Product Review: MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick

Monday, February 22, 2016

I have a long list of lemmings especially makeups and to be more specific a long list of lipstick shades from different high-end brands. Crossing one shade in the list today because I finally got myself a tube of MAC Ruby Woo last year. It's supposed to be a birthday gift to myself but became an impulse buy when I dropped by in MAC Store at Sm Makati.

This famous red shade lipstick from MAC has been raved many times by beauty bloggers around the globe and an all-time favorite of famous celebrities here and abroad. Sharing with you some photos and swatches below and why despite the things I don't like about Mac Ruby Woo, I will still highly recommend this shade to you!

Product Review: Etude House Fantastic Color Eyes in Cherry Blossom

Monday, January 11, 2016

Prom season is just around the corner and I'm pretty sure that junior and senior high school students are so excited for the big day. From dance presentation rehearsals, to prom dress preparation, I'm sure that if you're in the shoes of these young ladies, you want to make everything perfect and have a night to remember. Aside from these, another thing that girls are so nervous and excited to wear is their evening makeup. Prolly some will hire a MUA (makeup artist) while some who have a tight or decent budget will do their makeup on their own or you may ask a friend who knows the basics of applying makeup especially if you only want a simple evening look.

For this to achieve, you should invest in cost effective makeup up products like primer, foundation, blush, eyebrow powder, eyeliner, lipstick, and eyeshadows. Speaking of eyeshadows, you need to look for pigmented ones since this will be the center of your face makeup. Simple yet dramatic eye makeup will do and can be achieved using colors from an eyeshadow palette. Since we are talking about eyeshadows here, I have an eyeshadow palette from Etude House and methinks a useful palette if your eye makeup peg needs pinks, neutrals, and shimmer eyeshadow shades. Sharing with you today the review and swatch of Etude House Fantastic Color Eyes in Cherry Blossom :)

Product Review: Etude House Fantastic Color Eyes in Cherry Blossom

Make your eyes look blooming like a beautiful flower with Fantastic Color Eyes palette! This is a 6 color eye shadow palette that comes in trendy colors and various textures for fantastic expression of the eyes for different occasions. There are two palettes: rose garden and cherry blossom. Etude House sent me the cherry blossom palette last year and I'll be sharing with you the swatch below :)

Cherry Coke, Cherry March, Baby Peony, Hello Spring, Floral Walk and Warm Morning

This palette from Etude House is flower themed because the other palette is also named after a flower-rose garden. I can say that it's inspired from the colors of blooming flowers, the reason why you'll see mostly pink shades. Here are the shades:
  • Cherry Coke- darkest among the six shades, this is perfect for creating smokey eyes.
  • Cherry March - a cool tone hot pink shade that it close to matte.
  • Baby Peony- a light pink shade that can be used in the crease.
  • Hello Spring - it has a thick texture and as you can see in the photo below, it's full of shimmers. Can also be used as a highlighter.
  • Floral Walk - a copper color shade with gold specks.
  • Warm Morning - light brown shade for a day time smokey eye makeup.

Cherry Coke, Cherry March, Baby Peony, Hello Spring, Floral Walk and Warm Morning

What I like:
  • The packaging is simple but pretty. It's slim and compact.
  • The palette already has a mirror so it can be used immediately for touch-ups, no need to use a separate mirror.
  • The eyeshadow palette is handy and travel-friendly.
  • The colors inside are wearable. It has pinks, neutrals, and a mix of matte and shimmers.
  • It comes with a dual-ended applicator too.
  • These eyeshadow colors are very pigmented.
  • The packaging has batch, manufacture, expiry date printed at the bottom of the palette.
  • Easily accessible.

What I don't like:
  • The price- can be a little steep for those who have a tight budget.
  • Some of the shades can be tricky to apply.

Will I repurchase? Not for now as this palette can go a long way since it is very pigmented.

Recommendation
I give this a 4/5 rating. To tell you honestly, I seldom use eyeshadows so no EOTD in this post. I tried using this palette on my cousin-in-law's eyelids last year when she needed to wear eye makeup for a birthday party and I find some of the shades easy to use. Just be sure not to go overboard in application since some shades like Cherry March can look messy because of fall outs during application. If you have spare money to buy an eyeshadow palette, I recommend this to you.

Yes, I said that the price is steep for cheapskates and for those who have a limited budget for prom. But if you think that you'll be using it after prom and for everyday simple eye makeup look, then it's time to buy this palette. This is also perfect for day time makeup.

Have you seen or tried this eyeshadow palette from Etude House?

Product Review: Wet N Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain Moisturizing Lip Colour in A Stiff Pink

Friday, April 10, 2015

Early last year, chubby crayon-like lipstick/lip balm/ lip stain hit beauty bloggers by storm. I've seen my favorite beauty gurus reviewing their fave chubby lippies in crayon form from brand one after the other! From high-end to cost effective ones, these babies offer pretty shades and functions more than one. I can't contain my excitement when I saw this from Luxola's website and said to myself that finally I'll be able to get hold of my own crayon because the price of a drugstore brand like Wet N Wild is pretty cheap and affordable!

Here's a review of Wet N Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain Moisturizing Lip Colour in A Stiff Pink. This product was sent to me by Luxola last February so my apologies if this is a very late review. I describe this lip balm/lipstick/lip gloss/lip stain as a cool toned pink. It's a bright pink that leaves a beautiful stain on my lips. If my memory serves me right, this shade can be a close dupe of one of my lipsticks, MAC Girl About Town (GAT) but this one is a tad ligther. I'll check and update this post just to be sure. To see photos and swatches, click CONTINUE READING now!

Product Review: Wet N Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain Moisturizing Lip Colour in A Stiff Pink

According to Wet N Wild's website:

Now you can amp up your lips with one stick for a kissable pout in no time. To keep you pucker-perfect, these all NEW lip balm stains glide on smoothly while conditioning the lips. Enriched with Acai Palm Oil, this amazing formula forms a protective shield on the lips to prevent feathering. Complete with six great shades and continuous moisture, the formula leaves the lips with a unique minty, cooling sensation. No matter how long the kiss, this balm will last and last.

Photo above shows the content of one crayon. Swatch on my forearm twice. It is very pigmented. Looks light inside crayon packaging but turns into a bright blue toned pink after application. The photo on the right shows the stain. It's a pain to remove, I've already placed my arm under running water and I've tried smudging it to remove but the stain is still there.

Product Review: Wet N Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain Moisturizing Lip Colour in A Stiff Pink

What I like:
  • The price is el cheapo compared to other chubby sticks in the market today.
  • The packaging is cute. It is a twist up crayon pencil that has a clear cap. The packaging's color is the same as the shade of the balm stain.
  • No need to sharpen.
  • There are 6 gorgeous shades to choose from.
  • It's a 4-in-1 product- a lip gloss, lip stain, lipstick and lip balm!
  • There's a unique minty, cool sensation upon application.
  • It is very pigmented. Not for the faint of heart if  you apply it with a heavy hand.
  • It is easy to apply as it glides smoothly on my lips without tugging and pulling my lips.
  • Lasted 6 hours on my lips.
  • Does not fade after eating or sipping my drink.
  • Does not fade unevenly as it leaves a beautiful stain on my lips.
  • There's a batch and manufacturing date printed on it.
What I don't like:
  • The packaging is flimsy.
  • There's a semi- chemical scent.
  • It dries out my lips even if I apply my fave lip balm underneath.
  • It's a pain to remove even if I use my fave makeup remover.
Will I repurchase? Maybe yes and no. Yes because I want to try the remaining five shades. No because I think a bullet will last long. I'm the type who will empty the contents of a product first before trying or buying a new one if it becomes a fave or HG (holy grail).

Recommendation:
I give this product a 4.25/5 rating. I like that it's pigmented and easy to use plus it's affordable but it dries out my lips and I find it hard to remove even if I use my favorite makeup remover. So if your lips are prone to drying, use a heavy duty lip balm underneath this balm stain. The minty and cooling sensation is unique and fun! I recommend this balm stain to budget conscious individuals and to students too who wants to try a good drugstore brand.

Product Review: Tony Moly Party Lover Coloring BrowCara

Tuesday, January 27, 2015

Hi dearies, I'm so excited to share with you another fave product from Tony Moly. I presume not all of  you have tried this genius brow product invented to date. For someone who is so fond of taking good care of their eyebrows, this product is a must. When I saw this product from top beauty bloggers' haul post, I said to myself that I have to check the product out. A mascara for eyebrows, cool beans!

When I saw and swatch the product at Tony Moly SM Fairview, my first impression was 'easy and accessible product  to brow dye at home'. Because I always color my hair light, I need a brow product that is 1 shade darker than my hair color.  So I chose Tony Moly Party Lover Coloring BrowCara in 02 Gray Brown to compliment my light ash blonde hair. About the brow dye thing-y, don't worry it's just my term. It's not a real brow dye because it easily comes off with a makeup remover. This brow mascara looks natural on my brows, really! Enough of the blabber, here's the review of ony Moly Party Lover Coloring BrowCara in 02 Gray Brown. Click CONTINUE READING for more information :)

Product Review: Tony Moly Easy Touch Auto Eye Liner

Sunday, January 25, 2015

So after finishing my Etude House eyeliner pencil last November, I decided to buy another pencil from le sister company which is Tony Moly. I had a not so good experience with Etude House eyeliner in terms of the staying power but I still manage to finish the whole pencil albeit the transfer on my upper lids upon application. I just use a cotton buds to wipe the smudge and I'm good to go. A bit tedious on the apply-wipe part but there's no biggie because the price is el cheapo.

Anyhoo, the search for a good eyeliner pencil is over! Finally, found the right kind of eyeliner pencil for my monolids. It's not the ordinary retractable eyeliner pencil because it's a gel-like eyeliner pencil that's very easy to use and stays all day long. This eyeliner pencil from Tony Moly stole my heart! True to its name- Easy Touch Auto Eye Liner that is easy peasy to use. I'm excited to share with you my honest to goodness review of Tony Moly Easy Touch Auto Eye Liner so without further ado click CONTINUE READING to see photos and swatches :)

Product Review: Tony Moly Delight Blusher 06 Girls Pink

Thursday, January 22, 2015

Hello dearies! Finally, I'll be sharing my thoughts on another product from Tony Moly. I'm sure you already know that my favorite Korean makeup brands are Tony Moly and Etude House. I find most of their products cost-effective and functional plus the pretty and chic side of their packaging brings out the girly-girl in me.

I've been looking for a pink blush because I'm curious on how it will fare with my pale white skin. My default blush shade is peach and there are times that I find the color boring on days when I want to add a pop of color on my cheeks. I'm not sure if light or baby pink shade will look good on my cheeks sans my age. I don't want to look 'trying hard' to look young so I should look for an affordable pink blush that will give my cheeks the natural healthy flush. Here's my honest to goodness review of Tony Moly Delight Blusher in Girls Pink. Click CONTINUE READING and see it it's a yay or a nay :)

Product Review: Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Nail Enamel- Photos and Swatches

Friday, January 16, 2015

Hello dearies! If you're a long time reader of this blog, I presume you already know that I'm a stay-at-home-mom, I do household chores that's why I wash my hands more than 10 times a day. With that said, my manicure doesn't lasts long. Even if I use a premium nail polish, the edges tend to chip the next day.

I've tried gel nail polish thrice and it lasted for 5 days to a week. For a hands-on mom like me, gel nail polish is prolly the best bet for long-lasting manicure. There are 2 things why sometimes I veered away from gel nail polish aside from weekly trips to nail salon. First, the price of the service is a bit steep for a budget conscious individual like me. Lastly, if the gel polish started to chip, I need to go back to the salon and avail the gel polish removal service or I'll let my nails grow and get an uneven polish at the bottom part of my finger nails (lunula).

I think the solution to my so called roller coaster nail polish love affair came to life when Revlon Philippines sent me their Colorstay Gel Envy Nail Enamel. The word 'gel envy' is intriguing. Be the judge and see if this nail polish collection from Revlon fits the bill. Click CONTINUE READING to see photos and swatches of these 8 pretty shades.

Product Review: Tony Moly Kiss Lover Lip Master in Sexy Red

Friday, January 02, 2015

Hello 2015! First review of the year goes to Tony Moly Kiss Lover Lip Master because this lip cream/lipstick is my go to lippie for the past few weeks now. I've received this lip product from Tony Moly last October and upon application on my lips, I'm so happy that the color can pass off as my every day 'red' lipstick. I presume you already know that I will choose a pink, hot pink or purple lipstick over red because I look snob with red. I can describe Tony Moly Kiss Lover Lip Master in Sexy Red as a cherry tomato red. A red shade with a hint of orange that is not too bright nor too dark.

Fret not if you see in my photos below that the product looks bloody red on the doe foot applicator because once applied, it leaves a healthy red shade that has a decent shine on my lips. To see photos and swatches of Tony Moly Kiss Lover Lip Master in Sexy Red that I dubbed as liquid lip color, lip tint, lip cream and lipstick rolled into one, click CONTINUE READING dearies!

Product Review: MAC Up The Amp Lipstick

Monday, December 29, 2014

And the MAC lipstick addiction goes on! I think I'll be in love with MAC lipsticks forever. I can say 'Once you go MAC, you will never go back!' I had a chance to get hold of this shade from MAC when Rae posted on her Instagram account that she'll be letting go of some of her lipsticks. Knowing her, I didn't doubt about the lipstick's condition and never even bothered if the lipstick is pre-loved. She sanitized the lipstick properly and have used the product only a couple of times.

This shade from MAC lipsticks is one of my lemmings. It's on my MAC lipstick shades wishlist. Out of 10 shades, I already have 3. So I guess the wishes are coming true one lipstick at a time :) According to MAC's website this shade is a Colour plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street! What made M·A·C famous. Click CONTINUE READING to see the swatches and if it suits my skin tone.

Product Review: Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain

Wednesday, October 15, 2014

Hello dearies! The long wait is finally over, here are the swatches and my thoughts on Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain lipstick/lipstain. I received a couple of emails regarding the swatches of this lipstain that was sent to me by Revlon Philippines. When these landed on our doorsteps, I immediately tested the lightest color which is LA Exclusive. It's a bubblegum pink shade that compliments my skin tone.

To give you a brief information about the product, these lip stains are ultra-light and creamy, gives a nice glossy finish and leaves a pretty stain on the lips. I actually like these lip stains and been wearing the three shades alternately almost everyday. To know more about the product and the swatches, click CONTINUE READING

Product Review: Etude House Styling Eyeliner in 01 Black

Saturday, October 04, 2014

Because I've been trying to lessen the makeup that I wear when I go out or attend events, the only thing that I want to focus right now are my eyes. No, I will not apply eye shadows as I still can't get the hang of it (the blending) but to find the perfect eyebrow powder and eyeliner pen that will not make me look snob and old. In search of a good eyeliner, I stumbled upon Etude House months ago and saw in their shelves that they have affordable eyeliners to boot.

So I decided to buy one of their cheapest eye liner to test the color payoff and if it will smudge on my not so oily eyelids. I don't expect too much from this eyeliner because of the price but I've heard that Etude House's product are worth the try! I've been using this product almost everyday, during events and errands time. I'm sure you've seen reviews of this products from other local and foreign beauty bloggers around the web so here I am sharing my take on this product. So without further ado, click CONTINUE READING and see if this eye liner is a keeper or not :)

NOTD: Ruby Wing

Monday, April 28, 2014

Happy Monday dearies! Sharing with you another NOTD today with the most recent nail polish shade that I have on my toe nails. I already removed the nail polish on my finger nails last week because the edges started to chip. But before that happened, I was able to take photos so don't worry you'll still see my finger nails painted. I'm sure you already know the brand that I used in this nail of the day post because the title says Ruby Wing. It's a new brand of nail polish that changes its color outdoor. If I'm not mistaken, this brand of nail polish is exclusively available at Beauty and Butter Nails, Face and Art branches only. When I visited Beauty and Butter Fairview Terraces branch, I opted this brand since it's summer, I will see the color of my nail polish change whenever I'm out in the sun. I'm glad that I chose Ruby Wing nail polish- it makes my day bright and fun because the nail polish transforms into a new color and it's so cool! Excited to see the shades that I picked? I'll share both my manicure and pedicure color :) So click CONTINUE READING and smile!

NOTD: Neutrals

Wednesday, April 23, 2014

Yay! As promised, here's another NOTD post. I'm so excited to share the colors that I picked during my visit to Nailaholics Nail Salon and Spa last February with my sister. I think the shade that I chose is very timely for summer. Since it's scorching hot and seeing bold nail colors tend to hurt my eyes, I decided to paint my nails with neutrals. I know most of you choose neutral shades too and the more common shades are touch of tan and beige. Well, for you next neutrals may I suggest you add a touch of sophistication to your neutral shade nail polish. Why don't you try a neutral shade with purple or gray undertone? Oh before I forgot I also had my pedicure that day and chose another neutral shade that's very pretty. So without further ado here's my take on neutrals courtesy of O.P.I and Nail-a-holics Fisher Mall branch. Click CONTINUE READING to see what shades used :)

NOTD: Jada and Twill

Sunday, April 20, 2014

Happy Easter to all! Let the egg hunt begin :) So before you go out today and celebrate this special day let me share with you my first NOTD for 2014. I know it's super later post since I had this nail color last January. It's my second time using a gel polish to date and I think I already found the right kind of nail polish for my nails. My finger nails are soaked to laundry detergents and dish washing soap most of the time that's why regular and premium nail polishes easily crack and get chipped right after my manicure. I have mommy duties and I can't prevent my hands from getting wet all day long. Anyhoo, aside from my manicure I would also like to show you my pedicure because I'm really diggin' the color that I got for my toe nails. It's not gel polish though but it lasts more than 2 weeks or 1 month the most. The brand of gel nail polish that was used here is Jennifer Lynn. I'm not familiar with the brand but it's made in the US. There were so many colors to choose from and I totally had a hard time choosing because all of them looked gorgeous! NOTD: Closest Shade to Radiant Orchid

Tuesday, December 31, 2013

According to Pantone, the color of the year 2014 is Radiant Orchid. It is describes as “An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”

I'm pretty sure you've seen this nail polish color from my past post. This NOTD is courtesy of EzFlow TruGel Nail Polish Launch at the Nail Lounge Manila last October. My apologies for the late post. I just wanted to share with you the closest shade of  Radiant Orchid on my nails. The color of this gel polish from EzFlow TruGel is Frosted Amethyst. I so love this shade on my nails. It looks very dainty and neat. The shimmer adds life to the color in my opinion that's why the shade didn't look boring on my nails.

Product Review: Colour Collection Vitamin E Matte Lipstick in Electra

Thursday, October 03, 2013

Here's a review of my very first red lipstick. Red, huh?! Not all girls can pull off red shades of lipstick decently. Some may find the shade sophisticated and Elegant while others may find the shade bitchy, sluty or matronish. Picking the right shade of red to suit ones skin tone is very tricky. If you can sport red lippie anywhere and anytime then lucky you! You'll see the Anne Curtis Smith in you who can wear red lipstick in all seasons! I'm also a late bloomer when it comes to lipsticks. I started using them on a regular basis some two years ago. I was scared before to apply bold colored lippie since I have a pigmented lips. I know that opaque and bold ones will look more intense when worn knowing that I have a pigmented lips.

Before I decided to try a red shade lipstick, I search for dupes of the infamous MAC Russian Red and Ruby Woo. I didn't found a dupe that I based from the photos of Temptalia. By the way, she is a famous international beauty blogger. So my search for the perfect red lipstick was set aside when my cousin from the US bought me MAC Girl About Town- a blue based pink lipstick and instantly fell in love with the color.

Even though most of my lipsticks are pinks, I still want to try red just to see if I can wear it without looking like joker or a clown as what le hubby always jokes about. So when my sister-in-law gave me the brochure of Tupperware Brands, the distributor of Colour Collection makeup, and told me that she wanted to give me a thank you gift I didn't think twice and chose this shade. Wanna see if the lipsticks suits me? I wanna faint the first time I applied the lipstick but after three tries, I think I'm getting used to it. So here it is, Colour Collection lipstick in Electra.

Product Review: E.L.F. Blush in Flushed

Wednesday, October 02, 2013

Hellos! Here's a review of my third blush on my history of powder and cream blushers. I'm a long time cheek tint user before I started blogging and just lost my love for cheek tints when my fave cheek tint was discontinued. Anyhoo, this is an impulse buy and now I'm having a love-hate relationship with it. I bought this blush because I forgot to bring my trusted ol blush for touch up before and after the go see that I attended months ago. I was in a hurry that day and the brand that came in my mind when I pass by Landmark, Trinoma was ELF. I had a good relationship with ELF Blush in Glow before that I actually hit the pan. So without a doubt I'll pick ELF again but I was surprised that it has been repackage and not sure if the formula was reformulated too. Since I'm in a hurry, I haven't tried the blush and just bought it right away after getting from the shelves.

When I stared closely at the blush, I'm not sure if the shade suits my skin tone. I find the shade too dark on my cheeks after application. After two hours, I noticed that the color of the blush oxidized on my cheeks as it turned red. I'm not sure if it's because of the lighting on the venue's comfort room. But when I got home, I ask le hubby if I look like a clown with this blush on. He said no but with a grin on his face.

So after that incident, I decided not to use this blush again. But I'm hopeful that it will work for me on the event that I opted to use the blush again. On my recent fotd, I use this blush again and I still find it unflattering on my cheeks. Please help me decide if I'll continue to use it, read my review and see my swatch. Product Review: Colour Collection Vitamin E Matte Lipstick in Flame

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

Here's my review of another local brand of lipstick that my sister-in-law gave me last month. The two shades that she gave me were Flame- a coral shade and Elektra- a retro red shade. I'm so giddy to try Colour Collection lipstick because beauty bloggers have been giving good reviews about the product. They got their full size sample at Sample Room. I was very intrigued about the lipstick but unfortunately it's OOS when I was about to get my sample :( Thank goodness my SIL gave me two tubes of Colour Collection lipstick in shades that Sample Room didn't offered on their website.

When my SIL handed me the brochure, I was amazed to see different shades of this matte lipstick from corals, reds, pinks, browns and purples. And to my surprised, Tupperware Brands- the distributor of Colour Collection lipstick offers them in a BOGO (Buy One Get One) promo! Isn't that amazing? For just less than Five Hundred Pesos, you'll be able to get two pigmented lipstick. But the offer is for a limited time only so dearies if you chance upon a Tupperware lady near you better grab the brochure and order your own Colour Collection lipstick. So let's go now to my review, more pictures after the jump! Click CONTINUE READING please :)))
