Belle de Jour (BDJ) Rendevouz: From Fears to Fierce

Monday, November 25, 2013

Hello dearies! I just wanted to share with you another past event that I attended last July. This was my first event from Belle de Jour. I got excited when I saw BDJ's post on Facebook about the event that's why I joined their contest just to have an invite. Are you familiar with Belle de Jour? Well, Belle de Jour or BDJ is the maker of super awesome planners that fit everyone whether your a high school or college student, corporate lady and stay-at-home mom (that's me) or should I say in all walks of life, BDJ planner is for you!

When I won this planner from a blog contest that I've joined last year, I was very happy because I'll be able to continue what I love doing during high school and college years- updating my dear diary! I love writing and a diary is a must for someone who wants to organize things in his/her everyday life through jotting down important notes. So back to the event, the theme of this year's Belle de Jour Rendevouz was from fears to fierce. It's a very exciting event because it covered something from fashion, travel, beauty and health. This four topics were essential to girls who wants to develop higher self-esteem. Do you want to know more what happened during the event? Click CONTINUE READING to find out!

Registration Booth
It's raining that day but nothing can stop us from joining this fun and meaningful event. We arrived exactly on time and patiently waited for the program to start. Since the BDJ team already sent a list of musts before and during the event we already prepared for it! Wondering why instead of I it's We? My blogger friends also attended the event! Events are always fun with friends and with other people who shares same interests like you, right?

Bellas waiting for the program to start
Someone in the above photo stands out? Did you noticed the girl wearing glittery blue cap? That's Alex Lapa, fashion blogger in the house! She's the first speaker that afternoon and while waiting for other bellas to arrive Dj Tracy Abad, the pretty host introduced partner brands to use and made a short speech about the program

Hosted by Ms. Tracy Abad
We were all set and everyone settled down as Ms. Tracy Abad introduced the first speaker- who talked about fashion and styling, the one and only Alex Lapa. I've seen Alex Lapa's edgy fashion styles online that's why I'm not shocked when I saw her outfit that day! Truly, she's a fashionista by heart.

Fashion Blogger Alex Lapa

She discussed tips and tricks on Fashion Experimentation. We all know that a lot of girls have low self-esteem and lack confidence wearing fashionable clothing items, even if we have the face and the body (yung tipong bagay naman and carry natin yung damit) we sometimes feel awkward and gets conscious on how the outfit goes. I'm guilty of this situation that's why instead of wearing something fashionable, I end up changing my clothes and go back to my comfort zone- wearing plain shirt and jeans.

Fearless fashion inspirations from Alex Lapa
I admire Alex's self-confidence and that's her advice to us if we want to wear something different. There's no formula in Fashion Experimentation. It's all SELF-CONFIDENCE and ACCEPTANCE of who and what we are!

Travel blogger Ms. Prime Sarmiento
Second speaker of the day was the bubbly travel blogger Ms. Prime Sarmiento. The moment she entered the stage and her visuals flashed out the screen I noticed that she's a very brave and independent women. She talked about Travelling Alone As A Woman. I guess, this was the least thing that I'd dare do in my life. I'm not an adventurous person and travelling per se has a lot of pros and cons even if travelling with the family or companions.

But her talked enlightened me and made me realize that in able to conquer our fears we must go out of our comfort zone and travelling alone can make us independent and strong. It doesn't mean that we need to do this one big time but should start step by step. She outlined important points to consider before travelling alone especially to foreign countries we're there's a lot of restrictions and dangers. But armed with proper knowledge, basic skills for survival, money and of course courage- travelling alone as a woman can be self-fulfilling!

A healhty luch for all the Bellas, thanks to Chillis for a hearthy snack
After the two speakers, we had a healthy snacks courtesy of Chillis. It's my first time to eat eggplant balls and it's delicioso! The pasta and mashed potato also made this snack complete so even if I"m still full from the lunch and milk tea that I had before the event, I did not passed on this merienda.

Mr. Rj Palacios chief MUA Benefit Cosmetics Philippines
Another exciting part of the event was the beauty portion. Mr. Rj Palacios of Benefit Philippines introduced their newest addition to the makeup family of Benefit -Watt's Up! It's their newest highlighter that will make the face achieved more glow without the disco ball look. He demonstrated how to use the product and how to do a simple day to night look using Benefit makeups. He did a neutral smokey eyes for day makeup that's not harsh for office look and added some color to make the eyes more dramatic perfect for girls night out.

Ms. Erica Paredes
Another exciting talked came from Ms. Erica Paredes. I was inspired to have the commitment and the state of mind that she have when it comes to health and fitness. She's also a mother like me so it's very important to stay healthy and strong not only for ourselves but also for our family. I listened very carefully to all the important things she said about her journey on fitness. I hope I can do all her advises next year and start the year right by eating clean.

My seatmates: Gina, Aya and Sam
Thank you Gina for the lovely photos
So to wrap the event, here are some selfies with my seatmates that day. Beautiful bloggers inside and out! We share the same passion when it comes to beauty and other stuff and during the event we learned a lot on how to make little things in life a bit different. Even though we're not sure if we can make all the advises that we heard during the event but we know in our hearts that our From Fears we'll take it to Fierce one step at a time :)

  9. I always read about in on other bloggers' blog too and in social networks. "Belle de Jour" is pretty famous but honestly I don't know why! Haha but I've been there, the hype of getting planners until one day, I realized I'm not in for planners because I actually have lots of them..but I suck in making plans. Although I really liked writing in the diary it's also in the past now because I've discovered typing and yes, nowadays there are diary apps and the likes for gadgets.

Thanks for sharing your awesome experience though! It's also timely because it's about time the year end and for sure many girls are looking forward their new BDJ planners!
