Product Review: modest. Skincare Alpha Arbutin + B3 and Cocktail Serum

Saturday, August 15, 2020

Five months of quarantine has brought a couple of ups and downs. I learned to appreciate my body but at the same time hated my skin. Stress and episodes of anxiety resulted in sleepless nights. My body clock also turned the other way around.⁣
My skin has been acting up lately and the last cystic pimple left a mark on my chin. I was worried because it’s noticeable but I’m relieved that I have Modest Skincare products that target specific skin problems. After using Cocktail (A multi-vitamin serum with Hyaluronic Acid) and Alpha Arbutin + B3 (Alpha Arbutin and Vitamin B3-Niacinamide) alternately at night for a month, that nasty dark spot on my chin got lighter, yay!⁣ Sharing my thoughts on both serums that I decided to mix and match last month which aims to lighten dark spots (hello, niacinamide!), brighten the skin, and hydration support for supple skin.

Product Review: Goodal Keratina Anti-Aging Double Serum Light

Monday, December 04, 2017

Taking care of aging skin is not a walk in the park. You have to address different skin care issues in the aging department. Think of wrinkles, premature wrinkles, uneven skin tone, rough and dry texture, sagging skin, sunspots, melasma, and others that need to be taken care of seriously.

I started incorporating anti-aging products into my skin care routine in my early 30's. I've tried a handful of products from cleansers, moisturizers, serums, masks, and eye creams from the local and international brand and I can say that the more religious I apply these products, the more I see the effects. When it comes to hydrating the skin, I only use either moisturizing gel or serum. My current fave is Goodal Keratina Anti-Aging Double Serum Light which I'll be reviewing below :)

Product Review: Fracora WHITE'st Placenta Serum

Wednesday, September 07, 2016

Hello dearies! Sharing with you another review of my recent skin care product. I received a bottle of Fracora WHITE'st Placenta Serum months ago from Cheska's Store Online but did not use it right away because I'm still road testing a moisturizer from a start-up brand. I was intrigued with this serum when I read the description because it says made from 100% concentrated undiluted placenta extract. So basically it's really pure and water like when I peek inside the small bottle.

I almost cringe in my seat to find out that a 30 ml bottle costs Php 2,200. Is this the miracle skin care product that we are looking for? Knowing Japanese standards, they will produce products that are effective even if some are not budget-friendly. To feed my curiosity and to know if this product is worth the price tag, I road-tested it for more than a month by applying the serum religiously day and night. The verdict? See my honest to goodness thoughts below :)
Product Review: Fracora WHITE'st Placenta Serum
Fracora Whitest Placenta Extract Serum (description taken from Cheskas Store Online)

  • Vitamin supplement E, or green herbal tea extract.
  • Placenta serum is usually used topically as a skin restorative.
  • Producers normally declare that placenta serum could help slow and lessen the aging process, that it can enhance immunity, which it could assist basic health and very high power levels.

Use the dropper to get the product. Be careful not to spill a drop or two. There's a line in the dropper as you can see in the photo above. I always pump until it reaches that line and apply what I got on my entire face.
Product Review: Fracora WHITE'st Placenta Serum
I don't have perfect skin. I have large pores cheek and nose area plus my Hori's Nevus
What I like:
  • It's package in a small bottle which is very handy and travel-friendly.
  • Fracora White'st Placenta Serum is made from 100% undiluted placenta so it's pure.
  • The texture- very light because it's like that of water.
  • This water-type serum is easily absorbed once applied.
  • Non-greasy. Not sticky.
  • The glow is really obvious in the morning after waking up.
  • Made my skin soft and smooth to touch.
  • It made my face brighter or should I say lighter and less oily.
  • Batch and manufacturing date printed at the bottom of the packaging.
  • Free from paraben, fragrance, and mineral oil.

What I don't like:
  • The scent- there's a weird scent. A bit fishy for my sensitive nose but I can tolerate it as long as I will not inhale during application.
  • Since the texture is watery, it runs out fast. I always try not to spill a drop or two of this precious serum.
  • Expensive especially for budget conscious individuals or those who have tight budget.
  • Available online.

Will I repurchase?: Maybe.

Recommendation:
I give this product a 4/5 rating. This serum is one of the best skin care products that I have tried to date but it's soo pricey. No breakouts, irritations, or whatsoever because the texture is watery. Still contemplating if I will buy another bottle since I find it so quick to run out. You can see in the photo above that I still have large pores and my Hori's Nevus is till there but lighter based on my observation.

I will recommend this product if you have the budget to splurge and you have sensitive skin. Since the product is made only of three ingredients, I guess the percentage of breakouts and other skin reactions will be low.

What's the most expensive moisturizer, cream, or serum you have tried to date? Share below :)

Product Review: Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Saturday, May 30, 2015

Hi dearies! Weeks ago I accepted Kiehl's Philippines #WokeUpLikeThis challenge. I posted a photo of my bare face on my Instagram account @Kathneko. That photo was taken upon waking up, I can say that my skin was dull and a bit oily. I have a fair skin tone and there are times that I look pale and sickly. I've been searching for a skin care product that will restore moisture and make my skin glow even without makeup. To tell you honestly, I'm shy to show you my bare face photo. Yes, acne and other skin impurities are not visible already because of organic soaps and current skincare routine but the healthy glow is missing.

This product is a cult fave and been raved by beauty bloggers worldwide. It's also in my lemming for the longest time not until Kiehl's Philippines sent me this bottle. I've been using this product for more than two weeks now and I can say the texture of my skin is different and it's glowing when I look in the mirror first thing in the morning! More information about the product below, scroll down please :)

The texture is runny

Here's a photo of moi after 14 days of using Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate every night. No bb cream, face powder, and eyeliner. I used my favorite eyebrow powder to fill in my brows. You can see a more healthy skin, even though I have eyebags I'm not shy to show a selfie of my bare face. I don't have flawless skin. You can still see the freckles on my cheeks. It's all the glow and the radiance that's why I highly recommend this product :)

Product Review: Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate
Selfie no filter :)

What I like:
  • The scent- even though it's herbal-like I can tolerate it. This one smells lavender.
  • Made from natural extracts and beauty oils. See list of ingredients :)
  • A little amount goes a long way, as in a long way. I only need 2-3 drops for my entire face. I think this 30 ml bottle will last for a year!
  • Very handy and travel-friendly bottle.
  • Kiehl's MRC is easily absorbed once applied.
  • Non-greasy and I don't feel the oily texture once the concentrate is absorbed by my skin.
  • There's a soothing and calming effect after application.
  • The glow is really obvious in the morning after waking up.
  • Made my skin soft and smooth to touch.
  • It made my face brighter.
  • Easily accessible.
  • Batch and manufacturing date printed at the bottom of the packaging.
  • Free from paraben, fragrance, and mineral oil.

What I don't like:
  • It gave me a small cystic pimple on my chin.
  • It will be expensive for budget-conscious individuals.

Will I repurchase?: Yes but not for now because this bottle will last me for a year.

Recommendation:
I give this product a 4.25/5 rating. This serum is one of the best skin care products that I have tried to date. Even though it gave me a small cystic pimple on the first 3 days of use, the glowing skin is what I'm aiming for. I can live with one cystic pimple because I know it will heal in the next few days. I have a spot treatment for that so I'll just leave the pimple and concentrate more on what this product is meant for- healthy and glowing skin with fine lines/pre-mature wrinkle eraser on the side.

I've been hearing positive reviews about it even before I started blogging so this one is on my skincare wish list for a very long time as what I've mentioned above. I'm glad that Kiehl's Philippines sent me a full-sized bottle to try. I'm crossing this on my wishlist but will definitely not crossing on my next skincare essentials shopping list :) I highly recommend this product. It's also an anti-aging regimen so if you're on your late 20's, you might need this to start your anti-aging regimen early.

Press Release: L'Oreal Paris Fall Repair 3x

Saturday, July 06, 2013

Many women suffer from hair fall. I experience this problem once in a while and it's really embarrassing. I've tried different shampoos and conditioners but only a few of them actually works. If you experience having fragile hair and occasional hair fall, L'Oreal research has identified 3 major causes of hair fall:
  • Hair Malnutrition- Hair growth is programmed and controlled at the hair roots. When the roots are malnourished, the hair grows without essential nutrients becoming weak and underdeveloped.
  • Root Fragility- Starting at the root, the diameter of the hair fiber is below average, which makes it more likely to break
  • Fiber Damage- Disruption of the hair's cuticle, which acts as a shield for hair, leads to hair being significantly more vulnerable to external aggression.
