Turning Dreams Into Reality: My Personal Sakses Story with PLDT Home Fiber Prepaid

Wednesday, September 24, 2025

Home is where hustle meets heart, and where true success begins. That’s why, when I was given the opportunity to become a stay-at-home mom, I embraced it wholeheartedly. It wasn’t an easy decision as some of my personal plans and dreams had to be set aside, but the joy of witnessing my son blossom each day was simply irreplaceable. Years later, another door opened, and I proudly stepped into the role of a work-at-home mom. My first side hustle was digital content creation, and today, fueled by passion and the desire to build something tangible, I took a leap of faith and opened my very own waffle and brew corner.

Balancing family, finances, and my hustle has never been easy. There were moments when bills piled up, responsibilities at home became overwhelming, and I still had to find the energy to push through with my dreams. Running a food business added another layer of challenge. Early mornings to prepare ingredients, late nights counting sales, and days when foot traffic was slow, and I questioned if I had made the right choice. There were times when I worried about food spoilage, rising supply costs, and whether I could keep up with the demands of both my family and my business. But in between the struggles came small yet meaningful wins: seeing a customer return for their favorite drink, hearing compliments about the cozy space I built from scratch, and watching sales slowly but surely grow. Those moments reminded me that every ounce of effort was worth it. Instead of giving up, I chose to take things one step at a time and find my own diskarte by balancing the sacrifices with the joy of creating something that not only supports my family but also brings happiness to others.

Your hard work and sleepless nights have finally paid off. You bravely set your fears and doubts aside, and leaned heavily on prayer and here you are.

From Dream to Triumph: Celebrating the Journey of a Madiskarte Mom!

Once business operations are firmly established, entering reputable business awards becomes a strategic necessity—serving as third-party validation, boosting credibility, visibility, and trust among customers, partners, and investors; research shows that 75% of consumers prefer award-winning businesses, 70% of businesses report increased publicity, 41% experience immediate revenue growth after winning, and 80% of employees feel more motivated when their company is recognized (Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce). Add to that heightened media and PR opportunities that extend beyond the award night, delivering long-lasting brand exposure and competitive differentiation.

Awards aren’t just about the cash prize, they are catalysts for connection, recognition, and growth, especially once a business is firmly established. Earning a nomination alone can open doors by spotlighting a brand’s story and earning the trust of one’s community. It’s also a powerful morale booster, an affirmation that the late nights, bold ideas, and relentless effort truly pay off and best of all, recognition endures.

Connected Moms Lead: Building a Stronger Community for Filipino Moms, This Women’s Month

Saturday, March 08, 2025

The relentless demands of modern motherhood, amplified by digital expectations, leave 66% of Filipino moms struggling to balance work and family. This year’s Women’s Month celebration spotlights the efforts of hardworking women, including moms wearing many hats. Following the National Women’s Month theme of “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas,” Madiskarte Moms PH’s Connected Moms Lead campaign speaks to the importance of equipping moms with the right tools, skills, and digital connectivity to navigate modern life. Gawad Madiskarte 2024 Winners by Madiskarte Moms PH

Thursday, October 31, 2024

Women, especially mothers, who are entrepreneurs have proven time and again that they have the passion and grit to make a difference in their families’ lives. “You work wonders in three different worlds: the world of home, your own personal growth, and the world of business. You're actually doing three times the work that men are doing,” said PLDT Chief Operating Officer Menardo “Butch” Jimenez, addressing the mompreneurs in the room during Gawad Madiskarte 2024 at Seda Hotel in BGC last October 19.

This is the third awards ceremony that Madiskarte Moms PH (MMPH) and PLDT Home have staged since the founding of the group in 2020. Jimenez added that the true winners are the moms, and that this year’s awardees have inspired many moms to become entrepreneurs “and eventually our whole country will benefit from what the Madiskarte Moms are doing.”

(L-R): - Melissa Vergel de Dios, Chief Sustainability Officer, PLDT, Inc., Butch Jimenez, Chief Operating Officer, PLDT Inc., Stephanie Lee Morales, Diskarteng Angat (Start-up), Bianca Mateum, Diskarteng Eco-friendly (Scale-up), Ricca Cruz Del Rosario, Diskarteng Angat (Scale-up), Avon Tuazon Obedoza, Diskarteng May Puso (Start-up), MK Bertulfo, Diskarteng Digital and Diskarteng Homebiz, Alona Bazar Laylo, Diskarteng May Puso (Scale-up), Jenielyn P. Sicabalo, Entrepreneurial Spirit Award (Special Citation), Melissa Blanca Moscoso, Diskarteng Eco-friendly (Start-up) winners and Ms. Ermelita Valdeavilla, Chairperson of Philippine Commission on Women

Now with 191,000 members in the community, MMPH has indeed come a long way from its founding during the pandemic. This year’s awards are focused on sustainable practices, a commitment PLDT shares.
“For us at PLDT, sustainability is not only caring for the environment, but it's also about gender empowerment. This is the embodiment of gender empowerment because it allows women not only to dream, but to take action and to make a difference in society,” said PLDT Chief Sustainability Officer Melissa Vergel De Dios.

One of the most admired women at last Saturday’s event was Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) Chairwoman Ermelita V. Valdeavilla. She highlighted that authentic women empowerment is about uplifting other women, and that being “madiskarte” holds so much power.
“Madiskarte is a powerful word,” Valdeavilla said, and wondered out loud why there is not a single word in the English language that could approximate its meaning. “In English, it is translated as strategic, wise, smart, inventive, ingenious, resourceful, clever, witty, innovative, and proactive. Yes, it takes 10 English words to describe madiskarte.” At last Saturday’s awards, eight women were highlighted as the embodiment of the word “madiskarte.”

Diverse Businesses

Gawad Madiskarte 2024 received more than 100 applications, shortlisted 17 mompreneurs and their businesses, and awarded 8 mompreneurs in two main categories (Start-up and Scale-up) and three special awards.

This year’s panel of judges was composed of Butch Jimenez; Jonjon San Agustin, Executive Vice President for Marketing, SM Supermalls; Tweetie de Leon, mompreneur, owner of TdLG Designs; Angelica Chongco, owner of Mayumi Organics; Pia Hontiveros, broadcast journalist; and Annette Gozon-Valdes, President, GMA Films.

For this year’s Diskarteng Angat category, the winners are Stephanie Morales, who put up a self-portrait studio called Pixellab (Start-up); and Ricca Cruz del Rosario, who started HTP Clothing (Scale-up) simply from the desire to sell her own clothes, and now sells about 30,000 pieces of clothing a month.

For Diskarteng Eco-Friendly, the winners are Melissa Blanca Moscoso for Xavier & Xandrie Start-up, which uses discarded katsa or discarded flour sacks and turns them into bags; and Bianca Mateum of Isay Bags (Scale-up), which upcycles waste into bags and storage items.

For Diskarteng May-Puso, Avon Tuazon Obedoza opened Bahay Ugnayan Educational Services (Start-up), an after-school tutoring service that frees up moms’ time after work for more personal time with their families; and Alona Bazar Laylo, who put up Jobiba Baby Diapers and Wipes (Scale-up), a low-cost, high-quality brand of diapers.

All six women each received P100,000 in cash, Lalamove vouchers worth P10,000, and kitchen appliances from Tough Mama.

In the special awards category, Jenilyn P. Sicabalo won the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award for her business MP Nieva Flower Shop, which grows the abaca used for bouquet wraps. She won P50,000, Lalamove vouchers and Tough Mama products.

Meanwhile, MK Bertulfo, founder of FH Moms, won both the Diskarteng Digital and Diskarteng Homebiz awards. Her business helps women in MSMEs participate in the digital economy, providing training and education in conducting business online, setting up e-commerce platforms, and other digital strategies. She won a total of P100,000 for both awards, along with Lalamove vouchers and Tough Mama products.

Building Empires from Home: Celebrating Sustainable Businesses by Mompreneurs

Tuesday, October 15, 2024

Filipino mothers are the role models the world needs. Not only are they caring, nurturing and resilient, they also bring communities together and embody the country’s spirit of innovation. When something is lacking, they find ways to make it whole; when they are constrained by their financial situation, they dig deep into their experiences to find solutions.

They do all this with a smile as they share advice and encourage each other. These are the moms of Madiskarte Moms PH (MMPH), an online community of mom entrepreneurs helping women start their path to financial freedom. Founded during the pandemic when thousands of women lost their jobs, moms added another role to their name: mompreneur.

For these Mompreneurs, Independence Day takes on Several Meanings

Wednesday, June 12, 2024

As we commemorate the country’s 126th Independence Day, we also reflect on its meaning and relevance in today's world. Just as we had inspiring heroes fighting for the Philippines’ right to self-government and freedom from colonial rule in 1898, we have modern-day heroes that continue to contribute to the nation’s growth and to individual self-sufficiency today. These are Filipinos who overcome hardships to achieve personal and financial empowerment through entrepreneurship. According to the Philippine Institute for Development Studies, MSMEs “generate 62.4 percent of the country's total employment, contribute 36 percent of gross value added, and account for 25 percent of total exports.”

Madiskarte Moms PH, an online community that supports starting and established mompreneurs, exemplifies the enduring spirit of Filipinos whose businesses create opportunities for our people. By creating products using materials and designs that are Filipino-centric impacts everyone in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. It creates direct and indirect employment for suppliers and communities. If there is any modern-day example of heroes, it is Filipino mothers who are smart to realize that it doesn’t takes a huge capital to start a business. When they changed their mindset that it could be done, they did it. After all, when you’re fighting for your family’s future, you become brave like the hero you can be.

Madiskarte Moms PH First-Ever Gawad Madiskarte

Tuesday, February 08, 2022

Unsung heroes. In the past two years of the pandemic, that’s what our moms have proven to be. Despite bearing the brunt of COVID-19’s impact in the labor sector (many of whom lost their jobs or suffered pay cuts), these women made sure their family needs are taken care of by finding alternative ways of providing for their households.

For many, this meant going out of their comfort zones and starting their own online businesses. Based on data from Investing in Women, one in four micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Philippines is owned by a woman. And this number has only risen during the pandemic with more than 88,000 new e-commerce businesses registered just in 2020.
