SM World of Beauty

Tuesday, June 13, 2017

I was in high school, I often hear my mom talking to my titas who live abroad about makeup brands that are not available locally. Two of my aunts work at Macy's that's why if there's a new shade of lipstick from my mom's favorite brand, she will just tell it to them but it will take a year before the balikbayan boxes will arrive at our doorsteps.

To cut a long story short, it's hard to buy makeup from brands that are exclusively available abroad but now, hoarding buying is a breeze because all the coveted brands from different parts of the world are exclusively available at SM World of Beauty! Let me share with you some of my fave brands from around the world below :)

Beauty Tag from Angel

Friday, January 25, 2013

image from google

Two weeks ago, Angela of Angelamhiere's Little Heaven tagged me in her post Beauty Tag from Erika. My apologies if it took me so long to share my beauty basics. I've been contemplating if I'll answer the questions straight-forward or will share what I really have since there's only few makeups on my stash. I love the simple/day/no makeup look that's why you'll seldom see me with eyeshadows even during events. So most that you'll see here are my HG's.  I will just give a brief details on each item or category. You can click on the captions below the photo to see my full review :D

BLUSH OR BRONZER

I'm a cheektint girl during my college years. I can't leave the house without staining my cheeks with this kind of blush. But as years passed by and with some reason (when my fave cheek tint from Mistine got discontinued) I just lost my passion for cheek tints. Two years ago I've tried to rekindle my love for cheek tints that's why I grabbed the opportunity when I bought this pre-loved tint from Benefit online.

My HG blush of the moment is Skinfood Rose Cheek Chalk in Rose Peach. I also have another blush and it's a mineral blush from Virginia Olsen. I haven't tried it though and will test it one of this day and see if I'll be fine with mineral blush on my cheeks.

LIPGLOSS OR LIPSTICK

Since I'm a late makeup bloomer, my first love was lipgloss. I love how light and girly glosses can be. But when I started lurking here in the blogosphere, I discovered so many kinds of lipsticks and my eyes were mesmerized by the colors specially pink ones. These two babies are my current faves, actually they're three but my grandmother saw me sporting Rogue Deluxe in Just Peachy from SNOE and she really liked the color so I just gave it to here since I can buy that from Snoe anytime. Loving these cool toned pink lippies from MAC and N.Y.X
MAC Girl About Town Lisptick
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Addis Ababa

LIPBALM OR LIP BUTTER

Lipbalm baby! Handy, moisturising and fun since almost all the flavors smells very nice and some can be delicious too :D My current fave: Carmex (who doesn't love Carmex?) and EOS- my first organic lipbalm. Cute shape eh?

EOS (Evolution of Smooth) Smooth sphere in Honeysuckle Honeydew

MATTE OR SPARKLE EYESHADOWS

If you're a long time reader of this blog, I presume you know that I rarely put eyeshadows. I can count the days where I colored my eyelids and it's not me who did the eyemakeup. These eyeshadows below came from giveaway prizes and Virginia Olsen Minerals Holiday Collection Launch loot bag. So I can't answer the question based on my fave but If I were to choose, I'd choose the sparkle one because I love the fantasy effect when I tried it on the eyes.

FOUNDATION OR CONCEALER

Powder foundation and BB cream. I use bb creams as base and powder foundation to set the bb cream. I've tried so many bb creams before, most of them were sample sachets. Never got a full-sized one and the one I considered as full sized was a pre-loved one pa. The Majolica Majorca Skin Remaker Pore Cover is soooo love! I already hit the pan and will buy a refill this coming February. I'm glad that there's 4U2 dreamgirl Lovelight BB powder to save the day. This became the substitute of my favorite powder foundation when I was on a tight budget.

GEL, CREAM, LIQUID OR PENCIL EYELINER

I'm fine with liquid eyeliner but I always make a mistake on creating thin and thick lines because of my weird eyelids. I also like cream and gel liners because of the pigmentation it gives whenever I'm using it. But these two are my current faves. Virginia Olsen for a more dramatic look- can be used as an eyeshadow too while the San San Eyeliner Pen for days when I'm lazy putting makeup on my face.

Since I'm using bb cream I use my fingers to apply it. I also use my fingers to apply the Skinfood Rose Cheek Chalk or the sponge that comes with it. This landmark kabuki brush for my powder foundation. Another brush from Landmark- Artist Studio for my eyeliner and Marrionaud duo brush for my eyebrows. This Virginia Olsen Minerals eyeshadow brush came from the loot that we took home after the Fantasy Holiday Collection launch. Still unused :(

PRODUCTS I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT

And now my stash is getting bigger because two new products that I'm road-testing can be a HG material. The Tony Moly 7 Day Tattoo Eyebrow and Nichido Mineral Concealer Stick that I'm using as eyeliner for my waterlines. Will update you once I considered them my HG and will make a review soonest. I'm also road testing this bb cream from Skin79- it's the Oriental bb cream but I'm having a hard time using this.

What's in my Kikay Kit

Tuesday, August 07, 2012

Hi dearies! How's everyone lately? It's been raining all day and night. I hope and I pray for our safety. Even though I'm rarely watching news about current events, I still feel there are families who suffers from the calamities bought by these typhoons and heavy rains.
Anyhoo, I noticed that I haven't posted anything about my recent makeup stash. The last one I think was the Eye Makeup Essential post. To tell you honestly, I rarely wear makeup these days. I feel more comfortable with my skin now and I think I really need to feel comfortable with it. Makeup only enhances my features and I don't want to wear makeup just because I want to hide my flaws. But there were times that I cannot control my breakouts. It's really hormonal and our humid weather also adds a factor to it. So when my skin is acting up, I feel uncomfortable with it. I feel the need to add a heavy duty concealer for pimple marks and a full coverage bb cream. I mentioned before that I'm a late bloomer when it comes to makeup and it really shows with my makeup stash. From the time that I started lurking in forums and here in blogosphere to read and compare reviews, these were the only thing that I purchased and accumulated. Most of the products here are my HG.
I only have one makeup/ kikay kit :D I don't bring this with me when I'm going to attend events or outside the house for some errands. This always sits in my closet and I'll just bring two things with me (lip balm and lip cream) and place it inside my bag.
Silver Pouch from Watson's

2. Majolica Majorca jeweling eye pencil- used once

My makeup must haves: BB cream and/or Powder Foundation+ Undereye concealer+Eyeliner+eyebrow powder+ mascara and I'm good to go. If I feel like I want to glam up my face, I'll add the blush and the jeweling eyeliner. For the lips, I just swipe some lip balm: Carmex, EOS or Human Heart Nature and/or my favorite N.Y.X Addis Ababa soft matte lip cream for a touch of color.

Basically that's it loves. So what's inside your makeup kit? Share it away guys :D

Product Review: Covergirl NatureLuxe Gloss Balm in Hibiscus

Sunday, July 29, 2012

Hi lovelies! How's your day? It's raining cats and dogs outside so to those who are staying outside their houses today don't forget to bring your rain gadgets (umbrella, rain boots, rain coat, scarfs, etc) to keep you dry and warm. This cozy weather is perfect for movie marathon while sipping a hot cup of your favorite drink. As for me, the stay-at-home mom that's always at home obviously and bumming around with my son wants to go out and spend some time at the mall. I'm craving for milk tea and yogurt :D I guess will have to get my milk tea fix at 7-11 .

Before going outside, I just wanna share this review on Covergirl's Gloss Balm from the NatureLuxe collection. The line features a new generation of makeup luxury that are lightweight and do not contain a ton of synthetic ingredients. This lip gloss was included from the Everyday Essentials Loot  that I won from The Beauty Junkee's 3rd Grand Anniversary Giveaway. I actually have two bullets of this gloss and I gave the other one to my sister. The shade is 215 Hibiscus and I think flatters most skin color.
Covergirl NatureLuxe Gloss Balm in Hibiscus
Natureluxe Gloss Balm exchanges select heavier emollients for natural mango, shea and other butters which are lighter, more luxurious feeling alternatives.
The Gloss Balm is part of CoverGirl Natureluxe, a luxury makeup line that exchanges select heavier synthetics for carefully-chosen natural ingredients, while delivering a polished makeup look and a lightweight feel.
Natureluxe Gloss Balm contains a lightweight blend of mango, shea and other natural butters, used in place of heavier feeling emollients. Mango and shea butters are lighter and more luxurious-feeling than heavier, synthetic emollients. The formulation provides an occlusive barrier that helps protect lips against drying elements like the sun and wind.

The shade is a mix of pink and purple. The photo doesn't show the true color of this gloss, I wasn't able to look for a good lighting.

What I like:
  • The product contains mango, shea and natural butters so I guess there's a lesser synthetic emollient in the ingredients.
  • Gives moisture to the lips.
  • Has a nice pop of color and glossy finish.
  • The container is sleek.
  • It has SPF 15 so you get a good amount of sun protection for your lips.
  • Has manufacturing and expiry date stamped on the container.
  • Smells good :D
  • Has wide selection of colors.
What I don't like:
  • Wears off easily.
  • Quite pricey for a lip gloss.
Will I repurchase? Maybe. It's a nice gift for college students or girls who likes subtle color on their lips. This is also a great gift for office girls who likes lip gloss with a hint of color.

Recommendation:
I give this a 3.75/5 rating. It's a nice lip gloss with a hint of color that you can use everyday. I just wish it contains more amount of product. Since I'm a cheapskate and will only spend my money for budget-friendly cosmetics, I have to pass this one. I'll recommend this to a friend and suggest this as a great gift for those who loves prettifying their lips for casual look.

What brand of lip gloss do you own? Thanks for sharing guys! Stay safe and have a blessed Sunday everyone :D

Product Review: COVERGIRL LashBlast Fusion Mascara- Black 865

Sunday, July 08, 2012

How's your weekend? I'm suffering from skin allergies lately hence the lack of post. I can't concentrate from writing because these rashes are very itchy. Up to now I'm still having discomforts during bed time even though I already popped a pill of anti-histamine. This medicine should make me more sleepy, drowsy or groggy but I think it's not working like that. By the way, I'm having my 100th Follower Giveaway so if you're into eye makeup, this is your chance to own an eye shadow palette that's also good for beginners. Speaking of eye makeup, here's another product review of mascara that I won from The Beauty Junkee's 3rd Anniversary Giveaway: Everyday Essential Loot.

This is my second mascara to date and let's see how will it fare to my short-thin-sparse lashes. I already found my HG mascara- Maybelline Full N' Soft but it's not available here. Boo Boo! I have no choice but to look for another mascara and this came perfect on time. But I'm hesitant at first because the brush applicator is new to me. It's not like the traditional brush type. I really had a hard time using this, but practice makes perfect. I used this several times so now here's what LashBlast Fusion to me. Just a nice and natural looking lashes great for day wear at school and at work. I still love Maybelline! Want to know why??? Scroll down and read more.

COVERGIRL LashBlast Fusion Mascara- Black 865
Bare and curled lashes
COVERGIRL LashBlast Fusion Mascara- Black 865
With one coat, I didn't see any difference in this photo but IRL , this mascara adds length
COVERGIRL LashBlast Fusion Mascara- Black 865
With two coats, it weighed down my lashes. The volumizing effect is so-so.

What I like:
  • I love the color of the packaging.
  • Well sealed, manufacturing date printed on the package.
  • No clumping, flaking or smudging upon use.
  • Easy to remove.
  • Adds length to my short lashes.
  • Good for day-to-day use mascara, it's not dramatic.
  • Contains more product compared to my Maybelline Full n' Soft mascara.
What I don't like:
  • Not waterproof.
  • The packaging is a bit bulky for me.
  • I had a hard time using the huge brush applicator.
  • Weighs my lashes after 2 coats .
  • The volumizing effect is so-so.
  • I find the brush applicator tricky to use.
Will I repurchase? No, I want to try a dramatic mascara since I want to achieve the falsies lashes look.

Recommendation:
I give this a 3/5 rating. I have a love-hate relationship with this product. The moment I saw this on my loot, I said to myself that this will replace my HG mascara but I'm wrong. My first impression failed. I find this a good day-to-day mascara that gives my lashes a nice natural look. I will not recommend you to buy this because there's a lot of drug store brands that does the job. There's a lot more brand to try like Maybelline, L'oreal, Etude House and if your willing to shell out, Majolica Majorca and those high end brand like Benefit is worth a try. I'm not ready to spend on a high- end brand mascara because I always stay at home and the shelf-life of most mascara is very short. I will only end up with expired and dried up mascara.

What's your favorite mascara?Any tips and tricks to have a fuller lashes? Thanks for sharing!

Good Times!~
