Product Review: Nature Republic Watery Sun Cream 30 PA++

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

Hello ladies, happy Monday! Start your week right by smiling and think of positive things coming your way :D Today I'm going to share an important addition to my skin care routine. I'm guilty of neglecting this ever since I became aware on the importance of basic skin care. I always skip sunblock. I have this notion before that sunblock is only used during summer and when you're going to the beach. I also have sensitive nose that I dislike the scent of most sunblock being sold in the market before. The only brand that I knew was Coppertone and Banana Boat. Silly me! The effects of UVA/UVB is now taking its toll on me. Tiny dark spots or freckles are visible on my cheeks. But I'm still lazy putting sunblock on my face. When bb creams came out, I'm relieved because it's all-in-one. Tinted moisturizer + sunblock + whitening + anti-aging, it's like a miracle in a bottle. So I rely on bb creams for sun protection.

When I read a post that spf on a bb cream is not enough to shield the skin from damaging sun rays, I decided to include sunblock on my skin care regimen. There's so many different brand of sunblock in the market today. The higher the spf, the better in shielding your skin from the damaging UV rays. My current sunblock contains only spf30 that I think is good for me since I'm always indoors. This sunblock is also a part of the birthday blog sale giveaway that I won so it's only half of the tube when I received it. I considered this as my first sunblock since I'm using this everyday :D

Nature Republic Watery Sun Cream 30 PA++
Simple packaging, tube type

Nature Republic Watery Sun Cream 30 PA++
I like this nozzle type because you can control the amount of product coming out of the tube.

This white cream has a medium like consistency. Swatch under different lightning

Blended on my hand, you can see there's a white cast. I had a hard time taking photo with flash on because it's too reflective.

What I like:
  • The scent is nice. It's not overpowering like Coppertone and Banana Boat.
  • A little goes a long way.
  • Water-proof.
  • Applies velvety smooth and has a bit of glittery effect that's not noticeable
  • Doesn't break me out, no allergic reactions whatsoever.
  • Doesn't make my skin oily.
What I don't like:
  • Has only spf 30. ( I searched the internet and saw that this variant has spf 50 too)
  • There' a white cast even though it has low spf content.
  • Since I bought it pre-loved, I don't know the product information.

Will I repurchase? No. I want to try western brands like Neutrogena and Nivea.

Recommendation:
I give this a 3/5 rating. I'm happy with this purchase at least I got to try a sunscreen on its own. Now is the time to hunt for my HG sunblock, since this is important to prevent aging skin and cancer I will consider buying even those expensive ones.

What's your favorite sunblock?Any recommendations? Thanks for sharing!

Product Review: Nature Republic Aqua Collagen Solution Marine Hydro Gel Eye Patch

Monday, April 23, 2012

I'm not alone! Almost 80% of my friends and relatives suffers from sleepless nights leading to sleep deprivation. After giving birth three years ago my body clock became abnormal. My son's sleeping pattern is very abnormal. He's wide-awake at night and sleeping all day. Since I'm the one taking care of him, I need to follow his sleeping routine. But there were times that I really can't sleep and just wasting my time lying in bed. A sleepless night ruins everything. What's the most noticeable thing when you didn't get enough sleep or no sleep at all? It's our eyes! Dark under eyes and puffy eyebags are really obvious and can be a bit tricky to hide.

The most common solution to hide dark under eye is a concealer. There are lots of concealer to chose from. I'm not a makeup/beauty expert so I can't tell what a good concealer should be. All I know is that there are different kinds of concealer and finding the right one is a trial and error matter. What I want to share with you now is another remedy for those pesky dark eyebags. I'm not sure if I can call this post a review because some information are written in Korean. I don't understand it thus I lack the information regarding this thing.

I know Korean cosmetics offer a wide range of choices for makeup and skin care. Their the ones who introduced BB creams and I owe my better skin from using this. So when I received my Nature Republic loot that I won from a giveaway, I'm giddy to try products that were new to me. I saw this eye patch thing-y and always forgot the name because it's too long. It's called Nature Republic Aqua Collagen Solution Marine Hydro Gel Eye Patch ( hingal... hingal )

Is this the answer to my dark under eyes and puffy eyebags? Looking at the product alone and the word collagen on the package somehow gave me initial impression that this thing will work. But when I turn it on the other side, I don't see English translation of the product information, ingredients, manufacturing and expiration date. I also want to know if this eye patch is reusable. So thank you for the diagram that shows you how to use the eye patch

I just used my phone camera here, that's why I wasn't able to show how dark my under eye was. No picture of the eye patch itself but looking from this on my under eye, it's like a jello/ Gel and a bit hard to remove from the packaging that it might break or something. It's thin but not paper thin. Gives a cooling sensation upon application and doesn't slides off my under eye even if I stand from time to time. It's very relaxing and those with sensitive nose will not be bother because it's unscented. Here's the result after 30 minutes:

I don't know if there's a huge difference from the before and after photo. I guess using this regularly will give the best results. But it feels really good specially when you want to relax and pamper yourself at home. I'll just rely on my Garnier BB Under Eye Roll On for the mean time to mask my sleepless nights.

How do you take good care of your eyes?Do you use under eye creams and patches? I appreciate all your recommendations. Thanks for sharing!

Product Review: Nature Republic Snail Therapy Mask Sheet

Friday, April 13, 2012

Hi! How's your day? Summer is already making its wave in our country. It's freaking hot outside and I perspire a lot! Every little move I do inside our house, I can see and feel my sweat running down my face and my back. I always tie my hair up because I know the dirt in my hair will be transferred on my face through sweat. Even though I do this the result is ginormous zits! My skin is really acting up lately. From whiteheads, blackheads, pimples and cystic acne name it and you can see them now on my face. I don't know if this is due to hormonal changes in my body because I just had my monthly period. It's weird that all of these wrath suddenly appears on my skin knowing that I haven't change my skin regimen for a long time now. Or maybe it's just our humid weather that causes flare ups on my face that is unsightly for me.

I'm desperate, I need help. I know I can't solve this overnight so what I need is to add something in my basic skin care routine. So it's time for me to use some of the products that I won last February. I opt to use this mask sheet from Nature Republic because I'm intrigued with the snail mucus thingy. I googled some information about snail slime that says can do wonders for the skin. Let's see what this can do with my icky face.

Recommendation:
I give this a 3/5 rating. I think my skin is not "hiyang" with some of the ingredients that's why I break out more the next day. I'm not sure if snail is considered as seafood. I made a little research and I just got confused. So if it is, then I'm allergic to it. I have thyroid problem and a pinch of "bagoong" reacts on my skin immediately.

Any suggestions on face mask that's good for combination skin? Thanks for sharing!
