Philippine Wacoal 30th Anniversary

     Philippine Wacoal is celebrating 30 years here in the country. The premium brand of intimate apparel that has been uplifting women for the past 3 decades will be holding two major events to feature the milestones of the company. If you're a long-time reader of this blog, prolly you've seen our epic Wacoal Passion for Product Tour in Kyoto, Japan last March 2018.

     I've learned a lot about Wacoal during our tour- their history, the mission to make the world beautiful and why everybody loves Wacoal. Philippine Wacoal Corporation president Ann Christine Palisoc said that the brand was driven by a powerful mission: to contribute to the Filipinas by helping them realize and express their desire to be beautiful. I agree that from the products they offer, to the advocacies they promote, the brand guarantees that every single Filipina realizes their beauty and worth.

Philippine Wacoal History

     In 1946, Wacoal Corporation was established as Wako-Shoji by Koichi Tsukamoto. Three years later, Wako-Shoji Co. Ltd. started as a business. Later on, the company changed its name to Wacoal Corp. and ventured to the international market. It was in June of 1989 when Philippine Wacoal Corporation was established. In the same year, the brand's first retail store was opened in Cinderella Northmall, Makati. After four years, the Direct Sales channel was launched, which opened growth opportunities for the brand in various parts of the country.

     Today, Philippine Wacoal Corporation is composed of 194 employees from different parts of the country. Aside from the Philippines, the global brand is also present in different Asian countries including China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Wacoal is now distributed nationwide in 61 department store counters (throughout the SM Group, Landmark, Rustan’s, Metro Gaisano, Sta. Lucia, and Island City Mall in Bohol), eight direct sales offices (three in Metro Manila, and one in Pampanga, Iloilo, Cebu, Davao, and Cagayan de Oro), six boutiques (Robinson’s Place, Manila; Grand Canal, McKinley Hill; Makati Circuit; U.P. Town Quezon City, Vertis North and SM Seaside City in Cebu) and three online stores

     I had the privilege to attend the Thanksgiving dinner held at Makati Shangrila last June 4, 2019. This is one of the major events that the brand organized to recognize notable people behind the brand’s success in the country. The dinner gala showcased the milestones of the brand and the plans for upcoming years.

     World-class performers like El Gamma Penumbra made a special presentation on women's empowerment. They showcased in their performance the role of women not only in the family but also in society.

     Notable Filipino women also shared their inspiring stories about their success and what it takes to become empowered women. They told us their beginnings, the failures they have to face, and how to overcome them. These women are successful in their chosen fields and are role models who uplift one another, they are included in “Wacoal’s Women of the World”.

     This campaign will showcase 30 notable, multi-hyphenates from different fields such as social entrepreneurship, art, and content creation/personal branding among others. This campaign will feature inspiring stories from successful women with the hope of empowering others who aspire to also put their name on the map—both locally and internationally. 

Empowering Filipino Women for 30 Years     

     Philippe Wacoal Corporation has been making Filipino women feel beautiful for 30 years now. I love the mission of Wacoal in inculcating a positive mindset that teaches us to confidently love our bodies, whatever shape, size, or age it may be. According to Ms. Palisoc “When you feel confident on the inside, this manifests through a beautiful glow on the outside. Confidence is beauty.” Ms. Palisoc also said that Philippine Wacoal Corporation's success sums up to "understanding the woman’s body backed by scientific study and has been the result of the brand’s core value of creating innovative and highly functional and comfortable products that enhance and beautify all individual body types."

     To celebrate the success, Wacoal is also organizing a five-day interactive exhibit at SM Makati. The exhibit will feature 3D and life-size key monuments from Japan, Paris, and USA, free activities per booth, and the Women of the World exhibit gallery. This interactive exhibit will be open to the public from June 26 to 30, 2019. 

Aging exquisitely with Wacoal

     On the last day of our Wacoal Passion for Product Tour in Kyoto, we visited the Wacoal Human Science Research Center that has been studying an estimated 40,000 women worldwide. They are closely monitoring how the bodies of nine to 60 years old, change during these various stages. Wacoal believes that it is crucial to select a bra that not only fits in terms of size but also corresponds to changes in shape and softness of the breasts as brought about by aging. Through this constant study of the woman’s changing body, Wacoal has become the woman’s partner in aging exquisitely.
