" after graduating years ago. It's a long story and a bit frustrating but I can share it to you on a separate post if I have the guts to one of these days.

Any suggestions for budget friendly eye makeups e.g. undereye concealer, eyelid primer, eyeliner and eyeshadows? Thanks for sharing!

My New Baby + HG Under Eye Concealer and a facial wipes substitute

Monday, January 09, 2012

Hi dearies! I'm still on a hang over mode after the holidays and my brother, mother-in-law and my birthday celebrations. I know there's a lot of catching up to do. So many items to review and post updates to be done. I just want to share to you what I bought myself before 2011 ends and my new found HG.
Majolica Majorca Skin Remaker Pore Cover Powder Foundation in OC10
Garnier BB Under Eye Roll On and Purederm Make-Up Cleansing Tissues
So far, I'm loving this new powder foundation and will road test it for a month so I can make a review. On the other hand, Garnier BB Under Eye Roll On is love! I can say it's my HG under eye concealer right now.

The Purederm facial wipes that I purchased before we left Manila also deserves a review here. I can't say that it can be a HG material but after 3 uses, it can be compared to my Hg facial wipes that is Neutrogena.

That's it for now, I need to lose all this holiday weight and stress so that I can get back right on track. Thanks for reading!

Good Times!~
