My Japan Lifestyle Haul

Wednesday, May 09, 2018

Hi dearies! Hope everyone's having a great week so far. I miss writing this kind of blog post. When I was starting, I write a haul post weekly because I want to share what I bought from my weekend shopping. I'm always on the look for new and exciting things thus I'll buy them and feature here on the blog. Shopping for beauty products is my kind of retail therapy that I seldom do these days. What we shop weekly now are necessities because of adulting!

Anyhoo, I'm a fan of Japanese culture. I love everything- Japan!!! From food, toys, fashion, and my fave- beauty, I always make sure to try the latest in these categories. When I was in Japan last March, I had a chance to shop for items that I rarely found here in the Philippines. Read more below to see my Japan haul, enjoy!

My Japan Lifestyle Haul
I was able to fit in my stuff and haul inside this medium luggage :)

Back in Manila, I already created a list of what to buy for pasalubong and for myself. Chocolate is life so that's the number one on the list. To make it easy for you and the Japanese SA (sales assistant), make sure to have a photo handy with complete details either in English text or Nihonggo. Not all Japanese SA's can understand English so be ready with that.

I only visited two malls in Kyoto- Don Quijote and Yodobashi. Some of the pasalubongs were bought at Kansai airport like the Daiso store and a random shop.

DON QUIJOTE

Don Quijote- this is the biggest discount store in Japan. You'll find almost everything you need there. Name it, they have it all!!! The Donki (short for Don Quijote) store where I shopped is located across the Kyoto Train Station (Directly outside the Hachijo Exit of JR Kyoto Station) at the second floor of Avanti Shopping Mall. The store opens 8:00 AM and closes at 12:00 midnight. This is just a few minutes walk from Ibis Styles Kyoto Station that's why I didn't get lost.

Food

Chocolates- Meiji Macadamia, Dars Milk and Dark Chocolate, KitKat Japan Green Tea which I find the texture richer and tastier compared to the one sold in supermarkets, Tirol is an assortment of chocolates that the kids and the adults will love, Furuta is an affordable chocolate and okay for my sweet tooth.

Chocolates, chocolates, chocolates!!!

Haribo Cherries which I can't find in membership stores and imported goods section of the supermarket that's why I bought one and Mintia Coldsmash because I find the packaging so sleek and handy.

The infamous Nissin Cup Seafood Noodles will always be on the list plus I want to try out the Royal Milk Tea and Nescafe Gold Blend that's an impulse buy.

Beauty

Most of the items here are pasalubongs. I want to give my relatives and friends something that they will use every day. DHC Lip Gloss, Moist Labo BB Cream, Dolly Angel Eyeshadow, and Shiseido Brow Pencil surely fits the bill. On the other hand, My Lash Mascara is highly recommended by Liz of The Project Vanity. Knowing Liz, I have to get it asap! Hahaha :) I also found a refill of the discontinued Majolica Majolica Pore Remaker Cover Powder Foundation in one of the shelves. It's my HG face powder for years now before going back to MAC. I have a review HERE.

Makeup

Out of the six items here, mine's four! The lip balm was given as a gift by Wacoal Corp. It's called Bee Honey and it's sooo good in fixing chapped lips. I will definitely purchase this again when I back to Japan this December. I got an undereye pad Kose Cosmeport Clear Turn that was recommended by the Camille Co :) DHC Eyelash Tonic for my thin and short lashes. This product ranked Best of the best (2006) in Cosme so I gotta try this. It's my sister who convinced me to try the Meishoku Del Clear Bright and Peel Facial Peeling Gel which I find similar to Cure. The Cow Beauty Soap is for my dear mother who is into anti-aging because she's already a senior citizen.

Skincare

I swear by Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler that's why I bought another one not for me but for my sister. I have three sisters by the way and these eyelash curlers were for them. I also bought a Shiseido Eyelash Curler for my other sisters to try. I'm a contact lens wearer since I was in Grade Six and it was only two years ago that I've tried Japanese Eyedrops. I have Rohto Lycee and trying out the Rohto C3 and Lion Smile Whiteye that claims to make eyes whiter and clearer. Hmm, let's see :)

Souvenirs

If you don't know what to buy for pasalubong and have a simple but rare collection at home, then your last resort are ref magnets and keychain. I think this is a no-brainer stuff to buy when visiting a new city or country. A default remembrance/souvenir for everyone :)

YODOBASHI CAMERA

I also went to another mall named Yodobashi to hunt for my son's toy. He requested for a limited edition Tomica to add to his collection and I found a few in this mall. The toy store is located on the third floor. Yodobashi is a camera store. The first and second floors are dedicated to all things camera and tech.

For the kids

I decided to buy these body bags for the pre-schoolers in the family. I have a big family and my parents already have ten grandchildren. The Mickey Mouse towel's for my godchild Isha while the Tomica Diecast Cars were for my son. He requested for Tomica Limited Vintage Neo Nissan GT-R Premium Edition 2017 Model, Dream Tomica- Initial D FC3S RX-7 and Initial D Skyline GT-R (R32).

For the kids

For the babies, I bought these soaps which are also a product of Cow Beauty- Kewpie Baby Soap plus the Shiseido Baby Powder and unbranded toothbrush with timer and nasal spray.

KANSAI DUTY-FREE

Upon checking my list, there are still few items that I need to buy. I can't think of what to give to my brothers and in-laws. Duty-Free is a lifesaver. I was able to score this Calvin Klein Miniature Perfumes, a set of Stationery and United Colors of Benetton purse. I also got curious on Chocola BB, an l-cysteine supplement with Vitamin C that's why I decided to buy it and give it a try.

Perfumes and other items from Kansai International Airport

Yes, it's a long list but I managed to buy almost everything given that we only have a short free time during our 4-day Wacoal Passion for Product Tour. Seeing these things reminds me of striving hard this year so that I can go back to Japan together with my family. We all been wanting to explore Tokyo this December or spend my birthday there in January.

More of haul post?

Good Times!~

    1. Hi Lovell,

Yes, chocolate is life. And the list, if madami-dami ka bibilihin need talaga yun. Kasi nakaka-overwhelmed sa dami ng mabibile. If wala ka list, kung ano-ano na lang makukuha mo.
