Hair Color Transformation Balayage Ombre Ash Blonde

Thursday, August 27, 2020

Hello dearies! Sharing a short hair color transformation blog and vlog from last year's visit to one of David's Salon branches- David's for Rever at SM Novaliches. I've been coloring my hair for more than 10 years now and the shades I always choose falls on brown, blonde, and gray color charts.

I've also tried different hair color techniques in the past like highlights, balayage, and ombre with minimal bleaching. I have a thin, limp, and long chemically abused hair that's why whenever I change my hair color, I achieve the shade or the closest shade easily. This brassy to classy hair color was achieved through Affinage 9.1 Very Light Ash Blonde but prior to using this brand, I've bleached half part of my hair months ago thus getting a real ash ombre. Sharing photos and the link to my vlog after the jump :)

The last time I had my hair colored from a reputable salon was last December 2016. It took almost a year before I decided to say 'yes' for another hair coloring sesh from a known hair salon because of availability and accessibility.

I've been itching to color my hair last month using DIY color but decided to postpone it because the shade that I want is not available at Watsons. I think the heavens heard my plea last week. I know it's time to refresh my hair color because the roots are showing up and the ends are breaking. Hooray for a day of pampering and 'me' time at Status Hair Salon Maginhawa branch. Aside from hair color, they also treated me to a hair treatment, manicure, and pedicure services. Highlights of my visit below :)

Jing Monis' Holidays with the Press 2016

Monday, December 12, 2016

Christmas parties and reunions are happening here, there, and almost everywhere. Are you ready to show off your holiday look? For girls, prepping for parties can be stressful because it's not only what to wear that we are thinking because we also want to look good from head to toe.

Speaking of head to toe, holidays is also the time where it's okay to have your hair colored and styled according to what you've been dreaming off. If you want to have a new hair color- mermaid hair, ombre, purple, red, etc, then give yourself a treat! But for this, you need to go to a reputable salon for that #hairgoals peg. I've been dreaming of ash brown hair for the longest time and by the first week of December, I've finally achieved that hair color with Hair Philosophie by Jing Monis Salon. A short story of my first Jing Monis' Holidays with the Press 2016 experience below :)

Feature: Divine pampering and ME TIME at CEDAR Salon

Saturday, October 03, 2015

When it comes to salon hair care and services, I only trust a few stylists to touch my crowning glory. Since I have a colored-treated hair, it's given that my locks are prone to dryness and frizz. We're already in the last quarter of the year and this means that we will be entering the busy months of October, November, and December. This are the crazy months we're we are rushing things- buying gifts, planning reunions and parties, and going on a vacation.

Having all these in our schedule, we must not forget ourselves and have a perfect 'me time' before holiday officially starts. I was invited to one of the newest beauty oasis in the metro three weeks ago where I had my most needed 'me time' with other beauty and fashion bloggers. Prior to this event, Martha of thebeautyjunkee blog gave a brief of CEDAR Salon and the pampering options that I can try on the day itself. I've chosen color, cut, and hair treatment that I really, really, really liked and enjoyed. Are you excited to know more about CEDAR Salon and see the new hair color that I'm sporting now? Scroll down please!

CEDAR Salon is the newest oasis in the city where one can reinvigorate and recharge the senses. Upon entering the salon, I felt relaxed because of the soothing spa ambiance. No funky-chemicalish salon scent, so those with sensitive nose can relax and breathe during your entire stay at the salon. But if you're having a hair color treatment, expect to smell a little bit of ammonia.

The place is roomy and has perfect lighting with big mirrors. I can say there's a zen in the room where all the services are made. I like the minimal design and the furniture in this salon. Relaxing, indeed!

During the event, I was introduced to my stylist Jake. He is very kind and approachable. Yay to him because he did a great job in coloring my hair. I had a heart-to-heart talk with him in terms on cut, color, and style. He discussed with me the trends in hair cut that suits my hair type. I have long, thin and limp hair that I've kept uncut for almost 2 years. He said that I needed to cut the ends of my hair and give it a u-shaped look. I'll summarize below the important things he said to me and why I've achieved the hair color that I wanted :)

Hair color details:
Brand used: Schwarzkopf
Shade: Combination of  8.11 and 7.56
Treatment: Bonacure Hair Therapy

Clockwise L-R: My old hair color and long limpy hair, after shampooing, Jake is checking my hair (status, condition, and if the color will look even, and prepping for haircut.
  • Before going to the salon, decide what hair color you like and let the stylist study it first.
  • Rule of the thumb- if you have bleached hair or you have light hair color from the very start, expect that you will achieve the true color that you want or almost the same and close shade.
  • If  you're really dying to have that hair color you have to undergo hair bleaching BUT always consider the condition of your hair.
  • The quality of hair dye that will be used in coloring your hair depends on the brand. It's not a must but as much as possible, stick to only one brand of hair color so that next time that you're going to have another coloring sesh, you will achieve the hair color you want without the fuss.
  • If you will not undergo hair bleaching, the only thing that will work in achieving the closest shade of your dream hair color is by mixing dyes. Ask  you stylist to give you a copy of the color chart. From the chart, let him explain which is which. What colors he/she is going to mix so that you will have an idea what the color will look like after application and waiting time.
  • Always choose color + treatment service on the day of your visit to the salon. Remember that after the coloring process, hair is in the delicate state where all the nutrients have been stripped of because of the hair dye BUT fret NOT- hair treatment is here to rescue!
  • Relax and enjoy while waiting for your new hair color. You can ask the stylist anything you want about the process and the after care treatment.
  • Use hair care products- shampoo, conditioner, serum for colored-treated hair. Since the hair color will eventually fade, make sure to use products that will make the fading beautiful.

So here's the color of my hair after the event. Take note that this color will fade on the 4th or 5th day to the hair color that I really want- close ash brown hair color without bleaching. After the event, I can see that it's really the ash brown that I've dreamed of before. Jake also explained to me that the color of my hair will fade in either of the two shades in the chart because fading also depends on the hair care products I'm using.

Look ma, the hair color that Jake recommended in the chart looks like this. This is the 8.11 shade

After almost a week, I took another photo to see how beautiful my hair color faded. I run out of shampoo for color-treated hair that's why I'm using organic one right now. I also use a conditioner for color-treated hair. The photo was taken around 5 p.m. in natural lighting. No filter or other effects used. I also love the hair treatment  used in my hair after the color sesh. It made my hair soft, smooth, and shiny!

After a week, this is my hair color in natural lighting around 5 p.m. The shade looks like the one that I've encircled on the left photo above.

Thank you so much CEDAR Salon in an afternoon of divine pampering. I always get compliments from my relatives and friends because of my hair color. To all my readers, I highly recommend CEDAR Salon. Since the holiday rush is coming, visit them today and book an appointment. Posting here the menu services for your reference.

Friday, October 10, 2014

You only live once, so step out and try a new hair color! Hello there dearies! Lemme share with you the highlights of my Azta Urban Salon Style Sessions happened last September 24 at their newest SM Jazz Makati branch. I'm so excited to muse about my first Ombre hair color to date and I'm so happy and satisfied with the outcome because aside from great customer service I experienced that day, my stylist Ms. Lyn explained everything to me, the pros and cons of the Ombre color peg that I've chosen. So before I start, here's a little background about Azta Urban Salon:

Azta Urban Salon began in 2004 as a small beauty and grooming nook in the Ortigas area. Catering to a broad young market, they gradually became known for their personalized customer service (which I really, really like!), as well as the hip, stylish, and up-to-date haircuts that they do.

With stylish yet reasonably priced cuts being their core competence, they strongly believe that everyone has the basic right to STYLE. Inspired by the latest trends in fashion from both here and abroad, the creative team comes up with a new set of cut collection every year. We Liberate Style!

Getting a Stylish Look at a Reasonable Price

Sunday, July 27, 2014

Style is relative. It comes down to personal preferences as much as it has to do with fashionable trends. Style is also relative to a person’s point of view on a lot of things in society. Like most things, style has its place. For many people, style is a priority and they want to exhibit and display their own style with class.

My Mucota Hair Treatment at Park Jun's Beauty Lab Glorietta Branch

Monday, March 10, 2014

Hello! Here's another super late post from one of the hair treatments that I've tried last December. My hair that time was digipermed so you'll see me with curls here :) I'm back to straight hair now because of another treatment. Today, I'll muse about my experience on Park Jun's Beauty Lab at their Glorietta 3 Makati branch.

FAB Holiday Makeover at The Jing Monis Salon

Thursday, January 10, 2013

My life in 2012 has been showered with so many prizes from the giveaways and contests that I joined. I'm always sharing my giveaway winnings because I also want my readers to join random giveaways and contests where I won. My relatives and friends always tell me how lucky I am. They sometimes ask me to join other contests like the lottery but this involves money and there's like a single probability that I will win. So moving on...

From all the contests and giveaways that I've joined, this was the grandest and the most fabulous of all. If you'll ask me why, this was my first time to have a makeover done in one of the most prestigious salon in the Philippines and it's also my first time to wear something that most celebrities wear in their crowning glory. Winning from Jing Monis Salon's like and share giveaway on Facebook was the bomb! Imagine yourself being pampered in a place where famous celebrities like Maxene Magalona and Judy Ann Santos, socialites and politicians entrust their hair and makeup services. I felt very special and princessy that day since this once in a lifetime experience truly made my day epic.

This post will be a lengthy one. I do hope you'll read it from the very start up to the last part because I'll be sharing important things that I learned from the makeover team. So are you guys ready? Let's start shall we?

Jing Monis Salon Makati, Greenbelt 1 branch is located at the 3rd floor above the cinemas. When I arrived there, I thought the salon's place was very small but when I stepped inside and welcomed by the receptionist, I was awed by the ambiance. The place was very quiet and I felt the homey environment with the warm welcome of the staffs.

And when I entered the other side of the room, there I saw all the staffs and crews that's very busy doing their clients hair and makeup. I was really surprised that the place was packed with their loyal customers having their holiday makeovers. Some were going to attend weddings while others were having their Christmas parties.

Goodbye dry and damage hair

Before the makeover, Ms. Joana Ballesteros PR and marketing manager explained to me the treatments and procedures for my makeover. She also introduced me to my makeover team: Mr. Fritz Almencion, Mr. Rigel Buna Tedor- creative stylists and Joyce Seludo- makeup artist. I learned so many things from them. I'm really overwhelmed and treated like their loyal customers unlike other salon staffs that were snooty, IMO. They are very friendly and approachable!!!

Say hello to my new haircut. My apologies for this haggard face, had no sleep when I went for my makeover :(

So here are the important points that I learned from Mr. Fritz. From his experience from other top salons in our country, I'm sure that his hair care advice is a must if we want to achieve the celebrity salon style hair :D Always make sure to have your haircut every 2 months. Trim the edges so to eliminate split ends thus having less frizzy hair. Hair can be damaged not only from the chemicals that we apply to them like shampoo, conditioners, gels, and DIY treatments.

Environmental pollution is also another factor. It is advisable to shampoo your hair 4 times a week so that natural hair oil will not be stripped off from your hair cuticles. It will also maintain the PH balance of your hair. Choose the right shampoo depending on your hair type. Like in my case, I need use shampoo and conditioner for color- treated hair since I have colored hair. Shampoo starting from the scalp to wash out chemical buildups and condition starting from the tips.

Other points we discussed were the common things for hair care like avoid tugging and using friction when towel dying your hair just let the natural air make it dry. Use umbrella and other protection for your hair from the damaging and drying effects of the sun and acid from the rain. Make sure to have your hair treatments every month to maintain the health of your tresses.

Toning down my hair color. From ash blonde, golden blonde to dark ash brown

Giving my hair all the boosts that it needed :) Thanks to the organic hair treatment made exclusively by Jing Monis Salon called Bonacure. They applied the total hair repair treatment here. My locks felt soft and smooth after. I love how it gave volume to my thin limp hair.

And before I forgot, he cut the dry ends of my hair and trimmed some parts as you can see on the photos above. After this he toned down the color of my hair from ash blonde/golden blonde to dark ash brown to match the color of my hair extensions. The last thing they did was applying the organic hair treatment (Bonacure)- total hair repair which Jing Monis Salon exclusively formulated for all types of hair problems.

DV hair pieces. The most gorgeous hair extensions that I've seen and now I'm owning one. I know this is expensive but worth the buy if you're planning to have one. This is made from human hair.

My hair extensions color is expresso, it's natural to medium brown shade.

It's very easy to use since this is a clip on type of hair extensions. They also have another type, the tape one. If I'm not mistaken, the latter is permanent, IMO.

After all these, the exciting part was the hair extensions. It's my first time to use this amazing hair pieces. The color is expresso and I was a bit unconscious at first because after years of being blondish, my hair color now is a bit dark. This real human hair extensions weighs a bit heavy since I'm not yet used to it but I really love wearing it!!! I love my makeover :) From the haircut, to the treatment to my extensions and the makeup. The makeover made me looked like my early 20's. Haha!

MUA- Joyce Seludo (a graduate from HD Makeup Studio and Academy)
Light smokey eyes for photoshoot.
Thank you so much Ms. Joyce, no wonder my makeup looks fab!!!
Mr. Fritz Almencion and Mr. Rigel Buna Tedor- creative stylists
Thank you so much guys!!!
The gorgeous PR and Marketing Manager Ms. Joana Ballesteros
Thank you so much for choosing me as the winner!!!

I highly recommend Jing Monis Salon! It's worth every peso you spent, you really get what you pay for. Aside from excellent service, you're treated like the most important person of all :D
