Various Giveaway Winnings + COM

Thursday, October 11, 2012

Joining giveaways has been very exciting for me. I won numerous prizes from beauty products, skin care, clothing, and food gift certificates. I received different size of packages from small to medium pouch. Some prizes that I won were claimed directly from the person who hosted the giveaway or the office of the company giving the prize/s. Months ago, I received a big package and it's my first time to win a pair of shoes.

I can't believed that I was chosen as the Commenter of the Month from Ana Gonzales' Blog: The Fashionista Commuter. I really really love Ana's Blog! Her stories are the best :D I'm happy that I already met her twice. She's very humble and generous because this Manel's Passport Holder also includes discount coupons from Zalora, VNC and Beyond Yoga.

Product Review: Skinfood Rose Cheek Chalk in Rose Peach

Saturday, October 06, 2012

Good morning guys! This review has been sitting on my blog bin for quite some time now. I think it's time to share my thoughts about this product after months of use. I also want to lessen my backlogs that's why I'm wide-awake till now editing some posts and watermarking photos. I mentioned on my previous posts that I'm a lip balm gal. Did I mentioned that I'm also a lip cheek tint addict? Well that was after graduating college. If my memory serves me right, I can't leave the house without my cheek tint on. I feel naked without it. But when my skin started breaking out badly, a year after graduation I stopped using cheek tints. I looked so sickly without it until I met bb creams that gave my skin a glow and healthy flush as if I'm wearing a blush.

Even though I'm addicted to cheek tints before, I also tried using powder blush. My first powder blush was E.L.F. Natural Radiance in Glow. I love this blush to bits but the staying power was so so for my cheeks. I'm lemming for a NARS Orgasm blush but it's too pricey for a stay at home mom like me. I said to myself that I'll buy expensive makeups when I already have a stable job.

So when I was browsing and looking for a cheaper dupe or closer dupe of NARS Orgasm aside from E.L.F., I found this cute little blush from Skinfood's website but still the price was a bit steep for me that time. I waited for many many months and after some time I was lucky to be one of J's winner for her birthday giveaway. I won this set  and I'm very happy that this set also includes Benefit Cha Cha Tint that I will review on my next post.

This is the only cream to powder blush in my makeup stash right now. I think I need a backup cause I've already hit the pan but I'm still having second thoughts on what shade to choose. The shade of this is blush is #2 Rose Peach, I think shade #1 Rose Pink looks cute too.
Skinfood Rose Cheek Chalk in Rose Peach
Containing moist, soft rosehip oil, this cream-type pearl blusher provides a sheer, gorgeous makeup finish. Its creamy texture allows for easy application, so it can be applied well over powder. A variety of contained pearls reflect light in different directions, creating the appearance of depth and radiance.
Skinfood Rose Cheek Chalk in Rose Peach
This blush comes with a puff applicator. J discarded the puff applicator and replaced it with this sponge.

Look ma, I already abused this blush XD
size: 4.5g

price: 400 php online (Around $7.00)

place bought:  J (The Little Cool Shop)

instruction for use: For a natural, vibrant look, pat gently onto cheek using fingers or contained puff, then finish with powder. For a cute look, after applying powder, pat gently onto center of cheeks using fingers or puff.

ingredients: I cannot read the ingredients because it's in Korean text.
Skinfood Rose Cheek Chalk in Rose Peach
Swatch twice at the back of my hand, there's a bit of shimmer
Skinfood Rose Cheek Chalk in Rose Peach
On my cheek, sorry for the uneven application. I was in a hurry when I applied this blush
What I like:
  • The most cost –effective blush that I’ve used.
  • The finish is matte even though it has a bit of shimmer.
  • Easy to apply from cream to powder finish.
  • Amazingly long lasting. More than 8 hours with no blush retouch and there’s still color to my cheeks.
  • Nice color payoff.
  • Pleasant fragrance.
What I don't like:
  • Very small tub.
  • I guess the puff doesn't work because the seller replaced it with a sponge.
Will I repurchase? Yes, I want to try the rose pink shade.

Recommendation:

I give this blush a 4.5/5 rating. I always use this blush when I go to events and when I go on a date with ze hubby. This blush looks good on photos too and very natural in person. I think the puff that comes with it was effin hard to use so substituting it with a sponge will do the job. I apply this on top of my powder foundation or after applying bb cream.

What's your favorite blush? Thanks for sharing! Have a great day ahead :D

Myrtle Sarrosa for LOLITA Fragrance Grand Launch

Wednesday, October 03, 2012

Weeks ago, I was invited to the VIP launch of LOLITA- a new fragrance line from Beauty Elements Ventures incorporated (BEVi) makers of the very first kojic acid soap in the country Kojie San. I'm very excited when I received the e-vite from Paul, managing director of PMP Communications and also known as The PR Guy. I knew that the launch will be very special and grand because they'll be introducing their product endorser. I have no idea about their endorser since I rarely watch television programs nowadays. I've seen #MyrtleforLolita trended on Twitter days before the event but still have no clue who she was.

The grand launch was held at 55 Events Place Tomas Morato, Quezon City. I arrived there with fellow bloggers and never expected the venue's ohh so cute theme. This was the first event that I attended where I was really amazed with everything!

This table presentation made me feel that I'm attending a debut, very girly with the heart- shaped balloons and those cute little flowers.

Yay for the food even if I'm always on a diet who can resists this pasta, chicken and fish fillet combo together with my favorite veggies on the side.
The event started with a mini fashion show from selected audience who "stand out" that night. Actually, I was chosen by Bestie as one of the girls who will walk on stage but I'm very shy and nervous that night. My toes got blistered too and I feel so uncomfortable walking with my wedge. After the mini fashion show they introduced their product endorser Myrtle Sarrosa, the grand winner of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 4. When she walked on stage and saw her pretty face on the screen, everyone was awed with her charming personality.

The most lovable Cosplayer in town is Lolita’s darling new endorser! Myrtle Sarrosa, fresh from her win from Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition 4, is the true embodiment of the Lolita girl. The 17-year-old’s charming personality and quick wit go hand-in-hand with the many playful sides she is known for. There is a Lolita scent for Myrtle’s every whim: audaciously floral with CALI, fresh and breezy with FANTASY, delicately warm with CHICK, tutti frutti with FAIRY, flirty femme with ROUGE, and simply saccharine with her favorite, COSPINK! Actress, host, recording artist… as this talented teen cutie keeps adding titles under her belt, Lolita will stay her BFF fragrance through it all!

Sorry for the crappy and poor quality of my photos, I wasn't able to get near the stage because everyone's going gaga to see a glimpse of her while dancing. I can really say that her charm captivated our hearts specially the media and the press. After this short dance number the lovely host Ms. Janeena Chan together with Paul and Myrtle answered all the questions from the audience regarding Lolita-the newest line of fragrance from the makers of Kojie.san

Product Review: Quick FX Pimple Eraser

Sunday, September 30, 2012

Hi dearies! Today I want to share my thoughts on this cheap and effective product that I dared to try hoping that it will help me lighten up dark marks on my face caused by pimples. I saw this at Watson's months ago and I'm a bit skeptical if this product will work. Whenever I shop for my toiletries, my eyes were glued on this but I always resists the urge thinking that it will not work because it's cheap and never heard of the brand before. If I'm not mistaken, I attempted to put this on my shopping basket more than five times and when I'm going to pay for it, I will just leave it on the counter or inside my shopping basket thinking that it's just a waste of money if I'll purchase it.

So when my skin was acting up last month, I decided to take extra care of it by adding spot treatments. I searched for a zit zapper and I found a good one here. Pimples will leave a mark or post pigmentation that will eventually lighten up on it's own but it will take more than a month or longer depending on our skin's ability to regenerate. But for some individuals like me who have fair skin, this dark marks or blemishes look very unsightly. I can use a concealer to hide those marks and a heavy duty concealer that is pretty expensive will do the job. Since I'm a cheapskate, I'll look for another alternative.

Quick FX Pimple Eraser
helps dry up pimples, helps diminish and reduce dark spots due to scarring, helps protect the skin against the sun
I have no choice but to brave myself and try this Quick FX pimple eraser that I've been tempting to buy at Watsons long time ago. Well, I think my curiosity paid off :D Even if I'm thinking of the worst (negative reaction of my skin to the product) during my first application, my fingers were crossed and I patiently waited for the result. I can't assure you that this product works 100% but at least, I saw some changes and still hoping that it will lighten my blemishes more after using it for a longer period of time.
  • With Glycolic Acid that rejuvenates and evens out skin tone. It also clears pores by removing old and dead skin, exposing healthy skin cells underneath.
  • With Salicylic Acid that helps prevent and treat pimples. It also clears out blemishes, fine lines, and dark spots.
  • With Zinc Oxide that helps control inflammations and relieves the skin against irritation and rash. It also helps provide superior protection against the harmful rays of the sun.
  • With Vitamin C that helps protect against UVB rays and can help combat sun damage. It also decreases wrinkles and lightens pigmented skin.
  • With Niacinamide that helps lighten dark spot. It also helps in the treatment of acne.

Quick FX Pimple Eraser
Thick consistency so a little goes a long way.

size: 10g

price: 49.75 php (Around $1.00+)

place bought: Watsons Sm Fairview

instructions for use: Gently apply on the area affected by pimples. Apply two times a day, morning and night.

ingredients: Aqua, Mineral Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol (and) Ceteareth-20, Zinc Oxide, Isopropyl Myristate, Stearic Acid, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate, Butyrospermum Parkii, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycolic Acid, Niacinamide, Methylisothiazolinone and Chlorphenesin, Salicylic Acid, Ethyl Ascorbic Acid.

What I like:
  • The price is a steal! It's cheap compared to other whitening spot treatment in the market.
  • Unscented.
  • No allergic reaction, breakouts or whatsoever.
  • A little goes a long way.
  • Contains 5 active ingredients that perform different function to combat skin imperfections.
  • I noticed that some pimple marks lightened after three weeks of religious application.
  • There's a bit of peeling on the newly dried pimple and post acne scar.
  • Batch, manufacturing and expiration date is stamped on the packaging.

What I don't like:
  • The packaging- you have to transfer the product to a small pot container. I think it's more convenient to use if they place the product in a tube-type container.
  • Takes a little time and effort to absorb.

Will I repurchase? Yes!

Recommendation:
I give this a 4.25 4.75/5 rating. I use this together with Celeteque Acne Spot Corrector Gel and with patience of applying both product day and night, I can say that there's an improvement on the size and intensity of blemishes and dark spots on my face. This cream does not produce significant results overnight so be patient and apply it religiously. If you have spare time, you can apply the product more than twice like what I do to speed up the lightening process. Make sure you do a patch test before applying the product. It contains mineral oil so to those allergic to it just skip this.

Do you use spot treatment cream to lighten pimple marks? Thanks for sharing!

Good Times!~
