Product Review: Etude House Sugar Tint Balm

Monday, May 25, 2015

I will never get tired of trying a new lip product as long as the pigmentation is good and there's a lot of colors to choose from the brand! I'm happy to share with you my thoughts on Etude House Sugar Tint Lip Balm. I'm sure you've seen great reviews from beauty bloggers here and abroad and what they have to say about this product. I have a love-hate relationship with these lip balms but I think that it's only me who experienced it. By the way, thank you Etude House for sending these balms.

These lip balms are promising but I guess it's only me who can't tolerate a few types of scents and perfumes. To know more about the product scroll down and see photos, swatches, and what are the things I like about these babies :)

What I like:

  • The packaging is cute. It comes with a screw off lid/cap that can prevent the lid/cap from unscrewing off accidentally while these lip balms are inside your makeup kit or bag.
  • There are 8 pretty shades to choose from.
  • The color comes off true. What you see if what you get.
  • It is very pigmented. Looks like I'm wearing lipstick whenever I apply cranberry pie on my lips.
  • It glides smoothly on my lips without tugging and pulling therefore it's easy peasy to apply.
  • It has the right amount of gloss/shine on my lips.
  • Etude House Sugar Tint Balm lasted 5 hours on my lips.
  • Does not fade after eating or sipping my drink.
  • Contains beauty oils like Jojoba Oil, Organic Argan Oil, and Vitamin E.
  • Easily accessible.

What I don't like:

  • The price can be a bit steep for budget conscious individuals.
  • The scent- I find the fruity scent a bit off for my sensitive nose. I think it's just me because my sister likes the scent of these lip balms.
  • Can emphasize flaky and chapped lips because the texture is creamy.

Will I repurchase? Maybe yes and no. Yes because I want to try the remaining six shades. No because I think a bullet will last long. I'm the type who will empty the contents of a product first before trying or buying a new one if it becomes a fave or HG (holy grail).

Recommendation:
I give this product a 4/5 rating. I like that the packaging is cute and unique. It's very pigmented but buildable so it's like I'm already wearing a lipstick. If you have dry, flaky, and chapped lips, I advise you to exfoliate first as these lip balms may emphasize them. Other than that, you'll be surprised that you'll get the true color of these lip balms once applied. Some lipstick may look different on the tube and once applied. I have pigmented lips and I don't have a hard time making Grapefruit Tea show off it's true color in just two swipes.

Have you tried these pretty lip balms from Etude House? What's your favorite shade?

Product Review: Wet N Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain Moisturizing Lip Colour in A Stiff Pink

Friday, April 10, 2015

Early last year, chubby crayon-like lipstick/lip balm/ lip stain hit beauty bloggers by storm. I've seen my favorite beauty gurus reviewing their fave chubby lippies in crayon form from brand one after the other! From high-end to cost effective ones, these babies offer pretty shades and functions more than one. I can't contain my excitement when I saw this from Luxola's website and said to myself that finally I'll be able to get hold of my own crayon because the price of a drugstore brand like Wet N Wild is pretty cheap and affordable!

Here's a review of Wet N Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain Moisturizing Lip Colour in A Stiff Pink. This product was sent to me by Luxola last February so my apologies if this is a very late review. I describe this lip balm/lipstick/lip gloss/lip stain as a cool toned pink. It's a bright pink that leaves a beautiful stain on my lips. If my memory serves me right, this shade can be a close dupe of one of my lipsticks, MAC Girl About Town (GAT) but this one is a tad ligther. I'll check and update this post just to be sure. To see photos and swatches, click CONTINUE READING now!

Product Review: Wet N Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain Moisturizing Lip Colour in A Stiff Pink

According to Wet N Wild's website:

Now you can amp up your lips with one stick for a kissable pout in no time. To keep you pucker-perfect, these all NEW lip balm stains glide on smoothly while conditioning the lips. Enriched with Acai Palm Oil, this amazing formula forms a protective shield on the lips to prevent feathering. Complete with six great shades and continuous moisture, the formula leaves the lips with a unique minty, cooling sensation. No matter how long the kiss, this balm will last and last.

Photo above shows the content of one crayon. Swatch on my forearm twice. It is very pigmented. Looks light inside crayon packaging but turns into a bright blue toned pink after application. The photo on the right shows the stain. It's a pain to remove, I've already placed my arm under running water and I've tried smudging it to remove but the stain is still there.

What I like:
  • The price is el cheapo compared to other chubby sticks in the market today.
  • The packaging is cute. It is a twist up crayon pencil that has a clear cap. The packaging's color is the same as the shade of the balm stain.
  • No need to sharpen.
  • There are 6 gorgeous shades to choose from.
  • It's a 4-in-1 product- a lip gloss, lip stain, lipstick and lip balm!
  • There's a unique minty, cool sensation upon application.
  • It is very pigmented. Not for the faint of heart if  you apply it with a heavy hand.
  • It is easy to apply as it glides smoothly on my lips without tugging and pulling my lips.
  • Lasted 6 hours on my lips.
  • Does not fade after eating or sipping my drink.
  • Does not fade unevenly as it leaves a beautiful stain on my lips.
  • There's a batch and manufacturing date printed on it.
What I don't like:
  • The packaging is flimsy.
  • There's a semi- chemical scent.
  • It dries out my lips even if I apply my fave lip balm underneath.
  • It's a pain to remove even if I use my fave makeup remover.
Will I repurchase? Maybe yes and no. Yes because I want to try the remaining five shades. No because I think a bullet will last long. I'm the type who will empty the contents of a product first before trying or buying a new one if it becomes a fave or HG (holy grail).

Recommendation:
I give this product a 4.25/5 rating. I like that it's pigmented and easy to use plus it's affordable but it dries out my lips and I find it hard to remove even if I use my favorite makeup remover. So if your lips are prone to drying, use a heavy duty lip balm underneath this balm stain. The minty and cooling sensation is unique and fun! I recommend this balm stain to budget conscious individuals and to students too who wants to try a good drugstore brand.

5 Makeup Hacks You Never Thought About

Monday, March 23, 2015

Craving to carry an enigmatic look? Well, to start with, let’s have a brief look at how our makeup industry transformed with those innocent and innovative hacks. It’s been thousands of years that Egyptians made use of aromatic oils to soften their skin soft and cover body odours. Imagine what you call them today! They are popular as moisturizers and deodorants.

Around 600 decades back, Egyptians daubed kohl around their eyes and today they have come to be known as eye liners.

Going in the same line, the people of China around 1000 years back coloured their nails with something that is a melange of egg, gum, gum Arabic, gelatine and beeswax. Guess what we call them today? They are the stunning, glossy and colourful nail polish.

Further down the timeline, Japanese used rice powder to waxen their faces. Today, you call that loose powder.

Aren’t they cool and smart? Wait a moment before you arrive to a conclusion. With loud popularity of the Internet, this present generation has discovered some crazy, off-beat and alluring make-up hacks that you can attempt at home. Here, steal a look at the 5 most surprising make up hacks.

Product Review: Tony Moly Kiss Lover Lip Master in Sexy Red

Friday, January 02, 2015

Hello 2015! First review of the year goes to Tony Moly Kiss Lover Lip Master because this lip cream/lipstick is my go to lippie for the past few weeks now. I've received this lip product from Tony Moly last October and upon application on my lips, I'm so happy that the color can pass off as my every day 'red' lipstick. I presume you already know that I will choose a pink, hot pink or purple lipstick over red because I look snob with red. I can describe Tony Moly Kiss Lover Lip Master in Sexy Red as a cherry tomato red. A red shade with a hint of orange that is not too bright nor too dark.

Fret not if you see in my photos below that the product looks bloody red on the doe foot applicator because once applied, it leaves a healthy red shade that has a decent shine on my lips. To see photos and swatches of Tony Moly Kiss Lover Lip Master in Sexy Red that I dubbed as liquid lip color, lip tint, lip cream and lipstick rolled into one, click CONTINUE READING dearies!

Product Review: MAC Up The Amp Lipstick

Monday, December 29, 2014

And the MAC lipstick addiction goes on! I think I'll be in love with MAC lipsticks forever. I can say 'Once you go MAC, you will never go back!' I had a chance to get hold of this shade from MAC when Rae posted on her Instagram account that she'll be letting go of some of her lipsticks. Knowing her, I didn't doubt about the lipstick's condition and never even bothered if the lipstick is pre-loved. She sanitized the lipstick properly and have used the product only a couple of times.

This shade from MAC lipsticks is one of my lemmings. It's on my MAC lipstick shades wishlist. Out of 10 shades, I already have 3. So I guess the wishes are coming true one lipstick at a time :) According to MAC's website this shade is a Colour plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street! What made M·A·C famous. Click CONTINUE READING to see the swatches and if it suits my skin tone.

Product Review: Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain

Wednesday, October 15, 2014

Hello dearies! The long wait is finally over, here are the swatches and my thoughts on Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain lipstick/lipstain. I received a couple of emails regarding the swatches of this lipstain that was sent to me by Revlon Philippines. When these landed on our doorsteps, I immediately tested the lightest color which is LA Exclusive. It's a bubblegum pink shade that compliments my skin tone.

To give you a brief information about the product, these lip stains are ultra-light and creamy, gives a nice glossy finish and leaves a pretty stain on the lips. I actually like these lip stains and been wearing the three shades alternately almost everyday. To know more about the product and the swatches, click CONTINUE READING

Product Review: Natura Organics Organic Luscious Lipstick

Tuesday, March 25, 2014

Hello dearies! I'm back with a series of product reviews from Natura Organics. Ms. Jessica of Natura Organics Essentiel sent me these pretty lipsticks last January as a birthday gift. I was surprised when I received all the four shades of their Organic Luscious Lipstick. The first shade on the photo below became an instant fave! I love the shade because I can wear it everyday for that no makeup makeup look. When my mom and sisters saw this on my stash, they're very giddy to make their own swatch too. After applying the lipstick, my mom noticed that she looked younger. The shade she used compliments her skin tone- Tuscany Rose. My younger sister wanted to try a red-orange color that will suit her complexion. She chose Mauve Rose and after applying it on her lips, she was amazed that even without lip balm prior to the application, it didn't dried out her lips. Wanna know my thoughts about these pretty lipsticks? Click CONTINUE READING to find out!

Product Review: Colour Collection Vitamin E Matte Lipstick in Electra

Thursday, October 03, 2013

Here's a review of my very first red lipstick. Red, huh?! Not all girls can pull off red shades of lipstick decently. Some may find the shade sophisticated and Elegant while others may find the shade bitchy, sluty or matronish. Picking the right shade of red to suit ones skin tone is very tricky. If you can sport red lippie anywhere and anytime then lucky you! You'll see the Anne Curtis Smith in you who can wear red lipstick in all seasons! I'm also a late bloomer when it comes to lipsticks. I started using them on a regular basis some two years ago. I was scared before to apply bold colored lippie since I have a pigmented lips. I know that opaque and bold ones will look more intense when worn knowing that I have a pigmented lips.

Before I decided to try a red shade lipstick, I search for dupes of the infamous MAC Russian Red and Ruby Woo. I didn't found a dupe that I based from the photos of Temptalia. By the way, she is a famous international beauty blogger. So my search for the perfect red lipstick was set aside when my cousin from the US bought me MAC Girl About Town- a blue based pink lipstick and instantly fell in love with the color.

Even though most of my lipsticks are pinks, I still want to try red just to see if I can wear it without looking like joker or a clown as what le hubby always jokes about. So when my sister-in-law gave me the brochure of Tupperware Brands, the distributor of Colour Collection makeup, and told me that she wanted to give me a thank you gift I didn't think twice and chose this shade. Wanna see if the lipsticks suits me? I wanna faint the first time I applied the lipstick but after three tries, I think I'm getting used to it. So here it is, Colour Collection lipstick in Electra.
Colour Collection Vitamin E Matte Lipstick in Electra
A luxurious matte lipstick that wraps lips with conditioning color, infused with Vitamin E and protective sunscreen to soften lips, smoothen lines and prevent chapping.

Product Review: Colour Collection Vitamin E Matte Lipstick in Flame

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

Here's my review of another local brand of lipstick that my sister-in-law gave me last month. The two shades that she gave me were Flame- a coral shade and Elektra- a retro red shade. I'm so giddy to try Colour Collection lipstick because beauty bloggers have been giving good reviews about the product. They got their full size sample at Sample Room. I was very intrigued about the lipstick but unfortunately it's OOS when I was about to get my sample :( Thank goodness my SIL gave me two tubes of Colour Collection lipstick in shades that Sample Room didn't offered on their website.

When my SIL handed me the brochure, I was amazed to see different shades of this matte lipstick from corals, reds, pinks, browns and purples. And to my surprised, Tupperware Brands- the distributor of Colour Collection lipstick offers them in a BOGO (Buy One Get One) promo! Isn't that amazing? For just less than Five Hundred Pesos, you'll be able to get two pigmented lipstick. But the offer is for a limited time only so dearies if you chance upon a Tupperware lady near you better grab the brochure and order your own Colour Collection lipstick. So let's go now to my review, more pictures after the jump! Click CONTINUE READING please :)))

Product Review: MAC Pink Nouveau Lipstick

Sunday, August 11, 2013

Happy Sunday dearies! I'm so happy that finally, I can now share how MAC Pink Nouveau lipstick looks like on me. But before you scroll down to see the pictures, let me tell you a short story why I bought this shade even if it's pre-loved.

I've known this infamous shade from MAC long before I've had my Girl About Town. Actually, this was the first shade of MAC lipstick that I'm lusting. For years, I'm having a doubt if the shade will fit my skin tone because most of the comments from different forums that I visited had a love-hate relationship with Pink Nouveau or PN as what they called this baby. There were girls who love the shade so much that they even buy backups. Those ladies who had this lipstick on their stash hate it because sometimes they say that the shade sucked out the color on their face and made them looked like a zombie. So because of these observations, I erased PN on my mind but not on my wishlist. Since I'm very eager to have this shade and I don't want to spend a fortune on it, I lurked on the Seller's corner of GT Forums and waited for a pre-loved PN. But unfortunately, all the pre-loved PN was selling like hot cakes that time and I always check the sellers' profile before I consider to buy them or not, even though I want to try this lipstick so bad, sanitation is also my number one priority in buying pre-loved cosmetics.

Product Review: L.A. Colors Lipstick in Matte Amethyst

Saturday, May 18, 2013

Hi dearies! Just got home from a 3-day vacation from the beautiful province of Lucban Quezon :) We joined the Pahiyas Festival and this is my nth time to celebrate one of the grandest festival of the year. Lucban Quezon is my mother's hometown that's why celebrating Pahiyas is already marked in our family tradition. Anyhoo, my apologies for posting this review just now. I forgot to schedule this review post before I left Manila. If you still remember my haul post here, I bought this lipstick because I saw the swatch of Gie - Third World Fashion blog. The color looks good on her lips- purple lips for everyday look why not?! Another thing I like was the price! This lipstick is very cheap :) The cheapskate in me rejoices the moment I saw the price. But I have one problem with bright colored lipstick, the true color won't show up on my lips :( Since this shade is on the purple side, I'm expecting that my lips would turn purplish somehow but it turned out a little pinkish. And because Gie already made a comprehensive review, I'll just chronicler my experience with the product here. Click Read More to see if it's a Yay or a Nyay :)

What I like:
  • The Price- One of the cheapest lipstick that I currently own.
  • The pigmentation is okay. Can be sheer and buildable until you get the color you like.
  • Applies easily on my lips, glides on smoothly.
  • Doesn't dry my lips.
  • Lasts 4 hours on my lips.
  • Easily accessible.
  • There's a batch and manufacturing date printed on it.
What I don't like:
  • The packaging- it's flimsy. But can't complain consider the price and the quality, you really get what you pay for.
  • Fades easily after eating oily or spicy food so better check after eating or else you'll ended up with a white line of grease on your lips.
  • The scent is a bit off, I can smell the lead whenever I apply this on my lips.
  • Contains mineral oil, some individuals are allergic to it.
Will I repurchase? Yes! A cheapskate like me can try all the shades that I want because of the price.

Recommendation:
I give this a 4/5 rating! I just noticed one thing with the pinks, purples and fuchsia lipstick that I've tried, they always turn out the same. I mean, sometimes I can't see a big difference on the shade. I think it's because I have a pigmented lips and that doesn't give justice to the real color of the lipstick. Always prep your lips prior to lipstick application with a good lip balm to avoid dryness.

Have you tried L.A. Colors Lipstick? I want to try other shades, can you recommend a good one? Thank you pretties!

Good Times!~

Product Review: Ever Bilena Matte Lipstick in Off Beat Pink

Friday, April 05, 2013

Hello! How's your week so far? The heat is insane and I'm soo lazy these past few days. Anyhoo, this review is sitting on my blog bin for 2 weeks now and I think my recent photo can do justice on the real color of this lipstick from Ever Bilena. The moment I got hold of this, I said to myself that there's a lot of reason to "Love your own" and support the local makeup industry. The shade that I got is also dubbed as a very close dupe to MAC Pink Noveau by some beauty bloggers that have already swatch this shade . I'm not sure if this shade is really an exact dupe or really comparable to Mac Pink Noveau because I don't own one.

And because I'm happy with my first lipstick from Ever Bilena, I'll be hoarding 2 or 3 colors on my next purchase :)

What I like:
  • The Price- Very affordable.
  • There's a color on the top of the packaging. This kind of "color coding" made it a lot easier for me to identify the color of the lipstick inside the tube.
  • Good color payoff but not totally pigmented.
  • Doesn't dry my lips.
  • Lasts 3 hours on my lips.
  • Easily accessible.
  • There's a wide range of colors for this lipstick line.
  • There's a batch and manufacturing date printed on it.
What I don't like:
  • The packaging- it's flimsy. But can't complain consider the price and the quality, you really get what you pay for.
  • There's a bit of plastic taste.
  • Doesn't glide smoothly on my lips so I have to rub the tip of the lipstick first on the back of my hand to warm it up for easier application.
Will I repurchase? Yes! I want to try other colors like Love that Red and Mauvey.

Recommendation:
I give this a 4.5/5 rating. A good buy from a local brand that really makes Filipina more beautiful without spending too much. There's a lot of reason why Ever Bilena products has been receiving positive reviews aside price methinks the quality and the range of their products caters to all the ladies regardless of age. I saw my youngest sister using their HD makeup line while my mom loves their powder foundation and I'm happy that they didn't got allergic reactions and whatsoever.

What's your favorite Ever Bilena product? Thanks for sharing! Happy Friday everyone ^_^

Good Times!~

Product Review: BYS Lipstick in Champagne Rain

Thursday, February 28, 2013

Hi dearies! How's your week so far? Been busy last week and reviews are piling up again :( So now I'm back and I hope I can share all the good finds that I got this February. I've been testing this new lipstick for 2 weeks now and finally found a good lippie for everyday/ no makeup look. I had a nude lipstick before from N.Y.X. but the color just made me look pale and my sisters said that I'm a walking dead whenever I wear that shade. From that moment, I said to myself that I will never look good in nude. But when I saw Anagon and Shen's tweet about BYS lipsticks, there's something mysterious that calls my name to try it and find out what this brand is all about. I got intrigued with the brand and got really curious when I saw the swatches on their blogs.

Since I'm looking for the right kind of nude that's perfect for everyday look and for this summer season, I grabbed the opportunity to try their lipsticks when I passed by their counter. I asked the SA for a nude shade lippie and she gave me this...Is it a Yay or a nyay? Read more to see if this is the perfect kind of nude that I'm looking for.

Product Review: BYS Lipstick in Champagne Rain
What I like:
  • The Price- Affordable.
  • I love the shade, it's a pink/nude lippie that doesn't give a concealer look on my lips.
  • The scent- a bit of sweet citrusy smell but not overpowering.
  • It's my MLBB.
  • Takes a little effort to apply.
  • Settles on fine lines and accentuates dry flaky skin (but with the use of a good lip balm, the application is a lot smoother)
  • Contains mineral oil, some individuals are allergic to it.
Will I repurchase? Yes!

Recommendation:
I give this a 4/5 rating! I consider this nude lippie as MLBB (My lips but better). This shade is great for everyday use. I got compliments whenever I wear this lippie and I'm happy that the shade doesn't make me look dead. I haven't tried applying the product with the use of a lip brush. I guess that technique will make the application a lot easier. Definitely, this product is worth a try!

Have you tried this new brand of lipstick from Australia? If yes, what's your recent BYS loot?

Good Times!~
