1. Dark chocolate

Dark chocolate isn’t just delicious, it can be great for your skin too. Chocolate contains compounds called flavonols that act as strong antioxidants, and may also have a hydrating effect on your skin. The darker the chocolate the higher the amount of these flavonols, so choose a chocolate with a high cacao percentage to get all of the skin benefits.

2. Orange and yellow fruits and vegetables

Veggies in the orange/yellow hue are rich with a strong antioxidant called carotenoids. Carotenoids may help protect against skin UV damage from the sun as well as potentially improving tone, brightness, and firmness. Pick out some bell peppers, squash, carrots, oranges, and apricots during your next shopping trip to give your skin a boost.

Olives aren’t just tasty briny flavor bombs, they are actually an antioxidant packed fruit too. With oleic acid and vitamin E found in olives, they may help hydrate and nourish the skin, while helping to protect it from the sun’s skin-damaging UV rays.

5. Oats

Oats may have a two-fold benefit for skin, when applied and when eaten. You can apply oats to the face to help soak up dirt and oil while soothing and reducing inflammation. Or, you can eat oats on the regular to benefit from their high vitamin, mineral, and antioxidant levels.
