4 Mosquito Repellents to Try Here in the Philippines

Saturday, March 21, 2020

PAGASA, the official Meteorological and Hydrological Services agency of the Philippines declared last weekend the start of dry season or summer here in the country. Get ready with your umbrellas, sunglasses, sunscreen and other stuff that protects and prevents you from UV rays. As of this writing, I can really feel the summer vibes- hot humid air and a little sweat on my forehead even if I'm just sitting and scrolling through one of my social network sites.

Aside from these, I'm adding extra protection and prevention from a dangerous infectious tropical disease that scares me and my family the most. This is no other than Dengue fever! Dengue according to WHO is a mosquito-borne viral infection, if not given proper medical care will lead to death. Scary but true. I myself became a victim not once but twice and I'm lucky because I survived. I don't want that to happen again! I'm always praying that it will not happen to my only son. It's too dangerous for him to have this disease because he has G6PD (click to know more) that's why a mosquito repellent is a MUST for us. Anyhoo, sharing four 4 Mosquito Repellents to Try Here in the Philippines that we are using at home and more information about these products after the jump :)

Dengvaxia Dengue Vaccine Now Available in Watsons

Saturday, April 08, 2017

Did you know that there is no known cure for dengue fever? I was shocked when I heard this from the event speaker weeks ago during the launch of Dengvaxia Dengue Vaccine availability in select Watsons stores. So what really happens inside the hospital if a patient's laboratory result on dengue test is positive?

According to Dr. Rontgene Solante, patients who have dengue fever will only receive fever and hydration management in the hospital. After all these years, I thought there's a cure for dengue like antibiotics or a special kind of medicine. I fear mosquito bites because of dengue that's why I always follow preventive measures at home. Since I always believe that prevention is better than cure, I'll look on the brighter side despite having second thoughts of injecting the deadly virus inside my body. More information on dengue fever and Dengvaxia after the jump.

Product Review: Pest-Off Insect Killer

Friday, September 23, 2016

The news on Dengue here in our country is very alarming. Every month, there are cases of Dengue being reported on national television, I know that there are also other cases unreported and it saddens me because some don't get the proper treatment during those times that Dengue Vaccine is not yet available. This mosquito-borne disease is fatal because the virus that the female mosquito inflicts in its victim causes the platelets to drop and if not treated immediately, the patient will die.

Are you going to let Dengue harm you and your loved ones? Yes, there's a vaccine now but prevention is always better than cure. We need to keep our house clean and kill those pesky mosquitoes at home all year round! How do you make your home Dengue-free? Well, it starts with cleaning and using an insect-killing product that works. I've discovered Pest-Off Insect Killer and I want to share my thoughts on this product below :)

Aksyon Laban sa Dengue with GlaxoSmithKline's Paracetamol Calpol Event

Wednesday, September 03, 2014

It's rainy season again and I'm sure that mothers like me feared one thing- Dengue Fever! Yes, I associate rainy season with this dreadful disease because I became a victim too not once but twice! I had dengue fever when I was in grade school and in college. Dengue fever during my elementary days (1994) was not as scary as today because there's only one stage. Even though it's not as scary today, I was admitted at the hospital and was confined and monitored from time to time because my platelet was going down. Antibiotics and paracetamol was given and thank God that I survived. The second incident was worse because aside from the symptoms that I felt when I was 10 years old, new symptoms emerge like nose bleed, bruises and vomiting.

If my memory serves me right, the last Dengue Fever I had scared the hell out of me. I was confined in the hospital and was delusional that time. This disease is really scary and should be taken seriously because there's no known cure until now. Affected children are the ones who suffered too much because they don't know that a single bit of the female mosquito can threaten their lives.

That's why when I was invited to the Aksyon Laban sa Dengue with GlaxoSmithKline's Paracetamol Calpol Event last August 29, I didn't hesitate and said yes to the invitation. I'm aware that Dengue Fever already evolved from different stages that's why I need to hear factual information from the experts in this field. This is a very serious matter dearies so to know more about Dengue Fever management and the campaign of DOH to fight this disease, click CONTINUE READING and let's help in spreading the awareness!
