How to Get Rid of Pimples while Boosting Immune System

Thursday, October 22, 2020

Let's admit that in almost 7 months of quarantine, our lifestyle has changed dramatically. We are all stressed and we cannot deny the fact that it affected us in so many ways. One aspect of our lives that we have given utmost importance is health. We all suddenly became health buffs and fitness enthusiasts because having a strong immune system these days is non-negotiable. But we must also give importance to another aspect that's affecting us mentally- stress!

The pandemic has instilled fear among us and whether we like it or not, we are always overthinking. This habit has contributed to our sleepless nights and hormonal imbalance that's why some of us are experiencing breakouts here and there. Another cause of nasty zits popping in our cheeks and jaw area is the use of a face mask. We are obliged to wear a face mask in public and the material or cloth used in face masks irritates our skin. Fret not because there are effective pimple treatments in the market today and I'm excited to present the first over-the-counter drug that is a clinically-tested and FDA-approved anti-acne and pimple treatment solution in the Philippines- Lactezin. Know more about this after the jump!

Product Review: AcneCare Acne Drying Lotion

Thursday, April 28, 2016

Looks like there's another pimple and zit buster in town. Vida Nutriscience Inc., the makers of AcneCare Capsule and AcneCare Soap made their own version of Mario Badescu Drying Lotion but for a fraction of the cost. Last year, (yes, this is a long overdue post) Vida Nutriscience Inc. sent me the newest addition to their anti-acne skin care product line to try. I received boxes of AcneCare soap which I will just give a short shout out in this post as I haven't use a bar until now.

This post will mainly focus on AcneCare Acne Drying Lotion which I presume that is receiving positive reviews from other bloggers who have tried it. I've been using this product once a month, pre-menstrual or post-menstrual period where one or two cystic pimples appear either on my chin or cheeks. By the way, I found out that this product is available at http://www.cheskasstore.net/ if it's always out of stock in other stores. So without further ado, here is my honest to goodness review of AcneCare Acne Drying Lotion.

Product Review: AcneCare Acne Drying Lotion

AcneCare Drying Lotion is a fast acting, effective acne spot solution for all skin types. Here are the key ingredients:
  • Zinc Oxide- It helps clear up acneic skin due to sun's UV rays, pollution, harsh weather, dry air, bacteria, viruses, chemicals in personal care products, poor diet, stress, and lack of exercise can all damage skin on a daily basis.
  • Titanium Dioxide- An active ingredient that is used as a coloring agent, whitener, thickening agent, and sunscreen.

Product Review: AcneCare Acne Drying Lotion
L- small pimple, it's already on the 'hinog' stage.
R- how it looks like after application of AcneCare Acne Drying Lotion.

What I like:
  • The price is very affordable if I'll do the math because I only need a little amount to cover my zit/s.
  • A little amount goes a long way.
  • There's a minty and cooling sensation once the product is applied on my angry, reddish, and painful zit.
  • Doesn't burn or peel the site where I applied it.
  • Dries quickly upon application.
  • It can dry up a small pimple overnight.
  • There's a minty and cooling sensation that I felt upon application. It's soothing and can calm redness.
  • No further irritation, breakouts, or whatsoever.
  • Batch, manufacturing, expiration date printed on the bottle.
  • Easily accessible.

What I don't like:
  • The packaging is flimsy.
  • I wish it's in a more decent bottle packaging.
  • Always OOS. (out of stock)
  • There's a herbalish scent that my nose can't tolerate.

Will I repurchase? Yes, but not for now as I still have a back-up bottle in my stash.

Recommendations:
I give this a 4.75/5 rating. This is easy to apply just get a cotton bud and dip inside the bottle to get the pink sediment and apply it to your pimple/s. I highly recommend this product because it really works. For small pimples, it will take overnight but for those with a moderate case, it takes two to three days in my experience before the pimple/s shrink in size and totally dry itself.

Even though the recommended dose of application is once a day, I apply it twice especially if a pimple is big and painful. What you need to do if you're just staying at home is apply this after a bath and after washing your face at night before bedtime.

Avène Cleanance EXPERT Acne Solution Launch

Monday, November 16, 2015

Hi dearies! How's everyone doing lately? Christmas is just around the corner but honestly speaking I can't feel the cold breeze yet. It's still very hot and humid in the afternoon, right? I'm excited when ber months arrive because cold weather for me means less oiliness and pimples. Do you feel the same? I don't want to blame the weather but in my experience, excessive sweating on my scalp and forehead leads to a pimple of two at the end of the day. That's how sensitive my skin is.

Did you know that Acne affects 80 percent of teenagers and 40 percent of adults worldwide. While this chronic inflammatory disease is treatable, making effective treatment to solve the condition is essential not only to smoothen the skin but also boost a person’s confidence. This is why when you have a pimple you want to hide it, conceal it, and when it dries, you want the dark marks and blemishes disappear because it can lower self-esteem. I was very privileged to be invited to the launch of Avene Cleanance EXPERT Acne Solution last October at the ground floor of SM Department Store, Makati City. More details about the product line below.
Avène Cleanance EXPERT Acne Solution Launch
Eau Thermale Avène—the leading dermo-cosmetic brand in Europe launched Cleanance EXPERT, a daily treatment which targets unwanted spots and blackheads. The exclusive distributor of Eau Thermale Avène products in the Philippines- Karihome Inc's General Manager Harry Tsai shared that acne usually takes a toll on a person’s self-esteem. Some even avoid going out with altogether or meet new people. These situations are very alarming according to him. But with the Avène Cleanance EXPERT products, people with acne-prone skin can finally have the confidence to face people.

Reasons why the new Cleanance EXPERT products are perfect for individuals suffering from mild to moderate acne?

  • This line is especially made for acne-prone skin, eliminating mild to moderate blemishes.
  • This acne treatment solution also hydrates and mattifies the skin minimizing shine.
  • This is safe for use by people with sensitive skin and that makes Avene a trusted brand by doctors and pharmacists.
  • Eau Thermale Avène’s Cleanance EXPERT is specifically formulated using three active ingredients: Diolényl which limits the risk of bacterial proliferation, reduces redness and helps eliminate spots; X-Pressin which reduces blackheads and smoothens the skin’s texture; and Monolaurin which regulates the hyperproduction of sebum to create a matte finish.
  • It’s oil-free light emulsion is very easy to apply.
  • Quickly absorbed, it leaves the skin feeling hydrated and mattified.
  • It makes a good make-up base.
  • Rich in ATSW known for its soothing and anti-irritating properties, it will perfectly respect the balance of your skin.

The primary ingredient in Eau Thermale Avène product is the thermal spring water. It is the main ingredient that soothes, softens and restores the skin's natural balance. In fact, there more than 300 studies that prove the healing properties of thermal water. This core ingredient has been used for centuries at the Avène Hydrotherapy Center to address even the most severe dermatological conditions like atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, ichthyosis and burns.

During the event, the Avène Cleanance EXPERT team invited a dermatologist to explain further the importance of knowing the right kind of products in treating acne. Dr. Blossom T. Chan of Philippine Dermatological Society explained to us that there are important steps in treating and maintaining an acne free skin.

It is important to use non-comedogenic products like gel cleansing/facial wash which is best for oily/acne prone skin, use an alcohol-free toner to nourish and prep the skin then apply a serum or spot treatment cream to blemishes. The Cleanance skincare line includes the flagship products like Cleansing Gel and Mattifying Toner.

I strongly believe that when a skin care product comes in a set/line- a cleanser/facial wash, toner, cream/serum, it should be used consistently as a whole so that each of the product's ingredients will work hand in hand. In line with this, here's a guide and a ritual on how to use other Avène products in conjunction with the Cleanance EXPERT for an acne-free skin :)

Feature: The Skin Specialist's Erase Laser

Friday, December 26, 2014

Hello dearies! I know you're still on Christmas high after the parties, reunions and gathering that you've been. It's been a month of late nights for me as I'm finishing backlogs and running errands while experiencing holiday rush including shopping in between. I'm stressed lately and it shows how my skin looks like these past few days.

My skin is acting up, zits are popping up on my chin and on my cheeks. I know that after a week, the redness and itchiness will subside but the post acne marks will remain. Since I have a fair skin, dark pimple marks are pretty obvious. Whitening skin care products will do the job but it takes a month or more before achieving maximum results. New year is just 5 days away and the only thing I know that will give an instant result in lightening pimple marks is the Erase Laser by The Skin Specialist. I'm so excited try this pigment lightening machine on my stubborn freckles and dark marks but for now let me share with you information about the first Erase Laser in the country brought to us by The Skin Specialist. Product Review: Quick FX Pimple Eraser

Sunday, September 30, 2012

Hi dearies! Today I want to share my thoughts on this cheap and effective product that I dared to try hoping that it will help me lighten up dark marks on my face caused by pimples. I saw this at Watson's months ago and I'm a bit skeptical if this product will work. Whenever I shop for my toiletries, my eyes were glued on this but I always resists the urge thinking that it will not work because it's cheap and never heard of the brand before. If I'm not mistaken, I attempted to put this on my shopping basket more than five times and when I'm going to pay for it, I will just leave it on the counter or inside my shopping basket thinking that it's just a waste of money if I'll purchase it.

So when my skin was acting up last month, I decided to take extra care of it by adding spot treatments. I searched for a zit zapper and I found a good one here. Pimples will leave a mark or post pigmentation that will eventually lighten up on it's own but it will take more than a month or longer depending on our skin's ability to regenerate. But for some individuals like me who have fair skin, this dark marks or blemishes look very unsightly. I can use a concealer to hide those marks and a heavy duty concealer that is pretty expensive will do the job. Since I'm a cheapskate, I'll look for another alternative.

Quick FX Pimple Eraser
helps dry up pimples, helps diminish and reduce dark spots due to scarring, helps protect the skin against the sun
I have no choice but to brave myself and try this Quick FX pimple eraser that I've been tempting to buy at Watsons long time ago. Well, I think my curiosity paid off :D Even if I'm thinking of the worst (negative reaction of my skin to the product) during my first application, my fingers were crossed and I patiently waited for the result. I can't assure you that this product works 100% but at least, I saw some changes and still hoping that it will lighten my blemishes more after using it for a longer period of time.
  • With Glycolic Acid that rejuvenates and evens out skin tone. It also clears pores by removing old and dead skin, exposing healthy skin cells underneath.
  • With Salicylic Acid that helps prevent and treat pimples. It also clears out blemishes, fine lines, and dark spots.
  • With Zinc Oxide that helps control inflammations and relieves the skin against irritation and rash. It also helps provide superior protection against the harmful rays of the sun.
  • With Vitamin C that helps protect against UVB rays and can help combat sun damage. It also decreases wrinkles and lightens pigmented skin.
  • With Niacinamide that helps lighten dark spot. It also helps in the treatment of acne.

Quick FX Pimple Eraser
Thick consistency so a little goes a long way.

size: 10g

price: 49.75 php (Around $1.00+)

place bought: Watsons Sm Fairview

instructions for use: Gently apply on the area affected by pimples. Apply two times a day, morning and night.

ingredients: Aqua, Mineral Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol (and) Ceteareth-20, Zinc Oxide, Isopropyl Myristate, Stearic Acid, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate, Butyrospermum Parkii, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycolic Acid, Niacinamide, Methylisothiazolinone and Chlorphenesin, Salicylic Acid, Ethyl Ascorbic Acid.

What I like:
  • The price is a steal! It's cheap compared to other whitening spot treatment in the market.
  • Unscented.
  • No allergic reaction, breakouts or whatsoever.
  • A little goes a long way.
  • Contains 5 active ingredients that perform different function to combat skin imperfections.
  • I noticed that some pimple marks lightened after three weeks of religious application.
  • There's a bit of peeling on the newly dried pimple and post acne scar.
  • Batch, manufacturing and expiration date is stamped on the packaging.

What I don't like:
  • The packaging- you have to transfer the product to a small pot container. I think it's more convenient to use if they place the product in a tube-type container.
  • Takes a little time and effort to absorb.

Will I repurchase? Yes!

Recommendation:
I give this a 4.25 4.75/5 rating. I use this together with Celeteque Acne Spot Corrector Gel and with patience of applying both product day and night, I can say that there's an improvement on the size and intensity of blemishes and dark spots on my face. This cream does not produce significant results overnight so be patient and apply it religiously. If you have spare time, you can apply the product more than twice like what I do to speed up the lightening process. Make sure you do a patch test before applying the product. It contains mineral oil so to those allergic to it just skip this.

Do you use spot treatment cream to lighten pimple marks? Thanks for sharing!

Good Times!~
