     It's June already, summer vacation is over but for some summer will never end. It's not only the sea, sand, and the sun that make summer memories but there are other things that will take you back to the laid back season. Speaking of summer, Maison Eric Kayser PH invited me to an afternoon party last June 03, 2017 at the Refinery Rockwell for the launch of their summer pastry collection.

     It was an afternoon tea party where guests were treated to mouth-watering pastries and other bakers' confectionaries. Maison Eric Kayser is a French contemporary bakery. They are known to produce French traditional bread, pastries, and biscuits to name a few. Let me share with you some Eric Kayser Summer Pastry Collection offerings below :)

Lemon Meringue Eclair

     Choux pastry, lemon cream, and torched meringue. This lemon meringue eclair combines the sweet and the tangy for a tongue-tingling treat for the summer heat. I find the lemon cream tangy but the torched meringue gives a balance of sweetness in every bite.

Mango-Passion Tart

     Almond butter crust, chocolate passion fruit ganache, and mango jelly. Smooth and rich, sweet and tart. The complex flavors of the mango-passion tart entice the palate. I was not able to try this offering but I presume that fruit lovers will enjoy this especially if you're a fan of the famous tropical fruit-mango!

Pear Amandine Tart

     Butter crust, almond-raspberry filling, and pear. The sweet and tart flavors of the almond-raspberry filling are enhanced by the juicy in-season pear. I'm not a fan of this fruit but when combined with almond and raspberry, it gives the right kind of sweetness that is perfect for a cup or tea or coffee.

Pear Amandine Tart

Pineapple Tart

     Shortcrust pastry, coconut cream, and poached pineapple. Who would have thought that coconut cream and pineapple will make a perfect combination? For a pineapple lover like me, the marriage of the milky coconut cream and sweet pineapple will make send your taste buds to a tropical island. The feeling is like that of drinking a creamy pineapple milkshake by the beach.

Chocolate Cookies

     In Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, White Chocolate, and Dark Chocolate Oatmeal flavors. Eric Kayser's world famous chocolate cookies are moist, filled with chocolate chunks and great with milk or coffee. This definitely is a must not only during summer but whole year round. An all-time favorite treats for the kids and kids-at-heart.

Financiers

     Moist and dense, financiers are almond cakes made to go with a nice cup of tea. Available in Pistachio, Vanilla, Chocolate, and Raspberry flavors. Among these flavors, pistachio is an instant fave!

Raspberry Twist

     Made with viennoise dough, almond cream, and candied raspberry. The sweet combination of almond and raspberry pairs well with full-flavored tea and coffee. If you love butter croissant, try this one. The flavor is not the usual blueberry or strawberry because it's raspberry. Kidding aside, this one pastry has a light taste but filling.

Strawberry Cream Cake

     Vanilla cream, sponge cake, fresh strawberry. This Strawberry Cream Cake is Eric Kayser's pièce de résistance. Fresh, creamy, and sweet! Let the photo do the talking :)

     It was a sweet afternoon! Everyone enjoyed Eric Kayser's Summer Pastry Collection especially when the pastries were paired with their favorite drinks. I have a kid in tow that afternoon who doesn't like bread that much but I was surprised to see my son finished his butter croissant in one sitting. My afternoon tea party favorites: raspberry twist, pineapple tart, lemon meringue eclair, and pear amandine tart.
