Product Review: Davines Nounou Pak Nourishing Repairing Mask

Friday, January 30, 2015

Having color-treated hair is not easy at all. Once the roots start to show, I'm getting conscious because of the uneven color. Aside from this dilemma, I also consider the texture and the state of my hair strands after a month of hair dye application. Color-treated hair are considered 'abused' hair because most of the health-stripping nutrients are found in these chemicals. The more we color our hair, the more it is susceptible to damages like breakage, split-ends, coarseness, dryness and stiffness. Other kinds of after coloring effects may include scalp irritation and hair fall.

I've been sporting color-treated hair for the longest time now. It's been 4 years and sometimes I feel 'naked' when the roots start to show.  My last hair color (Balayage Ombre by Azta Urban Salon) and hair treatment (Oi Oil) were from Davines. Their products are specifically crafted from nature to meet your hair's every need and based from my experience, my hair is still in good shape after the last hair color and treatment I've had. Anyhoo, Davines gave me one of their best-selling hair treatment as a gift last Christmas. I'm so excited to use the product because I've read positive reviews about this hair mask. So without further ado, here's my honest to goodness review of Davines Nounou Pak. The name may sound funny but it's serious in nourishing my hair from roots to tips! Product Review: Moringa-O² Herbal Hair, Scalp and Skin Therapy Oil

Sunday, January 12, 2014

Are you afraid of using oils on your face and body? I guess the answer would be yes and no. We are all afraid of bad oils inside our system because we all know that fats and cholesterol can cause serious illnesses that may lead to death. But fret not because our topic today is about beauty oils :) It's not fatal and it does only good for our skin. Have you tried using beauty oils in your face and body? If yes, I'm sure you've encountered not only one but more than two kinds of beauty oils in the market today. I'm not new to oils because I've tried more than three so far- sunflower, emu and argan oil. From my experience, these three oils are very effective in addressing certain skin and hair problems that's why I'm very excited to try other kinds of beauty oils because I believe that it can make wonders not only for a certain part of the body but from head to toe!

Today, let me introduce you to another miracle oil in a bottle. The Moringa-O2 Herbal Hair, Scalp and Skin Therapy Oil. This product contains not only one beautifying oil but three oils that can heal and prevent skin problems- moringa, olive, and sunflower oil! We all know that moringa/malunggay oil has a lot of skincare benefits, add olive and sunflower oil that's also known to aid skin ailments with regular use.

If you're still skeptical in using beautifying oils in your skin and body here's an excerpt from Ashton Kaidi, MD, co-founder of Marula: The Leakey Collection. "Oils are essential to your skin’s health because they keep your outer protective layer of skin cells together, making you look younger while protecting against future damage,”

So without further ado, here's my honest to goodness review of the product. I'm also proud to tell you that I let my sister use this oil as a treatment for hair fall and she swears that it's effective after three consecutive use. As for my observations, click CONTINUE READING to find out!

Moringa-O² Herbal Hair, Scalp and Skin Therapy Oil is a rare blend of oils from moringa (malunggay), olive and omega (sunflower) oils. These three powerful oils are very rich in anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals. They are natural cleansers, have high emollient properties and are all naturally antiseptic, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory. Together, they cover a wide spectrum of benefits rooted in nature providing a healthier, gentler, and more skin-hair-scalp-compatible from babies to more mature individuals.

Product Review: Soft White Body Scrub Lulur Mandi in Bengkoang

Saturday, July 21, 2012

Hi! I'm back (hopefully) to normal programming :D I want to make a review or an update here everyday maybe 2 to 3 post, whatchatink? Hehehe! But I can't promise you that because I still have mommy duties and my son always watch Cars toy reviews on you tube. If I have all the time in my hands, I will really make more reviews daily. I hope I can maintain one post everyday so that I can still have time commenting on other blogs that I follow. Sometimes, watermarking pictures and editing post takes all of my time and then I left my post unpublished. So on to the review. If you read my post about the allergies that's very annoying and itchy, you will see on the last part of that post this Soft White scrub. My sister gave it to me to test if it's on par with Asian Secrets that I really love. When my allergy has subside, I decided to use the scrub every other day to see the maximum result. I know one tub is not enough compared to nth tubs of Asian Secrets that I emptied but still I saw a bit of difference.

What I also like bout this scrub is the Olive oil because of it's moisturizing properties. I'm a fan of whitening soaps that leaves my skin dry so I need the help of moisturizers. The only downside of this product is it's contents. If you already tried Asian Secrets, you will surely notice upon opening the tub is the heaping scrub. With Soft White, the scrub is only 3/4 of the tub. Now here's my take on Soft White body scrub.
Soft White Body Scrub Lulur Mandi in Bengkoang
SoftWhite Body Scrub with Yam Bean Extract+ Olive Oil for clean and bright skin.
Makes your skin smooth, clean and bright. With natural ingredients to revitalize your skin. The soft scrubs removes dead skin cells and stimulate skin regeneration. The foaming lather rinses completely and great for daily use to provide smooth, soft and radiant skin.
size: 120g

price:  Free (79php =Around $1.80+)

place bought:  Free (Sold at Watson's Health and Beauty Store, Sm Beauty Section)

instruction for use: Apply to dry skin, massage all over your body in circular motions and rinse.  For best result, use it daily as soap substitute.

ingredients: Water, Polyethylene, Stearic Acid, Glycerine, Mineral Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycyrhizza Glabra Extract, Butylene Glycol, Arctostaphylos Uva Ursi Leaf Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum Extract, Morus Alba Root Extract, Pachyrrhizus Erosus Root Extract, Glyceryl Monostearate, Lanolyn Anhydrous, Dimethicone, Triethanolamine, Perfume, Carbomer, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, CI 77891, Methyl Paraben, Tocopheryl Acetate, Propyl Paraben, Tetrasodium Edetat, Allantoin, Butyl Paraben
Soft White Body Scrub Lulur Mandi in Bengkoang
The color and texture is the same as Asian Secrets and Purbasari
but SoftWhite has nude beads for this variant.
(I already use this once before taking the picture)
Soft White Body Scrub Lulur Mandi in Bengkoang
After 3 uses, I emptied the tube in less than a week.

What I like:
  • The price! I know this is same as the small tub of Asian Secrets and Purbasari.
  • Exfoliates really well, I think it's because of the  beads.
  • Has Olive oil that is known for its moisturizing properties.
  • It somehow helped my allergy marks lighten a bit.
  • The scent is okay, a bit comparable to baby powder.
  • Manufacturing, batch and expiry date printed on the tub.
  • Sealed upon opening.
  • Makes my skin smooth and glowing.
What I don't like:
  • The contents, it's not full like Asian Secrets so I emptied the whole tub after 4 uses. I use it  every other day.
Will I repurchase? Yes! It's a great substitute for Asian Secrets Mulberry and Licorice (violet) that's always OOS!

Recommendation:
I give this a 4/5 rating. This scrub will be my alternative if Asian Secrets is OOS again. To avoid contamination use a spatula in scooping out the product. For maximum results you can leave it on your skin for 5-10 mins and as instructed use it everyday. I had a review of SoftWhite  Pink Variant before and I just use that twice a week. With this variant, I wanted to see faster results that's why I brave myself to use it every other day even if my skin is a bit sensitive because of the allergy.

Have you experience lulur scrubs before?Share your thoughts. Stay safe everyone!

Good Times!~

Product Review: Asian Secrets Bengkoang Soap with Olive Oil

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

Hi dearies! How's your day?Mine's a bit stressful because my son is sick. It sucks big time when you see and feel that your loved one is in pain. My son's fever is on and off that's why I need to watch him even when he sleeps. I hope he'll get well soon.

Anyhoo, I will review today another product from Asian Secrets, its the Bengkoang Soap with Olive Oil variant. If you're a follower of my blog, I'm sure you know that I love organic soaps. Organic soaps form All Organics are staples in my skin care regimen. I've been using organic soaps more than a year now that's why I'm a bit hesitant to try other soaps because I know it can cause different kinds of reaction. I've learned that once you've found your HG you must stick to it but the curiosity in me strikes back and telling me to try this soap because of the Bengkoang, same as the Singkamas soap from All Organics that I'm also using and made a review here.

Asian Secrets Bengkoang Indonesian Whitening Soap contains Bengkoang (Yam Bean Extract), a widely popular whitening ingredient in Indonesia that can be found in the islands of Sumatra and Java. It also contains Olive Oil to moisturize skin and protect it from dryness.

Asian Secrets Bengkoang Soap with Olive Oil
size: 100g

price: 70 php (Around $1.60)

place bought: Watson's Health and Beauty Store, Sm Fairview

instructions for use: Use soap to wash face and body. For maximum effect use it everyday.

ingredients: Oleamidoproryl Betaine, Tallow, Stearic Acid, Fragrance, Pachyrrhizus erosus (Yam Bean) Root Extract, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, Titanium Dioxide, Tetrasodium EDTA.

What I like:
  • I think the shape of the soap is unique.
  • Affordable for a 100g soap.
  • The soap is firm and doesn't melt easily.
  • It leaves my skin smooth and moisturized.
  • Manufacturing, batch and expiry date is printed on the box.
What I don't like:
  • I'm not a fan of the scent- reminds me of Irish Spring soaps that has a bit of masculine scent.
  • Haven't seen any whitening or lightening on blemishes that I have.
Will I repurchase? No, I just tried it out of curiosity and because of the raves that Asian Secrets Lulur scrub had.

Recommendation:
I give this a 3.75/5 rating. It does the job well in cleansing without drying your skin. It doesn't melt easily so i think it's a plus factor for those who are on a budget. But again the scent for me is a bit strange. I like fruity and citrus-y scented soaps.

Have you tried Asian Secrets' Soaps? What variant do you prefer? Thanks for sharing!
