Product Review: Sangobion Iron Capsule

Thursday, March 12, 2015

Hello dearies! Finally, I'm here to share my experience on Sangobion Iron Capsule. For my new readers, I've been taking iron supplements on and off and the need to take iron resulted from my Salpingectomy operation 3 years ago. I was advised to take iron supplement for 3 months because I lost huge amount of blood during my operation. I also had blood transfusion that time so iron supplement became an important part of my everyday supplements.

Long before I joined the Sangobion Go Love Life campaign, I'm already a Sangobion user. I did not join the 15 day challenge because I already know the difference Sangobion versus other brands of iron in the market today. Maybe you'll ask me why only today that I'll be sharing my review if I'm already a long time user of the brand. It is because I've stopped popping iron supplement for more than a year and wasn't able to document the effect of the product. I also took Sangobion because I'm oblige to take it due to anemia and not because I need to review it. Anyhoo, more information about Sangobion after the jump. Click CONTINUE READING and see why I highly recommend this brand of iron supplement to boost iron production in your body.

Here are the benefits why you should consider taking the brand :)
  • Sangobion® is organic iron.
  • Sangobion® is ferrous gluconate and not ferrous sulfate. This organic iron formulation allows for better absorption* inside the body and has less gastrointestinal side effects than ferrous sulfate. *Haler, David (1952). The Therapeutic Response of Secondary Anemias to Organic and Inorganic Iron Salts. British Medial Journal, United Kingdom.
  • Sangobion® has Vitamins and Minerals
  • Sangobion® is packed with Vitamin C, Folic acid, Vitamin B12, Copper sulfate, and Manganese sulfate.
  • Sangobion® contains SORBITOL.
  • A common side effect of most iron supplements is constipation. Sangobion®’s Sorbitol component acts as an anti-constipating agent. Sorbitol is naturally found in edible fruits and vegetables.
  • Sangobion® is chocolate scented.
  • Ferrous sulfate usually leaves a metallic aftertaste. Sangobion® has a sweet chocolate scent that conceals such metallic hint.
  • Merck Seal of Quality.
  • Sangobion® is manufactured under strict quality processes of professionals of The Merck Group (Merck) – the oldest pharmaceutical company in the world.

Product Review: Sangobion Iron Capsule
What I like:
  • The price- I can say it's cost-effective because aside from iron, it also contains a minimal amount of other vitamins like Vitamin C, Folic acid, Vitamin B12, Copper sulfate, and Manganese sulfate.
  • It is chocolate scented making it more easy to swallow unlike regular iron supplement that smells like rusting iron.
  • No unusual or unpleasant taste in the mouth after swallowing the capsule.
  • Sangobion doesn't upset my stomach. I experienced bloating, upset stomach and stomach pain with other brands of iron supplement.
  • Sangobion doesn't cause constipation- this is one of the nicest things about the brand that's  I highly recommend it.
  • Taking Sangobion doesn't make me feel lethargic and sleepy.
  • I noticed that there's an increased in mentrual flow which I like because when I don't take iron supplements like Sangobion, I only have 2-3 days very light mentrual flow.
  • Easily accessible.
  • There's a batch, manufacturing and expiry date printed on the package.
What I don't like:
  • None so far.
Will I repurchase: Yes!

Recommendation:
I give this a 5/5 rating. I really like this organic iron supplement. I take one capsule everyday (any time of the day) and I don't feel negative reactions at all and yay because there's no constipation at all! But before taking iron supplements you have to consult your doctor first. I believe that there's a recommended period of time when start and stop taking iron supplements and it depends on the state of your body.

Take for example my father is a dialysis patient and he takes 500mg of iron capsules 3 time a day. So better check first with your physician on how long you should take iron supplements and if you need it.

Have you tried taking Sangobion Iron Capsule? What's your experience while taking this supplement?

Good Times!~

    1. Hi Elise,

If it's not good for the intestines, why do pharmaceutical companies produce them in capsule form? I'm not an expert kasi to answer this pero that's my opinion lang naman. Anyhoo, it also depends on how you drink iron. Dapat full ang stomach if sumasakit ang tyan mo every time you drink iron.

    1. Hi Neliza,

There's no study that it can help on that problem but it will help maintain healthy blood levels in case you're anemic.

  6. Hello, the price you quoted (18.25 php), I'm confused about whether it's the price of a tablet or the pack. If it's for the pack, how many tablets does it have?

    1. Hi,

Yes a 13 year old can take this. It doesn't come in powder form. Since this is chocolate flavor coated, I think you will not have a hard time swallowing it.

    1. Hi,

You can take this as maintenance. Some take it three time a day. If you're really anemic, consult a doctor first para mabigayan ka ng tamang dose.

    1. Hi,

It's better to consult your doctor on this. Since you're already an anemic, he/she might give you other iron supplements that will raise your hemoglobin level asap.

  14. I take Sangobian when i went to Singapore last week, dahil hindi ako nakabili ng wine para pampatulog, binigyan ako ng sister in law ng Sangobion, okay daw sa mga anemic..for how many months na umiinom ako ng wine every night para makatulog lang. But this time, naappreciate ko na sobra ang med na ito,for 4 days na hindi na ako umiinom ng wine, pero ang sarap ng tulog ko after ko umiinom ng Sangobion every night. Do i need to consult a Doctor pa din po or okay lang po na iminom na lang ako nang once a day? Thank you.:-)
