AasensoAko! PLDT Home Biz Masterclass Series

Sunday, July 24, 2022

Hundreds of entrepreneurs, particularly those who own and manage micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) benefitted from a series of masterclasses organized by PLDT Home Biz. Dubbed Aasenso Ako! Master Series, PLDT Home Biz conducted workshops and forums led by successful Filipino entrepreneurs including the founder of Potato Corner and Tokyo Tempura, Jorge Wieneke, advertising veteran and GoNegosyo mentor Jenny Wieneke, and PLDT Home Biz ambassadors Roxanne Montealegre, Dianne Medina, and Nadia Montenegro. In partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), they taught aspiring and budding entrepreneurs from Pangasinan, Cavite, Boracay, Laguna, and Bulacan how to start and grow their businesses, plan for business continuity, and resilience.

“As a brand that champions digital inclusivity among Filipinos, we also recognize our role in enabling MSMEs’ growth and recovery by ensuring that our services power them to success,” said Patrick Tang, First Vice President and Head of PLDT Home Customer Management. “This year, we celebrate every MSME as we advance our support for their growth and success towards nation-building.”

Madiskarte Moms PH First-Ever Gawad Madiskarte

Unsung heroes. In the past two years of the pandemic, that’s what our moms have proven to be. Despite bearing the brunt of COVID-19’s impact in the labor sector (many of whom lost their jobs or suffered pay cuts), these women made sure their family needs are taken care of by finding alternative ways of providing for their households.

For many, this meant going out of their comfort zones and starting their own online businesses. Based on data from Investing in Women, one in four micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Philippines is owned by a woman. And this number has only risen during the pandemic with more than 88,000 new e-commerce businesses registered just in 2020.
