Carmex

Product Review: Carmex Cherry Stick

Sunday, September 28, 2014

Hello dearies! As we enter the BER months, I can almost say that I feel the cold wind blowing at night. Almost because there are times that I can still feel the hot humid weather in the afternoon. I want to embrace each day waking by up in a breezy weather because it makes my skin less oily and less headache. But with the uprising of cold weather, my puckers started to get dry and flaky. This is the time where heavy duty lip balms play an important role in lip care. It can moisturize, prevent chapped and flaking lips, aids in windburn, and as lipstick base.

One of my favorite brand is Carmex. It's a mainstay in my makeup pouch and as a proof, I've already made a review of their Carmex Cherry Tube and Classic Carmex Moisturizing Lip Balm in a Jar variants. The three variants of Carmex lip balms are highly recommended. It's up to you which form you prefer. So without further ado, here's an addition to my reviews of Carmex Lip Balms! Click CONTINUE READING to know if this one is one of my faves among the three forms :)

Sample Room Products for April + Another Major Haul :)

Friday, May 02, 2014

I really love Sample Room! Every time they replenish their stocks, the samples mostly full-sized samples are very promising and interesting. I already made a review of Vidal Sassoon Premium Color Care Series (shampoo and conditioner) and I think this range will be complete with the treatment. So when I accumulated again the points that I used last March after reviewing the products, I immediately grabbed a sample of the hair treatment. I also availed the Celeteque Bacne Spray to test it with hubby's bacne. I swear by Celeteque products. They're from Unilab- one of my tried and tested brand for skin care, health and wellness. To complete my April Sample Room Haul, I availed the Hygienix hand sanitizer. Being an OC mom, I always make sure that my hands and Kenzo's hands are always clean and germ free. I also purchased some beauty essentials and skin care products from different brands. Click CONTINUE READING to see more :)

Beauty Tag from Angel

Friday, January 25, 2013

image from google

Two weeks ago, Angela of Angelamhiere's Little Heaven tagged me in her post Beauty Tag from Erika. My apologies if it took me so long to share my beauty basics. I've been contemplating if I'll answer the questions straight-forward or will share what I really have since there's only few makeups on my stash. I love the simple/day/no makeup look that's why you'll seldom see me with eyeshadows even during events. So most that you'll see here are my HG's.  I will just give a brief details on each item or category. You can click on the captions below the photo to see my full review :D

BLUSH OR BRONZER

I'm a cheektint girl during my college years. I can't leave the house without staining my cheeks with this kind of blush. But as years passed by and with some reason (when my fave cheek tint from Mistine got discontinued) I just lost my passion for cheek tints. Two years ago I've tried to rekindle my love for cheek tints that's why I grabbed the opportunity when I bought this pre-loved tint from Benefit online.

My HG blush of the moment is Skinfood Rose Cheek Chalk in Rose Peach. I also have another blush and it's a mineral blush from Virginia Olsen. I haven't tried it though and will test it one of this day and see if I'll be fine with mineral blush on my cheeks.

LIPGLOSS OR LIPSTICK

Since I'm a late makeup bloomer, my first love was lipgloss. I love how light and girly glosses can be. But when I started lurking here in the blogosphere, I discovered so many kinds of lipsticks and my eyes were mesmerized by the colors specially pink ones. These two babies are my current faves, actually they're three but my grandmother saw me sporting Rogue Deluxe in Just Peachy from SNOE and she really liked the color so I just gave it to here since I can buy that from Snoe anytime. Loving these cool toned pink lippies from MAC and N.Y.X
MAC Girl About Town Lisptick
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Addis Ababa

LIPBALM OR LIP BUTTER

Lipbalm baby! Handy, moisturising and fun since almost all the flavors smells very nice and some can be delicious too :D My current fave: Carmex (who doesn't love Carmex?) and EOS- my first organic lipbalm. Cute shape eh?

EOS (Evolution of Smooth) Smooth sphere in Honeysuckle Honeydew

MATTE OR SPARKLE EYESHADOWS

If you're a long time reader of this blog, I presume you know that I rarely put eyeshadows. I can count the days where I colored my eyelids and it's not me who did the eyemakeup. These eyeshadows below came from giveaway prizes and Virginia Olsen Minerals Holiday Collection Launch loot bag. So I can't answer the question based on my fave but If I were to choose, I'd choose the sparkle one because I love the fantasy effect when I tried it on the eyes.

Virginia Olsen Minerals Choco Eyeliner

FOUNDATION OR CONCEALER

Powder foundation and BB cream. I use bb creams as base and powder foundation to set the bb cream. I've tried so many bb creams before, most of them were sample sachets. Never got a full-sized one and the one I considered as full sized was a pre-loved one pa. The Majolica Majorca Skin Remaker Pore Cover is soooo love! I already hit the pan and will buy a refill this coming February. I'm glad that there's 4U2 dreamgirl Lovelight BB powder to save the day. This became the substitute of my favorite powder foundation when I was on a tight budget.

GEL, CREAM, LIQUID OR PENCIL EYELINER

I'm fine with liquid eyeliner but I always make a mistake on creating thin and thick lines because of my weird eyelids. I also like cream and gel liners because of the pigmentation it gives whenever I'm using it. But these two are my current faves. Virginia Olsen for a more dramatic look- can be used as an eyeshadow too while the San San Eyeliner Pen for days when I'm lazy putting makeup on my face.

Since I'm using bb cream I use my fingers to apply it. I also use my fingers to apply the Skinfood Rose Cheek Chalk or the sponge that comes with it. This landmark kabuki brush for my powder foundation. Another brush from Landmark- Artist Studio for my eyeliner and Marrionaud duo brush for my eyebrows. This Virginia Olsen Minerals eyeshadow brush came from the loot that we took home after the Fantasy Holiday Collection launch. Still unused :(

PRODUCTS I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT

And now my stash is getting bigger because two new products that I'm road-testing can be a HG material. The Tony Moly 7 Day Tattoo Eyebrow and Nichido Mineral Concealer Stick that I'm using as eyeliner for my waterlines. Will update you once I considered them my HG and will make a review soonest. I'm also road testing this bb cream from Skin79- it's the Oriental bb cream but I'm having a hard time using this.

Product Review: Classic Carmex Moisturizing Lipbalm in a Jar

Friday, June 29, 2012

Are you suffering from dry and chapped lips? Mine does! If the weather is cold, my lips becomes dry and flaky. I hate it when I look in the mirror and I always see dead skin on top of my lips, I really wanna peel it off. Ugh. Thank goodness there's Carmex! If you're a follower of my blog, prolly you know that I made a post on my first Carmex lip balm in a tube and it became my HG lip balm. I already finished the tube and I'm glad that I have a new one. But this time, it's another variant of Carmex. I got this baby from the Everyday Essentials Loot that I won from The Beauty Junkee's 3rd Grand Anniversary Giveaway.

After using this for two weeks, I'm totally hand's down to this product :D Here's my take on another keeper!!!

I used a mini spatula to scoop out the product and put here in my hand.

Without Carmex, just ignore the reflection on my lower lips.
Classic Carmex Moisturizing Lipbalm in a Jar
With Carmex, just a hint of shine- soft and moisturized lips! Pardon if in this photo it looks like I just ate an oily food, it's the reflection of the light and mirror. I used my phone to take this photo with a mirror behind it.

What I like:
  • Simple packaging, the hubby doesn't mind using this lip balm in public because for him the jar is for "unisex" meaning not a girly or fancy thing.
  • I love the tingling sensation it gives right after application. It leaves a cool and minty feel.
  • Inexpensive.
  • Not waxy and sticky.
  • I apply this whenever I have blisters on my lips and it soothes the irritation.
  • My lips felt soft and smooth after application.
  • There's a product information printed on the package with expiry date.
What I don't like:
  • The packaging can be unhygienic for me because sometimes I feel lazy using my mini spatula to scoop out the product.
Will I repurchase? Yes! I'm using this daily morning and evening so a jar will not last that long. The hubby uses this too so I need to buy a back up soon.

Recommendation:
I give this a 4.5/5 rating. This product is really effective! It's affordable too. What more can I say? It relieves and moisturises. This is my HG lipbalm :D
