Product Review: Otsuka Collagen C Jelly

Sunday, July 17, 2016

Hello dearies! Sharing with you a review of Otsuka Collagen C Jelly anti-aging supplement. This product is a hot item in Japan and to those who have tried it, their experience was good. Before Cheska's online store sent me this product for a review, I've seen a pack of Otsuka Collagen C Jelly inside my sister's bag. She said that her college friend who goes to Japan for a vacation gave it to her.

I was intrigued because it's new to me. Collagen in jelly stick form? Surprisingly, yes. From powder form and juice drinks, now comes jelly sticks! Will this type of collagen make it big here in our country in the anti-aging department? I've heard this type of collagen is famous in Japan because it's convenient to use and the fruity flavor makes it easier to consume. Full review details of Otsuka Collagen C Jelly below :)

Product Review: Otsuka Collagen C Jelly

Look at the color of the packaging, it's hot pink! My first impression when the box reached our doorsteps last month. Upon opening, I saw 31 jelly sticks that need to be consumed as an everyday dessert but at the back of my mind I was figuring out the taste. If you're a long time collagen supplement user, I assume that most of the collagen brands that you have tried in the market today have a fishy smell and taste.

Product Review: Otsuka Collagen C Jelly

At first, I was intimidated by the color of the Otsuka Collagen C Jelly stick, I'm a bit hesitant to taste it because my sensitive nose smells something different. It smells fruity but there's a bit of fish smell. Without tasting the product, I can surely say it's collagen. As for the taste, I can say it's like blackcurrant to berry but again, there's an aftertaste like that of the regular collagen that I've tried and reviewed before but it was tolerable!

What I like:
  • Otsuka Collagen Jelly C is Japan FDA approved.
  • The packaging- it's very handy and travel-friendly.
  • It's wrap individually, convenient to bring anytime, anywhere.
  • This jelly stick form of collagen can be eaten any time of the day. It's perfect for snacks or dessert because it has a fruity flavor.
  • Best paired with glutathione to boost and speed up the whitening process.
  • I didn't experience any discomforts like vomiting, headache, nausea, breakouts or whatsoever.
  • Otsuka Collagen C Jelly made my skin glowing even if there were times that I only have 4 hours of sleep.
  • Less hair fall and no more brittle nails.
  • It made my skin supple and hydrated. There are times that I don't need to use my favorite lotion.
  • My skin looks healthy and shiny- not the 'oil' type of shine, if you may ask.
  • Batch, manufacturing and expiry date printed on the package.

What I don't like:
  • The price- a bit steep for budget-conscious individuals.
  • Not easily accessible.

Will I purchase? Yes, it's in the realm of possibility. I've already considered taking collagen supplement as part of my anti-aging regimen.

Recommendation:
I give this a 4.75/5 rating. I guess it's because of the collagen content per stick. I made a computation based on what's written on the box (77,500 mg / 31 sticks) so I presume that each stick contains roughly around 2,500 mg of collagen and the required is around 3,000-5,000 mg a day especially if you're older let's say around 40 years old above. But I will still highly recommend this if you're around 25 years old and new to collagen supplements.

As for the fine lines, pre-mature wrinkles, wrinkles, laugh lines, and crow's feet, I'm lucky that I have a few of them that's unnoticeable as of the moment. While taking the supplement, I did not see a drastic change in their size, appearance etc but my skin felt a tight feeling so meaningless sagging of the skin. Again, it is best to see maximum results with continued use :)

  1. Hi. I was not too exposed with supplements like glutathione and collagen but when I have read reviews and watched some vloggers, I began searching for these. May I ask, which is better, the ohiro collagen placenta powder or combination of otsuka collagen c and otsuka placenta c? Im currently taking relumins collagen blend. My 5th day but it's pricey. Do u think those I mentioned will give much effect on one's skin? Thanku

    1. Hi Laces and Ribbons,

I will recommend the Orihiro more because it's already a combination of placenta and collagen in one dosage plus it's in liquid form already so it's easily absorbed by the body once you take it.

  5. What if I already started taking collagen at a dosage of 5,000mg? Is this a good alternative just in case during travel? What do you think would be the recommended intake of jelly I need to consume per day? Thank you.
