Product Review: Clairol Herbal Essences Color Me Happy Shampoo

Wednesday, September 05, 2012

Yay for the second post of the day! I actually planned to make it three or more??? Wish me luck guys :D I hope the coffee kicks in. I already had two cups and I don't want another because I'm early later for some errands. So now another long overdue product review (whoa, that's a rhyme), do you still remember my post about my first conditioner for color-treated hair?If not, you can read my review here. I really love the effect of Clairol Herbal Essences Color Me Happy on my locks! I'm already on my 4th bottle of that conditioner and one bottle usually lasts me a month with everyday use. Do you  agree that in order to achieve maximum results of a product you should use the whole product line? I'm a believer of this before but now I have doubts after using this shampoo. Thank goodness, I'm not using this on a daily basis or I'll end up with a barbie doll hair that not-so-smooth-and-silky-to-touch after giving her a bath. Or it's just my doll? Hahaha!

Okay on to my review, I bought this shampoo months months ago and I'm just halfway through the bottle. At first I'm so excited because it's a tandem of both shampoo and conditioner so I have high hopes that this will make my color-treated hair more healthy and shiny. Well the first few weeks went well but months later I noticed something. It's not good nor bad, so-so methinks.

I tried working it with the conditioner. Yes it worked but I ended up using another shampoo. I set this aside and use another shampoo plus the Color Me Happy conditioner. I'm still thinking if I'll give this another try, maybe if I ran out of shampoo.

ingredients: Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Citric Acid, Passiflora Incarnata Flower Extract, Zea Mays (Corn) Silk Extract, Rosa Centifolia (Rose) Flower Extract, Fragrance, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Xylenesulfonate, Cocamide MEA, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Benzoate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Linoleamidopropyl PG Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Red 33, Red 4, Yellow 10

What I like:
  • It's affordable.
  • A little amount of product goes a long way.
  • Colorful and chic bottle.
  • Has manufacturing and batch date.
  • It has a great smell.
  • Cleanse my hair thoroughly.
  • Lathers well.
What I don't like:
  • Dried my hair a bit.
  • My hair feels coarse after shampooing :(
Will I repurchase? No because I don't shampoo my hair everyday so this product will last me a long way. I find this product ineffective in terms of adding shine and health to color-treated hair.

Recommendation:
I give this a 3.75/5 rating. I guess I have to find another shampoo for my color-treated hair. I thought using this shampoo together with the Color Me Happy conditioner that I really love will make the best of both worlds. But it's okay at least I've got to try it and see for myself.

Have you tried the new Herbal Essences line? Which one is your favorite? Stay safe!

Product Review: Dr. Skin+ Toner

Tuesday, September 04, 2012

Hello dearies! How's your week going? My apologies for this uber later and delayed post. I'm still adjusting on my schedule for my father's dialysis and mommy duties. It's not that easy as I think it would be. There were times that I wanted to read blog posts and update this blog before going to bed but waking up the next day with my laptop on stand by mode. So I guess emotional and physical stress is taking its toll on me. I've been experiencing symptoms of flu lately and thank God that I'm still okay.

So on to my review, I'm happy with the result of new skin care products that I used on my face and another one on my body. It's been a month and a half since I started using this toner that I'm loving now! I consider this toner as semi-organic because two of the main ingredients were from natural plants like the Camellia Sinensis and Witch Hazel. When I first saw this on my loot bag after the Nicesnssa Online Store Launch I'm giddy to try it the next day after the event but I have doubts since my skin is very sensitive specially when trying new ones. Prolly you know that my favorite and most trusted toner and still using up to now is All Organics Lemongrass Toner. So when I tried Dr. Skin Toner, I can say that this can be a good dupe to my favorite toner or should I say an alternative one week before my monthly period where hormones starting to get wild. Hehehe! Cystic acne and oily skin are the signs that my monthly period will begin in a weeks time so to make an early prevention I decided to use this toner and see if there will be a slight difference. To my surprise there's a big difference!

Click read more and see if this toner will be a staple in my cabinet and if I'm going to order another bottle online :D

instructions for use: Apply all over face and neck w/ a cotton ball using upward and outward strokes.

ingredients: Aqua, Ethyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, Triclosan, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Hamameus Virginia (Witch Hazel) Distillate, Menthol

What I like:
  • The price- very affordable.
  •  I love the cool feeling it gives on my face, very relaxing!
  • There's no weird or funky smell.
  • The bottle dispenses right amount of product.
  • There's a manufacturing and batch number stamped at the bottom of the bottle.
  • No irritations or breakouts or whatsoever.
  • It lessened my hormonal breakouts and keeps the oil at bay.
  • Calms redness on my face.
  • Can be purchased online.
What I don't like:
  • Their branch at Sm Fairview has been pulled out so I have no choice but to visit Sm Megamall branch which is very far from our house. Sometimes online shopping can be very hassle to me :(
Will I repurchase? Yes! I'm planning to restock on this toner.

Recommendation:
I give this a 4.75/5 rating. Even though it's not organic, my skin didn't experience breakouts and irritation unlike other commercial toners that I've tried. I highly recommend this toner specially to those who wanted to keep their oilies at bay and lessen their cystic acne. A word of caution, use the product at your own risk. We have different skin types and needs so what worked for me may not work for you.

Do you use more than one toners? Thanks for sharing! Take care loves :D

Skin Care Hauls+ My First Zalora Purchase

Thursday, August 30, 2012

How's everyone? I miss you guys! :D Finally I'm back to regular programming after being MIA. I'm already getting used to my father's situation and I'm very thankful to those who prayed for me and my dad. Thank you Lord for giving us patience and strength to cope with the obstacles that we're facing now.

This is another overdue post but I know it's worth sharing since I'm adding a new skin care product to my regimen. If you follow me on twitter, I mentioned in my tweets weeks ago that I'm suffering from acne breakouts. Maybe it's because of stress or some hormonal changes in my body. I didn't changed my skin care routine for more than months now so I really don't know the culprit behind those red and nasty zits. I'm tired of just letting it go- my pimple per se. I usually ignore a pimple or two before but they left my face with dark spots/marks. So I decided to look for a budget friendly pimple spot treatment to lessen irritation and post acne marks. After reading reviews and comparing one product from another, I decided to gave these zit zappers a try plus I restocked on Maybelline Make Up Remover (Eye and Lip) and Purederm Make Up Cleansing Tissues.
Celeteque Acne Solutions Acne Spot Corrector Gel
Maybelline Make Up Remover Eye and Lip
Quick FX Pimple Eraser
Purederm Makeup Cleansing Tissues
Maybe you're already familiar with Celeteque's Acne Solution line and I guess most of you have tried this pimple treatment. I will say my thoughts about this zit zapper soon. If you're wondering what Quick FX Pimple Eraser is, then wait for my review :D This pimple eraser promises to lighten pimple marks and prevent new pimples from popping up. Been using this for a week now and haven't seen any drastic changes on the intensity of the pigmentation. I will update you guys once I've seen some lightening on my dark spots.

Anyhoo, Yay to my first Zalora purchase!!! My eyes are glued on this loafers months ago but quite hesitant to buy this online because I'm afraid that it won't give me a nice fit. I'm not sure if I'm a size 8 or 9 which always happens when I'm buying a new pair of shoes on the store itself.

Sooo happy with my first purchase! Will definitely buy my next pair at Zalora again :D Another outfit post soon?! Thanks for visiting my blog dearies! Don't forget to join my 1st Year Anniversary Giveaway here: http://kittykittiekath.blogspot.com/2012/08/dear-kitty-kittie-kaths-1st-year.html

Please Say A Little Prayer For Me

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Hi guys! I'm sorry for being MIA again. I know that I promised to update this blog everyday and make two or three posts but again something unexpected happened to my family. I hope you can understand because a lot of things came to us. My father was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease so he's undergoing dialysis now. It's really depressing and stressful for my family but we need to accept it. Since I'm the eldest, I almost do everything from his check-ups, dialysis sessions and other important things needed for his medication. It's lifetime-

I hope you can include my father's health in your prayers. It's not easy for all of us. We're still emotional about this stage but I know we'll be able to handle it. I guess we just need to keep our faith and everything will be alright.

So I'll just leave you here, I will still update this blog soon. My giveaways will be up next week so I hope you can join. Ask your friends to join too :D
