     Finally, I'll be sharing my thoughts on Megafiber Psyllium fiber supplement. If you're a long time reader of this blog, prolly you know that I had bouts of constipation after giving birth. Yes, constipation is a part of pregnancy, it is common because of the increase progesterone in the body and it relaxes the muscle including the digestive track. The battle with constipation continues after giving birth. I've tried different kinds of laxative and medicine to help ease constipation but only a few have worked.

     I also veered away from those medicines because laxatives should not be taken for a long period of time because of the side-effects so I have to look for a natural supplement in order to help me pass out the stool in my body naturally. No bloating, painful tummy or cramps and flatulence. I've tried 2 brands of psyllium fiber before and I'm quiet satisfied with the results BUT I became most satisfied with MEGAFIBER. Wanna know why?      Psyllium fiber, a good source of functional fiber 3 that contains a high level of soluble fiber, and is the only ingredient in MEGAFIBER, a food supplement.

     Psyllium is a soluble fiber that is derived from the seeds of the plant Genus Plantago, with the husk being the outer coat of the seeds. It is also referred to as Isabgol or Isapagula husk. The species P. psyllium and P. ovale are commercially grown in India, Pakistan, and in countries in Europe and the former Soviet Union. Psyllium products are grown for their mucilage content. Mucilage describes the clear, colorless gelling agents derived from plants which are able to increase in volume upon absorbing water.

     I've been taking MEGAFIBER everyday. Once or twice a day 30 minutes before breakfast and/or 30 minutes before dinner. I drink lots of water too! To sum it up, it's been 2 years since I've discovered this brand. 

     A side note: I'm already drinking psyllium fiber after giving birth, that's year 2009 to be exact. No Megafber yet but another brand of fiber. I had a salpingectomy operation last 2012. When I was in the operation room, I heard the doctors saying that my intestines are clean. It's a pre-operation order not to eat and drink 10-12 hours before the operation. Drinking fiber may have helped me with the 'clean intestines'? Feel free to comment if you're a medical expert. Thank you!

instructions for use: Add contents or one heaping tablespoon in a half glass of water or juice, stir quickly and drink immediately. Drink an extra glass of water soon after.
If fiber gels, just spoon it or add more water. 

It is recommended to drink 6-8 glasses of water a day. Regular daily intake of MEGAFIBER is recommended ideally during breakfast. See your medical practitioner
if problem persist. 

You can also add MEGAFIBER to your rice or cereals to increase fiber content.

This is how I drink Megafiber, I drink a glass of this one or twice a day. Before breakfast and before dinner. After mixing it with water, I drink it immediately so that it will be easier to swallow as it becomes gel-like after a minute.
What I like:
  • The price- the most affordable psyllium fiber food supplement  because it contains more content than competition brands in the market today. I've tried 2 brands of psyllium fiber before and those have only 5 grams per sachet. 
  • The packaging- contains all the information you need to know about the product.
  • Megafiber is cholesterol-free, yeast and gluten-free.
  • Megafiber has fourteen times more fiber than oatmeal and other cereals.
  • It really made my bowel movement easy and regular.
  • No bloating or other stomach irritations.
  • After years of drinking Megafiber, (yes I've been drinking this food supplement for 2 years now) I've maintain my pre-pregnancy weight.
  • After drinking a glass of Megafiber, my stomach feels full so there's a tendency I eat little and crave less sweets.
  • Easy to use.
  • No unpleasant smell.
  • Comes in convenient sizes. There's a sachet, a box of 30 sachet's, in a bottle and plastic pouch.
  • There's a batch, manufacturing and expiry date printed on the package.
What I don't like:
  • Availability- it's always OSS (out of stock) :(
  • First time drinkers would have a hard time swallowing the product if you'll just mix it with plain water. 
Will I repurchase: YES! It's already a mainstay in my diet because I drink it everyday.

     I give this a 5/5 rating. A perfect score because of the price and the content it has plus the benefits like maintaining my weight, making me crave less for sweets and for making bowel movement easy. If you're a first time drinker of psyllium husk, it is recommended to take it during breakfast. Add this on your cereals or mix it with your favorite drinks.

     If you prefer on mixing it with water, I suggest you drink it immediately so that it will not be hard to swallow because it forms into a gel-like mixture in less than 1 minute. Always drink 6-8 glasses of water everyday once you're taking Megafiber.

      I took clium fiber when I was pregnant pero hindi ko tinuloy kasi nakakalimutan ko uminom. Kindly ask na lang your OB para sure and safe.

  3. I just started drinking Mega Fiber. I don't like the smell tho, parang karton. But I love it's effects, especially I'm always constipated.

      Yung ideally during breakfast should be before breakfast pa din ang intake and it is for those who want to add fiber in their diet everyday. If you want to lose or maintain your weight, 30 minutes before meals. Ako kasi twice a day, before lunch and before dinner.

  6. Gusto ko po ito itry. Hindi po ba ako magpapabalik balik sa banyo kapag uminom ako nito? May work po kasi ako kaya medyo inconvenient kung madalas akong magccr.

      No, wala naman eto effect like ng senna na laxative in which you need to go to the bathroom frequently. What it does is it helps to aid constipation making it easy for you to move bowel. The fiber will make it soft.

      If you want to lose weight, advisable dose is 30 minutes before meals. Pwedeng twice a day. Pero if not naman, once a day lang. 30 minutes before breakfast.

  8. Hi tanong ko lang po ok lng po ba gumamit nito kahit na lagi akong dehydrated at di nakakaabsorb ng tubig masyado? Mas lalala po ba constipation ko dito?

      You need to drink lots of water while taking this para mas maabsorb ng gut and ma push yung fiber from stomach hanggang sa large intestine.
