OLX Possibili-tree Launch

     Christmas is the time of sharing and giving. We all feel 'blessed' during the holiday season because we have received the following: the most awaited 13th, 14th, and 15th month pay, salary bonus, sales commission, new gadget, new car, new house, one or all the material things that's on our wishlist. Don't get me wrong but this is the reality. We all have worked hard for it and we deserve to be rewarded this season. But aside from the material things that we receive, there's another way of making holiday season 'blessed' and meaningful. This is by sharing our blessing to the less fortunate families here in our country.

     I was invited by OLX last December 15 at Gateway Mall to join the launch of their advocacy this holiday season entitled Pay it forward this Holiday season with the OLX Possibili-tree. This Christmas, OLX has partnered with Save the Children in raising funds that will go to programs dedicated to creating better lives for children and their families here in the Philippines. This shared goal has led to the creation of the OLX Possibili-tree. Details of this fund raising and highlights of the event below.

Jollibee's 21st Maaga ang Pasko Toy and Book Drive

     I'm proud to say that Kenzo loves sharing his old toys with the less fortunate children. Whenever we go out and see them in the streets, he always tell me that he will keep his old toys and give it to them next time we go back to the place where we saw them. Aside from this, Kenzo also donated some of his stuff toys last Christmas in Jollibee's Maaga ang Pasko toy and book drive. I presume you've seen a big box containing toys and books inside the Jollibee stores. This is their way of giving back to the less fortunate children. 

     Making every Christmas brighter and more joyful for over two decades, Jollibee celebrated the launch of Maaga ang Pasko, now on its 21st year. This 2015, the country’s longest-running annual toy and book drive is continuing its mission to inspire more kindhearted Filipinos to donate gifts and spread the early Christmas cheer to less fortunate kids.

     Spearheading the donation drive as lead Jolly Toy Scouts are child actor Marco Masa, The Voice Kids Philippines Season 1 grand winner Lyca Gairanod and finalist Darlene Vibares, and Goin’ Bulilit kids Angelo Alayon, JM Gacayan, and Belle Mariano. The new batch of Jolly Toy Scouts hope to inspire other kids like them to share their pre-loved toys and books to make other kids happy.

     During the various campaign launches held nationwide, these kids led by example by donating their own toys and books. Eleven-year-old Darlene gave away a coloring storybook that her beloved grandfather gave to her. “I learned how to read through this book,” she said. “I hope whoever receives it enjoys the stories as much as I did.” Like Darlene, JM also donated a gift for budding bookworms. “My wish is that like me, another child gets to benefit from reading this book.” 

     A teddy bear that is dear to her heart was 10-year-old Lyca’s contribution. “It’s important to me because it was given by a fan. I always have this doll beside me when I sleep at night because it’s one of my favorites,” the young singing champion said.

     For Marco, it was a cherished toy plane that his older brother gave to him. “I really love this toy but I want to make other kids happy this Christmas, so I am donating it,” he said.

     Angelo decided to give something for other kids like him who like toy automobiles. “This car and train were given by my daddy when I was four years old. To whoever receives them, merry Christmas!”

     Belle donated a ball that she treasures. “I won this in an arcade game for my little brother,” she said. “He has grown bigger now and is interested in other toys, so I thought other younger kids would appreciate it more.”

     The Jolly Toy Scouts were joined by Jollibee Kids Club (JKC) members from Jollibee branches in Tanza, Cavite, Walter Mart in North EDSA, Guiguinto Highway in Bulacan, Ayala Cebu, Gaisano Tibungco in Davao, and Amang Rodriguez in Pasig City, who all shared their pre-loved toys and books to the Maaga ang Pasko campaign.

     Apart from leading the donations, the Jolly Toy Scouts also delighted kids and kids-at-heart with their performances of favorite Christmas carols. They even performed a special number with everyone’s favorite friend – Jollibee—putting the audience in a festive holiday mood. What’s more, the stars pledged to help make the holiday season more meaningful, leading the JKC members in putting their names in the commitment wall to help inspire other kids and kids-at-heart to follow suit. 

     “For us Filipinos, Christmas is not only a time to celebrate, but also a time to share and be a blessing to our fellowmen,” said Jollibee Global Brand Chief Marketing Officer and Jollibee Philippines Marketing head Francis Flores. “We are always thankful for the incredible support that Maaga ang Pasko receives from Filipinos for the past two decades. This year, we are counting on our Jolly Toy Scouts to once again help us spread Christmas joy to more kids in need.”

     After sharing with you my gift ideas for men this Christmas, here's another list to help you decide on what to give your girlfriends this holiday season.      And it's thirty days to go before Christmas, I'm still narrowing down the list of things that men, including my brothers, brother-in-laws, father, and my husband would love to receive this Christmas.      This fashion item is becoming a favorite and a must-have for men these days. If my memory serves me right, some men prefer not to bring a small bag when strolling at the mall or grocery shopping with the family. They just want to keep their wallet inside their pocket and hold their mobile phones. But today, I've seen men sporting sling bags in different sizes and shapes. Hubby received a sling bag last year that's been used and abused already.

4. Shoes

     This gift item can be a bit expensive from the rest on the list but once received, a big smile on their faces will be seen. Who doesn't want to have a new pair of kicks this Christmas, right? 5. Wallet

     This prolly one of the basics but giving him a wallet will instill a habit of saving money. One of my bothers don't own a decent wallet before and he is complaining that there were times he forgot where he put his bills. I discovered that he only owns a small coin purse and don't mind having a wallet. He insisted that as long there's a coin purse, there's a place for paper bills. Fast forward today, he realized that a foldable wallet is important. It's not only for money, some of his important identification cards can be placed inside too. He was able to save money too because once he placed a paper bill inside, he's thinking twice whether to spend it or not especially if the paper bills are new.

     Second that I've been dreaming of all these years is NARS Blush in Orgasm. I saw this blush shade from the makeup kit of celebrities like Lucy Torres. I fell in love with the shade years ago and I said to myself that I will save up to buy a pan in the future. Now, I already have this. Thanks to Beauty MNL :)

     The following beauty products you'll see below are the products that I dubbed as not easily accessible. I can't say it's hard to find because there are online shops who also sell these brands BUT the only problem I always encounter is it's either the shade is out of stock, the product hasn't arrived yet or simply it available in selected shops. First is Naturactor Cover Face Foundation. This shade is always OOS or hard to find, good thing Beauty MNL offers a wide selection of shades. So when I saw the shade 130, I immediately placed it in my shopping cart.

     Another product that I can't find in stores, malls and local online shops is Davines Oi Oil. This is my favorite high-end hair product. When I emptied one bottle, I had a hard time finding a new one as I need to look for selected salons carrying the brand. It took me months to restock on this but to no avail. The only answer is Beauty MNL. I bought a new bottle that will last me a long time!

     And lastly, a new lip balm from Shiseido. I'm not sure if this is available in Shiseido counters. I picked this because I'm running out of lip balm the time I'm shopping at Beauty MNL. Out of curiosity, I bought one. Well, it's something new for me and since the brand is Shiseido no need for me to ask why.
