Saturday, November 14, 2015

Hi dearies! I feel very privileged and honored to be invited to one of the sweetest event of the year. I'm definitely sure you've already seen top beauty bloggers raving the newest baby in town. Yes, this makeup brand is taking the beauty blogging community by storm because aside from the quality of their products, the price is budget-friendly and proudly Philippine made!

I was invited to the grand launch of Pink Sugar Cosmetics last October that was held at Stella Woodfire Bistro in BGC. It was an afternoon of fun and playtime as we swatched all their makeup products including the uber pigmented lipsticks, dual-end eyeliners, lip and cheek tints, day to night eye shadow palettes and HD blushes to name a few. See event highlights and other information about the makeup line below :)

Pink Sugar Cosmetics was created as a makeup solution for women looking for products of high quality and great value. Keeping in mind the beauty regimen of Filipina women, they develop products that are innovative and multi-purpose, which result in effortless beauty solutions.

When I arrived at the venue, I was shocked and surprised at the same time because I saw creative packaging of the makeup. I was thinking of international brands but of course I will not compare because I know that Pink Sugar Cosmetics is a Filipino brand that's proud of its own. The first product that caught my attention were the lipsticks! There were 24 shades in  display calling my name to swatch them on by one! So without further ado, here are the products that I'm sure will make you go to the nearest Pink Sugar Cosmetics counter after seeing their beauty now!

Product Review: Tony Moly Delight Blusher 06 Girls Pink

Thursday, January 22, 2015

Hello dearies! Finally, I'll be sharing my thoughts on another product from Tony Moly. I'm sure you already know that my favorite Korean makeup brands are Tony Moly and Etude House. I find most of their products cost-effective and functional plus the pretty and chic side of their packaging brings out the girly-girl in me.

I've been looking for a pink blush because I'm curious on how it will fare with my pale white skin. My default blush shade is peach and there are times that I find the color boring on days when I want to add a pop of color on my cheeks. I'm not sure if light or baby pink shade will look good on my cheeks sans my age. I don't want to look 'trying hard' to look young so I should look for an affordable pink blush that will give my cheeks the natural healthy flush. Here's my honest to goodness review of Tony Moly Delight Blusher in Girls Pink. Click CONTINUE READING and see it it's a yay or a nay :)

Product Review: E.L.F. Blush in Flushed

Wednesday, October 02, 2013

Hellos! Here's a review of my third blush on my history of powder and cream blushers. I'm a long time cheek tint user before I started blogging and just lost my love for cheek tints when my fave cheek tint was discontinued. Anyhoo, this is an impulse buy and now I'm having a love-hate relationship with it. I bought this blush because I forgot to bring my trusted ol blush for touch up before and after the go see that I attended months ago. I was in a hurry that day and the brand that came in my mind when I pass by Landmark, Trinoma was ELF. I had a good relationship with ELF Blush in Glow before that I actually hit the pan. So without a doubt I'll pick ELF again but I was surprised that it has been repackage and not sure if the formula was reformulated too. Since I'm in a hurry, I haven't tried the blush and just bought it right away after getting from the shelves.

When I stared closely at the blush, I'm not sure if the shade suits my skin tone. I find the shade too dark on my cheeks after application. After two hours, I noticed that the color of the blush oxidized on my cheeks as it turned red. I'm not sure if it's because of the lighting on the venue's comfort room. But when I got home, I ask le hubby if I look like a clown with this blush on. He said no but with a grin on his face.

So after that incident, I decided not to use this blush again. But I'm hopeful that it will work for me on the event that I opted to use the blush again. On my recent fotd, I use this blush again and I still find it unflattering on my cheeks. Please help me decide if I'll continue to use it, read my review and see my swatch. Virginia Olsen Minerals Fantasy Holiday Collection Launch

Friday, November 23, 2012

Christmas is just around the corner. I'm very excited to celebrate Christmas this year because my son can now hum some Christmas songs. Since I'm talking about the merriest season of the year here let me tell you something naturally fun stuff for the holiday season. Makeups! 'Tis the season to be jolly and with makeup I'm sure something glittery and shimmering will bring happiness to makeup lovers out there particularly with eyeshadows! Do you love wearing bright and colorful eyeshadows but doesn't have the courage to show 'em? Are you afraid that glittery eyeshadow can cause allergic reactions or can't easily be removed by makeup removers? Why not try mineral makeup :D
Last November 16 (Friday), I was invited to the bloggers launch of Virginia Olsen Minerals FANTASY Holiday Collection. I'm happy that I made it to this event because this was the first mineral makeup that I'll be featuring in my blog or should I say my first venture to the whole line of mineral makeup to be exact.
So let me share with you my experience with Virgina Olsen- The naturally fun stuff!
Virginia Olsen Minerals (VOM) is 100% pure natural mineral makeup--paraben free, bismuth & talc free, which is suitable for women of any age, ethnicity or skin type. Our formulations are calming to the skin, making VOM ideal for women prone to sensitivities; and being fragrance-free, they are particularly compatible with delicate skin--giving a sheer, natural, and flawless coverage.
VOM is pure and natural. Containing nothing but minerals extracted and refined from the Earth. It's free of harsh chemicals, waxes, oils, preservatives, and fillers. Mineral makeup is non-comedogenic, and hypo-allergenic. Mineral makeup contains powerful sun blocking minerals, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. These two ingredients provide natural broad-spectrum UVA, UVB and URA ray protection.
Let's now go on and be mesmerized with the shades of eyeshadow from the FANTASY Holiday Collection. If you're an avid reader of my blog I'm sure you know that I'm just starting my love for eye makeup. Take a look of these gorgeous shades, the photo doesn't give justice to the true color. Well, I'm happy to announce that this was my first time to swatch mineral eye shadow and it's awesome!

Lovely shades to sport this season (L-R): Lover's Moon, Moonlight Star, Kryptonite, Stardust, Crescent Moon and Tinkerbelle
These colors were truly fantasy inspired! Since I still consider myself newbie when it comes to eye shadows, I chose these colors that will gave my eyes the subtle color. I made a swatch on my faves: Stardust and Moonlight Star but the former is now ultimate fave because I can use it to highlight the corners of my eyes and for the sheer glow that I want with my eyelids.

Stardust is Love!
There's a lot of reason why mineral makeup afficionados should try Virginia Olsen. They also  have foundation, blush, makeup tools and eyelash enhancer. To tell you honestly, I got samples of mineral makeup before but got dismayed because they only have three shades of foundation to choose from but with Virgina Olsen, it's not 3 or 4 but read: 10!!! Isn't that amazing? I know choosing the right shade of foundation is very tricky so if they have 10, then there's a perfect match for everybody :D
Virginia Olsen Minerals Fantasy Holiday Collection
Yay! The more, the merrier
Aside from these, they also have the Green Tea Mineral Makeup Line which is formulated using the nourishing, toning, healing and skin protecting ingredients: green tea leaves, zinc oxide, plus rice & bamboo silks—which come from the buds of the rice and bamboo plant. It is combined with cranberry powder for flavonoid and antioxidant properties. My apologies because I accidentally deleted the photo of these babies but you can browse them through Virginia Olsen Minerals Website for more info by clicking HERE

I also made a swatch of their blushes. They'll be introducing more blush next year and that's what we're excited for. Please bear with me, this is the way how I swatch blushes :p It hardly shows up on my skin that's why I have to make it wide and more than once.

Application of mineral makeup is such a breeze if you have the right tools! Even though I'm not an expert, I can feel the softness of their brushes and the natural bamboo handle adds a plus for me :D Talk about nature here, going green it is!

Product Review: Skinfood Rose Cheek Chalk in Rose Peach

Saturday, October 06, 2012

Good morning guys! This review has been sitting on my blog bin for quite some time now. I think it's time to share my thoughts about this product after months of use. I also want to lessen my backlogs that's why I'm wide-awake till now editing some posts and watermarking photos. I mentioned on my previous posts that I'm a lip balm gal. Did I mentioned that I'm also a lip cheek tint addict? Well that was after graduating college. If my memory serves me right, I can't leave the house without my cheek tint on. I feel naked without it. But when my skin started breaking out badly, a year after graduation I stopped using cheek tints. I looked so sickly without it until I met bb creams that gave my skin a glow and healthy flush as if I'm wearing a blush.

Even though I'm addicted to cheek tints before, I also tried using powder blush. My first powder blush was E.L.F. Natural Radiance in Glow. I love this blush to bits but the staying power was so so for my cheeks. I'm lemming for a NARS Orgasm blush but it's too pricey for a stay at home mom like me. I said to myself that I'll buy expensive makeups when I already have a stable job.

So when I was browsing and looking for a cheaper dupe or closer dupe of NARS Orgasm aside from E.L.F., I found this cute little blush from Skinfood's website but still the price was a bit steep for me that time. I waited for many many months and after some time I was lucky to be one of J's winner for her birthday giveaway. I won this set  and I'm very happy that this set also includes Benefit Cha Cha Tint that I will review on my next post.

This is the only cream to powder blush in my makeup stash right now. I think I need a backup cause I've already hit the pan but I'm still having second thoughts on what shade to choose. The shade of this is blush is #2 Rose Peach, I think shade #1 Rose Pink looks cute too.
Skinfood Rose Cheek Chalk in Rose Peach
Containing moist, soft rosehip oil, this cream-type pearl blusher provides a sheer, gorgeous makeup finish. Its creamy texture allows for easy application, so it can be applied well over powder. A variety of contained pearls reflect light in different directions, creating the appearance of depth and radiance.
Skinfood Rose Cheek Chalk in Rose Peach
This blush comes with a puff applicator. J discarded the puff applicator and replaced it with this sponge.

Look ma, I already abused this blush XD
size: 4.5g

price: 400 php online (Around $7.00)

place bought:  J (The Little Cool Shop)

instruction for use: For a natural, vibrant look, pat gently onto cheek using fingers or contained puff, then finish with powder. For a cute look, after applying powder, pat gently onto center of cheeks using fingers or puff.

ingredients: I cannot read the ingredients because it's in Korean text.
Skinfood Rose Cheek Chalk in Rose Peach
Swatch twice at the back of my hand, there's a bit of shimmer
Skinfood Rose Cheek Chalk in Rose Peach
On my cheek, sorry for the uneven application. I was in a hurry when I applied this blush
What I like:
  • The most cost –effective blush that I’ve used.
  • The finish is matte even though it has a bit of shimmer.
  • Easy to apply from cream to powder finish.
  • Amazingly long lasting. More than 8 hours with no blush retouch and there’s still color to my cheeks.
  • Nice color payoff.
  • Pleasant fragrance.
What I don't like:
  • Very small tub.
  • I guess the puff doesn't work because the seller replaced it with a sponge.
Will I repurchase? Yes, I want to try the rose pink shade.

Recommendation:

I give this blush a 4.5/5 rating. I always use this blush when I go to events and when I go on a date with ze hubby. This blush looks good on photos too and very natural in person. I think the puff that comes with it was effin hard to use so substituting it with a sponge will do the job. I apply this on top of my powder foundation or after applying bb cream.

What's your favorite blush? Thanks for sharing! Have a great day ahead :D

Good Times!~
