Product Review: E.L.F. Blush in Flushed

Wednesday, October 02, 2013

Hellos! Here's a review of my third blush on my history of powder and cream blushers. I'm a long time cheek tint user before I started blogging and just lost my love for cheek tints when my fave cheek tint was discontinued. Anyhoo, this is an impulse buy and now I'm having a love-hate relationship with it. I bought this blush because I forgot to bring my trusted ol blush for touch up before and after the go see that I attended months ago. I was in a hurry that day and the brand that came in my mind when I pass by Landmark, Trinoma was ELF. I had a good relationship with ELF Blush in Glow before that I actually hit the pan. So without a doubt I'll pick ELF again but I was surprised that it has been repackage and not sure if the formula was reformulated too. Since I'm in a hurry, I haven't tried the blush and just bought it right away after getting from the shelves.

When I stared closely at the blush, I'm not sure if the shade suits my skin tone. I find the shade too dark on my cheeks after application. After two hours, I noticed that the color of the blush oxidized on my cheeks as it turned red. I'm not sure if it's because of the lighting on the venue's comfort room. But when I got home, I ask le hubby if I look like a clown with this blush on. He said no but with a grin on his face.

So after that incident, I decided not to use this blush again. But I'm hopeful that it will work for me on the event that I opted to use the blush again. On my recent fotd, I use this blush again and I still find it unflattering on my cheeks. Please help me decide if I'll continue to use it, read my review and see my swatch. July Haul

Saturday, July 27, 2013

Before this month ends, let me share with you the products that I've purchased on different days. If you notice, most of the items here are my HG's so if you want to read my review I'll provide the link below. I want you to know that most of my "haul post" showcase my HG skin care brands. Pardon me because I try to veered away from buying things that I don't need and if I know it will irritate my skin, I'll skip it. I always think more than 10 times before buying new skin care product or makeup. I hope you'll not get bored of reading my haul post. But I assure you that there will be 1 or 2 items that's new so that I can share my review especially on latest cosmetic products in the market today that's budget friendly!

So lets start with my favorite cleanser, Eskinol that I've been replenishing since the day I discovered it from Janet's review. I love this cleanser doesn't irritate my skin and didn't make my breakout worse even if I ran the soaked cotton ball on them. It just sting big time XD. My next purchase was Maybelline Make Up Remover, it's my 3rd bottle. I only use this if I have photo shoot and I need to remove my eye makeup. This baby melts away stubborn eye shadows and waterproof eyeliners :) I'm not planning to buy a new contact lens because I still have 3 designs that I use alternately during photo shoots but when I saw that Dull to Doll was having a clearance sale, I immediately purchased this one. It's purple and I already used it in one of my photo shoot weeks ago.

Beauty Tag from Angel

image from google

Two weeks ago, Angela of Angelamhiere's Little Heaven tagged me in her post Beauty Tag from Erika. My apologies if it took me so long to share my beauty basics. I've been contemplating if I'll answer the questions straight-forward or will share what I really have since there's only few makeups on my stash. I love the simple/day/no makeup look that's why you'll seldom see me with eyeshadows even during events. So most that you'll see here are my HG's.  I will just give a brief details on each item or category. You can click on the captions below the photo to see my full review :D

BLUSH OR BRONZER

I'm a cheektint girl during my college years. I can't leave the house without staining my cheeks with this kind of blush. But as years passed by and with some reason (when my fave cheek tint from Mistine got discontinued) I just lost my passion for cheek tints. Two years ago I've tried to rekindle my love for cheek tints that's why I grabbed the opportunity when I bought this pre-loved tint from Benefit online.

My HG blush of the moment is Skinfood Rose Cheek Chalk in Rose Peach. I also have another blush and it's a mineral blush from Virginia Olsen. I haven't tried it though and will test it one of this day and see if I'll be fine with mineral blush on my cheeks.

LIPGLOSS OR LIPSTICK

Since I'm a late makeup bloomer, my first love was lipgloss. I love how light and girly glosses can be. But when I started lurking here in the blogosphere, I discovered so many kinds of lipsticks and my eyes were mesmerized by the colors specially pink ones. These two babies are my current faves, actually they're three but my grandmother saw me sporting Rogue Deluxe in Just Peachy from SNOE and she really liked the color so I just gave it to here since I can buy that from Snoe anytime. Loving these cool toned pink lippies from MAC and N.Y.X

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Addis Ababa

LIPBALM OR LIP BUTTER

Lipbalm baby! Handy, moisturising and fun since almost all the flavors smells very nice and some can be delicious too :D My current fave: Carmex (who doesn't love Carmex?) and EOS- my first organic lipbalm. Cute shape eh?

EOS (Evolution of Smooth) Smooth sphere in Honeysuckle Honeydew

MATTE OR SPARKLE EYESHADOWS

If you're a long time reader of this blog, I presume you know that I rarely put eyeshadows. I can count the days where I colored my eyelids and it's not me who did the eyemakeup. These eyeshadows below came from giveaway prizes and Virginia Olsen Minerals Holiday Collection Launch loot bag. So I can't answer the question based on my fave but If I were to choose, I'd choose the sparkle one because I love the fantasy effect when I tried it on the eyes.

Virginia Olsen Minerals Holiday Collection Eyeshadow in Stardust
Virginia Olsen Minerals Choco Eyeliner

FOUNDATION OR CONCEALER

Powder foundation and BB cream. I use bb creams as base and powder foundation to set the bb cream. I've tried so many bb creams before, most of them were sample sachets. Never got a full-sized one and the one I considered as full sized was a pre-loved one pa. The Majolica Majorca Skin Remaker Pore Cover is soooo love! I already hit the pan and will buy a refill this coming February. I'm glad that there's 4U2 dreamgirl Lovelight BB powder to save the day. This became the substitute of my favorite powder foundation when I was on a tight budget.

GEL, CREAM, LIQUID OR PENCIL EYELINER

I'm fine with liquid eyeliner but I always make a mistake on creating thin and thick lines because of my weird eyelids. I also like cream and gel liners because of the pigmentation it gives whenever I'm using it. But these two are my current faves. Virginia Olsen for a more dramatic look- can be used as an eyeshadow too while the San San Eyeliner Pen for days when I'm lazy putting makeup on my face.

Since I'm using bb cream I use my fingers to apply it. I also use my fingers to apply the Skinfood Rose Cheek Chalk or the sponge that comes with it. This landmark kabuki brush for my powder foundation. Another brush from Landmark- Artist Studio for my eyeliner and Marrionaud duo brush for my eyebrows. This Virginia Olsen Minerals eyeshadow brush came from the loot that we took home after the Fantasy Holiday Collection launch. Still unused :(

PRODUCTS I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT

And now my stash is getting bigger because two new products that I'm road-testing can be a HG material. The Tony Moly 7 Day Tattoo Eyebrow and Nichido Mineral Concealer Stick that I'm using as eyeliner for my waterlines. Will update you once I considered them my HG and will make a review soonest. I'm also road testing this bb cream from Skin79- it's the Oriental bb cream but I'm having a hard time using this.

What's in my Kikay Kit

Tuesday, August 07, 2012

Hi dearies! How's everyone lately? It's been raining all day and night. I hope and I pray for our safety. Even though I'm rarely watching news about current events, I still feel there are families who suffers from the calamities bought by these typhoons and heavy rains.
Anyhoo, I noticed that I haven't posted anything about my recent makeup stash. The last one I think was the Eye Makeup Essential post. To tell you honestly, I rarely wear makeup these days. I feel more comfortable with my skin now and I think I really need to feel comfortable with it. Makeup only enhances my features and I don't want to wear makeup just because I want to hide my flaws. But there were times that I cannot control my breakouts. It's really hormonal and our humid weather also adds a factor to it. So when my skin is acting up, I feel uncomfortable with it. I feel the need to add a heavy duty concealer for pimple marks and a full coverage bb cream. I mentioned before that I'm a late bloomer when it comes to makeup and it really shows with my makeup stash. From the time that I started lurking in forums and here in blogosphere to read and compare reviews, these were the only thing that I purchased and accumulated. Most of the products here are my HG.
I only have one makeup/ kikay kit :D I don't bring this with me when I'm going to attend events or outside the house for some errands. This always sits in my closet and I'll just bring two things with me (lip balm and lip cream) and place it inside my bag.
Silver Pouch from Watson's

2. Majolica Majorca jeweling eye pencil- used once

My makeup must haves: BB cream and/or Powder Foundation+ Undereye concealer+Eyeliner+eyebrow powder+ mascara and I'm good to go. If I feel like I want to glam up my face, I'll add the blush and the jeweling eyeliner. For the lips, I just swipe some lip balm: Carmex, EOS or Human Heart Nature and/or my favorite N.Y.X Addis Ababa soft matte lip cream for a touch of color.

Basically that's it loves. So what's inside your makeup kit? Share it away guys :D

  Good Times!~

Product Review: E.L.F. Eyebrow Kit in Light

Thursday, June 07, 2012

Hi lovelies! Have you joined my first giveaway yet? I'm giving a tub of Glysolid Glycerin Cream and other skin care stuffs. I swear by Glysolid, you can read my post HERE.

If there's one thing I considered makeup during my college days, it's the eyebrow pencil. Yes, I only use eyebrow pencil, lip balm and pressed powder on my teen years. I'm a late bloomer when it comes to the real makeup as what I call it (foundation, eyeliner, lipstick, mascara and so on). I just started using those I mentioned above when I got married 2 years ago that's why when relatives and friends see my latest photo they tell me you look like you doesn't have a 3 year old child. I also realized that I'm becoming more conscious of what I look now unlike before. All I can say is I love my life now. I'm happily married to my wonderful hubby and I always wanted to look attractive to him. I also noticed that when you have positive aura even without makeup, glowing and healthy skin shows.

Anyhoo, since I mentioned the eyebrow pencil thing-y a while ago, I wanted to share what keeps my almost non-existent eyebrow in shape. I discovered eyebrow powder, gel and mascara from beauty bloggers and after reading their reviews I'm a convert now. Since that day, I started my hunt for a cheap eyebrow powder that will match my colored hair. I'm glad that I've found E.L.F. Studio Brow Kit. I'm hesitant at first. I'm afraid that I'll overdo my brows if I'll use the wax and powder combination but oh ma, I'm totally wrong. Read on to see what I'm talking about :)
