Product Review: Nature Republic Snail Therapy Mask Sheet

Friday, April 13, 2012

Hi! How's your day? Summer is already making its wave in our country. It's freaking hot outside and I perspire a lot! Every little move I do inside our house, I can see and feel my sweat running down my face and my back. I always tie my hair up because I know the dirt in my hair will be transferred on my face through sweat. Even though I do this the result is ginormous zits! My skin is really acting up lately. From whiteheads, blackheads, pimples and cystic acne name it and you can see them now on my face. I don't know if this is due to hormonal changes in my body because I just had my monthly period. It's weird that all of these wrath suddenly appears on my skin knowing that I haven't change my skin regimen for a long time now. Or maybe it's just our humid weather that causes flare ups on my face that is unsightly for me.

I'm desperate, I need help. I know I can't solve this overnight so what I need is to add something in my basic skin care routine. So it's time for me to use some of the products that I won last February. I opt to use this mask sheet from Nature Republic because I'm intrigued with the snail mucus thingy. I googled some information about snail slime that says can do wonders for the skin. Let's see what this can do with my icky face.

  • English text and diagram on how to use
  • decreased the redness on my zits and allergies

  • size of the mask doesn't adheres to the contours of my face
Will I repurchase? No, there's a lot of face mask variant out there to try.

Recommendation:
I give this a 3/5 rating. I think my skin is not "hiyang" with some of the ingredients that's why I break out more the next day. I'm not sure if snail is considered as seafood. I made a little research and I just got confused. So if it is, then I'm allergic to it. I have thyroid problem and a pinch of "bagoong" reacts on my skin immediately.

Any suggestions on face mask that's good for combination skin? Thanks for sharing!

Yay! My First Blog Award: Leibster Blog Award

Thursday, April 12, 2012

Time flies so fast. Six months ago, I'm just a follower, reader and commenter in this blogsphere. I never knew that I'll became a blogger too. I still remember my first post " To blog or not to blog" sharing my views about myself as a writer. Now, I'll be reaching my 100 posts and still can't believe that I can do simple product review. Two weeks ago, I recieved an award and it's an honor for me to  have this in my blog. This is the Leibster Award. I know my blog is a very simple one and being awarded means someone out there appreciates every single post that I published and learned simple things from me. I want to thank Chay of My Kichay Kit for this award.

This award is given to bloggers with less than 200 followers and after receiving it you have to pass it along to other bloggers like chain letter per se. There are simple requirements before you pass this award and it's a MUST to:

Say 7 to 10 things about myself
"Award" 7 bloggers by tagging them and letting them know so.

The first part is somewhat difficult for me because I don't know where to start. I'll just say what I think people I know will recognize that it is "ME" when they read these things:

1. I have passion for cars, I always wanted to be a racer when I was young.

2. I'm always conscious about my weight. I started crash and yo-yo diet when I was in grade six.

3.My siblings and close friends consider me as clean freak. I can't go to bed with all the mess that I see.

4. I can sing/rap some of Bone Thugs and Harmony's song.

5. I'm a frustrated medical student. I wanted to be a doctor but things went wrong during my college years.

6. I'm a late bloomer when it comes to makeup.

7. I'm very patient and has the tendency to pretend that I still can do it even if I don't.

8. I'm a coffee, milk tea and green tea addict.

9. Don't ask me for directions or else you'll end up going the wrong way.

10. I'm a tear jerker and a cry baby, romantic movies always make me cry.

So there you go, I already shared some of my best kept secrets. Hahaha! Kidding aside, I hope you'll find something about me that's interesting, if there's any :)

And now, I'm sharing this award to these lovely bloggers:

Product Review: Clairol Herbal Essences Color Me Happy Conditioner

Monday, April 09, 2012

I'm back! As in for good, the hubby gave his spare time to bring our good 'ol laptop at the repair shop and bought a new hard drive. I have mixed feelings when he told me that it's already fixed. I immediately asked him about the pictures stored in the broken hard drive and he's not sure if our photos can be retrieve. Oh well, I just have to wait and wish my luck. But I'm happy that I can update my blog on a regular basis now that I have "me time" with my laptop. No need to use the old school desktop that sucks bigtime.

If you're a follower of this blog, prolly you know that I already colored my locks more than once.  You can view my previous hair color here  and my current here. I love how my color-treated hair  brightens my face and made me look younger than my age. Since I'm already coloring my hair every three months now, I need to maintain it with the right shampoo and conditioner. After reading reviews and forums on shampoos and conditioners for color- treated hair, I decided to try Clairol Herbal Essences. This brand sounds familiar to those 90's generation kid. I remember their rose botanical variant smells divine and became my shampoo and conditioner during my elementary days! So without hesitation I gave this variant a try. I'm happy that it did not fail me because I'm on my second bottle now.

Now here's my take on Clairol Herbal Essences Color Me Happy Conditioner
serum infused formula for moisturized softness with Moroccan rose and Passion Fruit, these creamy conditioner will bring out the natural shine and vitality while helping to replenish essential moisturizers.

What I like:
  • attractive packaging, fancy design and contains trivia at the back of the bottle
  • really affordable since one bottle lasted me approximately 2 months
  • the scent is not overpowering
  • it has thick consistency unlike other local conditioners
  • a little goes a long for my thin hair
  • has manufacturing and batch date
  • made my hair soft, shiny and vibrant
  • doesn't aggravate my hair fall
  • doesn't gave me bacne and zits on the forehead

What I don't like:

  • this variant is always OOS
Will I repurchase? Yes! I'm on my second bottle now and will restock on my next haul.

Recommendation:
I give this a 4.75/5 rating. I got compliments that my hair is healthy and shiny the last time I went to a salon for my pedicure. The hair stylist asked me what kind of treatment I'm using. I told them that I'm just using this conditioner. It's truly a Color Me Happy experience, I highly recommend this product!

My Version of Magnum :)

Thursday, April 05, 2012

It's freaking hot outside. My son is craving for ice cream even though He's still suffering from coughs and colds, I bought a small cup of vanilla ice cream to satisfy him. I saw posters of the overrated Magnum ice cream every convenience store we passed by. I already tasted this Magnum ice cream and I think this is just your regular "pinipig ice cream". For me, nothing really special about it.

So when I was about to buy something for myself, I saw this ice cream bar. I don't know the brand because almost all of the text where written in Korean. I'll just call it Coffee Flavored ice cream bar.

It's like Magnum, with coffee flavored shell that cracks when you bite 'em and coffee flavored creamy ice cream inside. Not too sweet, just perfect for my taste. It's 30 pesos only, 20 or 30 pesos cheaper than the overpriced Magnum ice cream depending on where you buy it. The only downside of this is the availability. I know some convenience store doesn't sell this brand of ice cream.

What's your plan this weekend? Stay cool and be safe, ayt?

Product Review: SNOE White The Special Black Bleaching Bar

Monday, April 02, 2012

Are you ready for your summer getaway? Today is Holy Monday and some of us are getting ready to spend their summer vacation with their loved ones and friends in their provinces. I'm sure everyone is excited so get ready and pack your things ahead of time. Don't forget to bring your sunglasses and hats and put enough sunblock to protect your skin from the damaging UVA and UVB because I'm sure that Mr. Golden Sun will rise up and shine high!

So before I join the excitement of your summer vacation, I will share my thoughts about this soap. After my wonderful experience with their Vitamin C Rich Calamsi Beauty Bar and Organic Green Papaya I decided to try other variant like black bleaching bar. I know that I'm getting hooked, addicted and amazed with Snoe White beauty bar so here's my take after a month's use.
SNOE White The Special Black Bleaching Bar
SNOE White The Special Black Bleaching Bar
No.10 Snoe White The Special Black Bleaching Bar
This special black bleaching bar is used to whiten dark spots, acne blemishes, freckles and melasma. Contains fruit acids to nourish the skin. Our special formula provides intense bleaching and whitening action that creates luminous skin.
size: 150g

price: 139.75 php (Around $3.25)

place bought: Landmark, Trinoma

instruction for use: wet skin, lather beauty bar and apply thoroughly. leave on skin for 2 minutes. expect a slight tingling or prickly sensation. rinse thoroughly. for best results use sunblock with spf30 after bathing.

ingredients: Alpha Hydroxy Acid, High Grade Coconut Oil

What I like:
  • It's organic!
  • Cute and fancy packaging.
  • Doesn't melt fast.
  • I feel a stinging sensation and tightening of my pores.
  • There's a lightening on my blemishes, particularly on dried zits.
  • My skin looks luminous when I look in the mirror.
  •  I experienced micro peeling on sides of my nose.
  • Easily accessible.
  • Affordable.
  • Yay! Manufacturing and expiry dates are already stamped on the packaging ^_^
What I don't like:
  • No batch, manufacturing and expiry date
  • A bit drying on skin.
Will I repurchase? Yes! I'm on my second bar nth bar now. I want to use it continuously but there's a precaution that says "Shift to another Snoe White Beauty Bar variant after three months of continuous use to let the skin rest. You may resume usage of our special black bleaching beauty bar one month after".

Recommendation:
I give this soap a 5/5 rating. Use the soap as instructed. Follow their recommendation I mentioned above so that your skin will have resting period and consult a dermatologist first because this may not be suited for sensitive skin. Always use sunblock with spf 30 or higher to protect your skin from the sun. Organic soap does not contain any soap hardener and our hot humid weather will make the soap melt faster. I always cut the soap in half. I highly recommend this soap, my skin loves it!

What SNOE variant you want to try?Share your thoughts!
