Eye Makeup Essentials

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

Hello lovelies! I just want to share something that is very essential to me. I call this my eye makeup. Can I call this such sans the eyeshadow? Well for me, yes. Since I don't put eyeshadow even on special occasions, these things somehow makes my puffy eye bags less noticeable and my not so oily lids at bay. To complete my look, I use mascara and fill the gaps of my brows with eyebrow wax and powder.
I'll be posting my reviews on the first three listed above soon. Reviews are already posted just click the links below the photo. As of now, I'm trying to learn how to apply basic eye makeup suited for daytime work. I'll be working few months from now so I have to cope with some major adjustments at home and in my work place. This will be my first "real job" after graduating years ago. It's a long story and a bit frustrating but I can share it to you on a separate post if I have the guts to one of these days.

Any suggestions for budget friendly eye makeups e.g. undereye concealer, eyelid primer, eyeliner and eyeshadows? Thanks for sharing!

Product Review: Shawill Eyeliner Pencil in White 006

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

If there's one thing I envy with Korean Actresses and K-Pop stars, it's all about their eye makeup. I'm fond of looking their cute faces with their winged eyeliners, glittery eyes and sparkling tear liners. I love how these eye makeups make their eyes so gorgeous, big and bright. I also want to make my peepers look like them but I know it will be very hard for me since my makeup stash is small. I need to save money to buy those eye makeups and my last resort is an eyeliner for my water lines. I opt to buy this because I read in one blog that white, silver and grey eyeliner can also make the eye bigger and brighter if used in the water lines.

But the search for my very first eyeliner in white gave me feeling of dismay. I will just make a short review on this eyeliner pencil.
Shawill Eyeliner Pencil in White 006
price: 69php (Around $1.50)

place bought: Shawill Counter, TriNoma

Shawill Eyeliner Pencil in White 006
Shawill Eyeliner Pencil in White 006
Shawill Eyeliner Pencil in White 006
Swatched more than 5 times to show the color

What I like:
  • Cute packaging- there are crystals around the case for that feminine touch.
  • I consider this cheap since it costs below 100 pesos.
  • Two products in one- there's an eyebrow brush on the other end of the eyeliner.
What I don't like:
  • The color payoff is poor- I need to swatch it 5 times for the color to pop.
  • Has zero lasting power.
  • It smudges on lash line.
  • It hurts to apply on waterline, it irritates my eyes.
Will I repurchase? No

Recommendation:
I give this a 2/5 rating. What more to say? It's cheap so I guess you get your money's worth.
I think I'm on the hunt again for a good but affordable eyeliner in white, silver or beige.

Can you recommend a good eyeliner that's creamy and glides easily?I highly appreciate your recommendations. Thanks a lot for sharing!

Haul: Bath Essentials plus Makeup Stuff

Thursday, November 17, 2011

Another haul after visiting Asian Eye Institute at TriNoma. It's crazy that all sales are everywhere! TriNoma is also having a sale of up to 70% till the end of the month. I want to congratulate my self for not spending too much yesterday. Mall sales can be tempting for a cheapskate like me and I have to stop myself from buying because I'm saving for something expensive.

Anyhoo, I bought 3 soaps from All Organics, a white eyeliner, a body scrub and a substitute for my facial wipes which is OOS again. My favorite facial wipes is Neutrogena. Since I ran out of my wipes, I have to purchase Nivea instead.

L-R: All Organics Calamansi Soap, Papaya with Glutathione Soap, A Bonne' Spa White C Salt,
Shawill Eyeliner and Nivea Visage Cleansing Wipes

I will be reviewing A Bonne' Spa White C Salt Scrub on my next post. This is my HG body scrub and been using it for more than a year now. I will also share my thoughts on Nivea facial wipes and Shawill eyeliner. I need to practice lining my waterlines before making a review on Shawill eyeliner.

What's your latest haul?Happy Wednesday everyone!

Product Review: San San Gel Eyeliner with Vitamin E

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

After ranting over my E.L.F. Eyeliner Pen on my last post, this gel eyeliner saves the day!

A few months ago, I've been searching for San San Eyeliner Pen but it's always OOS. I saw this gel liner many times but I ignored it. Since I'm just starting to draw lines on my eyelid few months ago, I'm satisfied with liquid eyeliner and eyeliner pen. So when I dropped by at HBC SM Fairview branch, it was on sale so I dig in. I think it's time to try gel liner, eh?

I bought color brown, black is always OOS according to the SA and looks harsh on me.

What I like:
  • It's easy to apply, glides smoothly on my eyelids.
  • It's affordable or should I say cheap!
  • The color payoff is okay.
  • Has Vitamin E.
  • Doesn't irritate my eyes.
  • Easy to remove, I use my facial wipes no need for makeup remover.
  • Simple packaging that comes with a decent brush.
  • There's a manufacturing and expiry date.
  • Easily accessible in all HBC stores.
What I don't like:
  • Not rub/smudge-proof.
Will I repurchase: Yes! After finishing the jar that I think will go a long way.

Recommendation:
I give this a 5/5 rating. It's perfect for a newbie like me. I think this can be a HG material so I have to test and use it for one month. As for the price, it's really a steal! Since I just stay at home most of the time, a jar will last me a long time.

Do you use gel liners? What brand can you recommend?Have a great day ahead!

Product Review: E.L.F. Eyeliner Pen in Coffee 7301

Saturday, November 12, 2011

I'm was sooo excited when I finished my E.L.F. Liquid Eyeliner because I can purchase a new one. But unfortunately, it was OOS when I went to E.L.F. counter so I decided to try their eyeliner pen. I'm a bit curious on how it will fare with my weird eyelids. So when I got home, I opened it quickly to test it on my eyelids. I thought I will say that I found a backup for my eyeliner but hell no! I got very, very, very disappointed.

Guess what happened? The eyeliner dried out. The moment I opened the cap and was about to draw a line on my eyelid, I felt the tip was hard. I tried swatching it on my forearm and it was really dry. So I tried shaking it like a ball pen that ran out of ink. Nothing happened. I decided to place it upside down for 10 minutes, nothing also happened. So i decided to open it and add a few drops of eyemo and see if the ink was completely dry. With a bit of luck, it's not completely dry. I was able to use it and again unfortunately, twice.

E.L.F. Eyeliner Pen in Coffee 7301After swatching on my forearm, added a few drops of eye mo
What I like:
  • The price is affordable, I think it's cheap for a liquid eyeliner pen.
  • The staying power is okay. It lasts about 4-5 hours on me.
  • Can be easily remove by makeup remover. I use my facial wipes instead.
What I don't like:
  • The moment I opened the eyeliner, the tip was completely dry.
  • I had a hard time applying because the tip is too thin.
  • I tried to save it from completely drying by adding a few drops of eyemo but doesn't worked.
  • The color payoff is so so. Not that pigmented for my taste.
  • Used it only twice, it dried out completely.
Will I repurchase? Maybe yes? I'll give this another try if the SA will open it and try if it is dry or not. The SA also told me that I can replace it if it's dry provided with the receipt. Stupid me, I lost the receipt that's why I was't able to replace it.

Recommendation:
I give this a 2.5/5 rating. I think I need to make another review after purchasing a new one that is not dry. If your planning to buy this eyeliner, it is better to test it first so that you can replace it on the spot if you get a dry one. As for the price, it's a steal! I think no need to complain more.

Do you use eyeliner pen? What brand can you recommend? Thanks for sharing!

My hubby's payday haul

Wednesday, November 02, 2011

I'm just a plain housewife so my hubby's pay day is what I'm waiting for to do some shopping on my bath essentials and some affordable makeup. So this is what I got from Watson's Health and Beauty Store and Sm Department store.
Purederm Dual Wellbeing Pack
Asian Secrets Lulur Whitening Body Scrub with Licorice and Mulberry Extract
E.L.F. Eyeliner Pen in Coffee
I already made a review on Purederm Dual Wellbeing Pack here. This is mg HG facial mask and peeling gel. I will also make a review on Asian Secrets Lulur after two or three uses. I used another variant of this scrub a year ago the one in the green tub. The SA said that only this year that two other variants were released including this one and the one with seaweed blah. I'm still thinking if I'm going to make a review on the eyeliner because my digicam is still not workin. boo boo!

So thats all for now. I'm excited for another pay day because I'm eyeing on several makeups and to make a quick post or review on them.

Product Review: N.Y.C. Liquid Eyeliner in Pearlized Black

Wednesday, October 26, 2011

I'm a newbie when it comes to makeup. I just started applying face powder, bb cream, and lipstick a year ago. I think I'm still looking for my HG's in makeup that I'm using.

I started using eyeliner 6 months ago. My first try was from E.L.F. I know their liquid eyeliner can be a great eyeliner for beginners like me but sometimes I find it difficult applying in my eyelids. So I searched again for another eyeliner and this is what I found: N.Y.C. Liquid Eyeliner in Pearlized Black(870A).
N.Y.C. Liquid Eyeliner in Pearlized Black
N.Y.C. Or New York Color Liquid Eyeliner caught my attention because of its Line and Define Precision Brush Applicator. It also claims
N.Y.C. Liquid Eyeliner in Pearlized Black
do you want fast, fun, fabulously well-defined eyes? There's no way you can miss with. N.Y.C. Eyeliner. Light touches of the wand for fine lines... Heavy weight for dramatic lines. Long-lasting color glides on, and the narrow brush allows for precise application. Hypo-allergenic and Fragrance free.
N.Y.C. Liquid Eyeliner in Pearlized Black
size: 5ml/ 0.17fl oz.

price: 52 php (Around $1.20+) won the bid at ebay

place bought: ebay.ph

how to apply: Gently hold your eyelid taut. Getting as close as you can to your natural lash line, glide the brush across your lid from corner to corner. Light pressure will create a fine line. Increase pressure for greater width.

ingredients: Water, Propylene Glycol, Acrylates/Octylacrylamide Copolymer, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Sorbic Acid, Triethanolamine, Methylparaben, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Xanthan Gum, Lecithin, Polysorbate 20, Sorbitan Laurate, Propylene Glycol Stearate, Propylene Glycol Laurate, Benzophenone-9. May contain: Mica, Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide, Carmine, Ultramarines, Chromium Oxide Greens, Chromium Hydroxide Green, Manganese Violet.
N.Y.C. Liquid Eyeliner in Pearlized Black
Swatch: Left and Middle- once, Right- twice
N.Y.C. Liquid Eyeliner in Pearlized Black
My sister applied the eyeliner thrice on my eyelids
N.Y.C. Liquid Eyeliner in Pearlized Black

What I like:
  • Cheap
  • The brush applicator is super fine and pointy for accurate application.
  • The color is black with a soft sheen, not that harsh black compared to other black eyeliners.
  • Easy to remove, I use facial wipes to remove it.
  • Did not smudge on my eyelids.
  • Hypo-allergenic and fragrance free.
What I don't like:
  • Tugs my lids.
  • It also cracked and flaked off after it almost dried.
  • Tends to dry slower than my E.L.F. eyeliner.
  • Not easily accessible, had to buy it online.
Will I Repurchase? No. There's a lot of eyeliners out there that I'm planning to try.

Recommendation:
I give this a 3.5/5 rating. I recommend this to makeup newbies like me who wants to try a cheap eyeliner that somehow does the job. If this did not tug my lids I think I'll stick with this. I also prefer brown eyeliners  because it looks more natural on me.

Till my next review. Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone!

Haul!

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

Last Friday, We went to TriNoma for my father's monthly eye check-up at Asian Eye Institute. As usual, we waited for more than two hours because there's only one doctor attending to every patient. I'm glad that his eye condition is much better now and only one surgery left. After his check-up, I asked him to go with me at Sesou Natural Source to buy my supply of organic soaps. So here's what I got: Singkamas (Turnip) Soap which I reviewed here, Papaya with Glutathione review to follow and Calamansi Soap which I also reviewed here.
Left to Right (clockwise): Singkamas (Turnip) Soap, Papaya with  Glutathione Soap and Calamansi Soap
When I arrived home, I also received a package from sis Aimee of bigtokyo, an ebay seller. This package consist of bb cream samples (not included in the picture), an eyeliner and a mini peeling gel.
Left: Baviphat Exfoliating Brightening Mini Peeling Gel
Rigth: N.Y.C. Liquid Eyeliner in Pearlized Black
I'm excited to make a review on Papaya with Glutathione Soap and the Baviphat Exfoliating Brightening Mini Peeling Gel. I will try to compare it to the Peeling Gel included in Purederm's Dual Wellbeing Pack.

That's all for now. Until my next review!
