Product Review: SoftWhite Body Scrub Lulur Mandi- Licorice Extract+ Natural Whitening Extract

Wednesday, February 01, 2012

I noticed that my addiction to lulur scrub enables me to explore and look for new brands and more variants. From Asian Secrets to Purbasari now comes SoftWhite that based from my experience will also satisfy the skin of those who jumps on the bandwagon. Since Asian Secrets sells like pancake because it's always out of stock, I decided to try another variant and SoftWhite came to rescue!

SoftWhite Body Scrub Lulur Mandi- Licorice Extract+ Natural Whitening Extract
the color and texture is the same as Asian Secrets and Purbasari
but SoftWhite has pink beads for this variant
(will try to make a clearer image for this scrub, my camera is acting up again)
What I like:
  • The price! I know it's cheaper than the smaller tub of Asian Secrets and Purbasari
  • Exfoliates really well, I think it's because of the pink beads
  • The scent is okay, a bit comparable to baby powder
  • Manufacturing, batch and expiry date printed on the tub
  • Sealed upon opening
  • Makes my skin smooth and glowing
What I don't like:
  • The contents, it's not full like Asian Secrets so I emptied the whole tub after 4 uses.
  • Haven't seen any whitening on my blemishes yet
Will I repurchase? Yes! I want to try other variants. Will update this post for other variants with their respective sizes and prices

Recommendation:
I give this a 4/5 rating. This scrub will be my alternative if Asian Secrets is OOS again. To avoid contamination use a spatula in scooping out the product. For maximum results you can leave it on your skin for 5-10 mins and as instructed use it everyday. But I'm afraid this will make my skin more sensitive for everyday use so I use it twice a week.

Have you experience lulur scrubs before?Share your thoughts. Happy Wednesday everyone!

Product Review: Purbasari Lulur Mandi Putih

Saturday, January 14, 2012

When Asian Secrets Lulur Whitening body scrub ran out of stock, I saw another brand in Watson's and it's Purbasari. Asian secrets became a hit to many of us because of its divine smell and affordable price. Since Purbasari is same lulur scrub, I know there will be no difference at all but hey, there's one thing I noticed after using the entire tub of this.

Purbasari Lulur Mandi Putih
Ligthening- Bath Body Scrub
Extra Whitening Extract as Whitening Agent, Squalene and Olive Oil as Moisturizer.
size: 135g

price: 80 php (Around $1.80)

place bought: Watson's Health and Beauty Store, Sm Fairview

instruction for use: As replacement of Bath Soap, scrub it all over your skin while it's dry. The scrubs will remove impurities, dead skin and dirt. Rinse with fresh water. Frequent usage gives maximum effect.

ingredients: Water, Polyetylene, Stearic Acid, Glycerine, White Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycirrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Extract, Butylene Glycol, Arctostaphylos Uva Ursi Leaf Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Extract, Morus Alba Leaf Extract, Glycol Stearate SE, Propylene Glycol, Triethanolamine, Lanolin Anhydrous, Allantoin, Dimethicone, Perfume, Carbomer, Titanium Dioxide (Cl 77891), Methyl Paraben, Na4EDTA, Propyl Paraben, Butyl Paraben.

 Purbasari Lulur Mandi Putih
What I like:
  • The beads are fine so it's gentle in exfoliating.
  • It's cheap! A tub lasts me more than a month. I exfoliate using this once a week.
  • It's creamy and moisturizes my skin. I can see a "glow" after using this.
  • There's a batch, manufacture and expiration date printed at the bottom of the tub.
  • Hypo-allergenic and dermatologically tested.
What I don't like:
  • The SMELL! It's too overpowering for me, I can't describe. As in I don't know. I can't breathe.
  • The packaging! It is unsanitary to dip your fingers inside the tub.
  • I didn't see any whitening on the part that I use it. Maybe I need to use this 2-3 times a week on that area to see the whitening result.
Will I repurchase? No! I like Asian Secrets way better than this.

Recommendation:
I give this a 3/5 rating. It does the exfoliating job like Asian Secrets do but I can't take the smell of this. I don't have sensitive nose but with this I think I'm going to vomit inside the bathroom. Sorry for the word but it's my honest experience with this scrub.

Have you tried this Purbasari Scrub?Share your thoughts! Have a great weekend ahead

Product Review: Asian Secrets Lulur Whitening Indonesian Body Scrub

Wednesday, December 07, 2011

Hi dearies! Before anything else, I would like to apologize for being MIA because I'm dealing with personal matters with my family. I'm still alive and kicking! May God always guide me and give me strength in all the obstacles I'm going through.

Sorry for being a bit emo here. Let's start the review! I'm a bit hesitant if I will make a comprehensive review on this body scrub. I'm sure you can read a lot of good reviews on this product. This product is highly rave in different forums and regarded as one of beauty must haves. This is not my first time using this body scrub. I already tried the first Asian Secrets Lulur in green tub. I can't say that it's not effective since I'm not using it religiously. So when I saw this new variant of Asian Secrets Lulur Body Scrub at Watson's, I read the label and saw the ingredients like Licorice and Mulberry Leaf Extract. These two ingredients made me gave this product another try.
Asian Secrets Lulur Whitening Indonesian Body Scrub
Asian Secrets Lulur Indonesian Whitening Body Scrub is a beauty treatment which originated from the royal palaces of Java, Indonesia and inspired by a ritual called lulur. Lulur was originally intended for the bride-to-be in order to beautify, smoothen and whiten her skin before the wedding day. The benefits of Asian Secrets Lulur Indonesian Whitening Body Scrub are:- Lulur beads gently exfoliate and remove dead skin cells to smoothen and give it a radiant glow.- Frequent usage reduces skin pigmentation and evens out skin tone by getting rid of dark patches, especially in areas prone to darkening like the elbows, knees, armpits and the area between the thighs.- Contains Licorice and Mulberry Leaf Extract to help whiten skin.- It also moisturizes and leaves skin with a light fragrant scent.

Product Review: A Bonne Spa White C Salt

Saturday, November 26, 2011

Hi dearies! I noticed that I'm soooo lazy these past few days and have long due posts waiting to be published. Methinks it's time to start reviewing on skin care products again. If you're a reader of my blog since August, prolly you'll know that most of my product review have been tried and tested by yours truly for more than a year. I think this time span is long enough to prove the effectiveness of one product. So now I'll share with you another great and cheap, should I say dirt cheap but so effective product.
Introducing *drum roll please* A Bonne' Spa White C Salt. This product is composed of fine-grained spa salt enriched with milk protein. This is an all-in-one skin treatment without causing irritation, it gently removes grime, sweat and pollutants from skin pores which cause body odor and reveals white, smooth and younger-looking skin. Scrubbing will improve blood circulation, giving your skin a healthy glow right after use.

It contains MILK PROTEIN that helps skin to retain moisture, prevent dryness and roughness, giving skin lasting radiance and LEMON and PAPAYA extract to lighten tone, giving it a fairer and more radiant look.

size: 350g

price: 67.50php (Around $1.55)

place bought: Watson's Health and Beauty Store Sm Fairview

instruction for use: Pour spa salt on your palm and scrub gently on wet skin using circular movement. Leave it on for 3 minutes and rinse off with water. Continue your shower routine.

ingredients: Sodium Chloride, Bentonite, Kaolin, Dermawhite, Allantoin, Milk Protein, Lemon Extract, Papaya Extract

What I like:
  • The scent is citrusy with a hint of papaya that smells good and not overpowering.
  • Really does the job in exfoliating the skin. I see a glowing effect after use.
  • Skin feels soft after scrubbing. There's also suppleness and no need for lotion.
  • The price is really cheap!
  • There's a batch number, expiration date printed on the package.
What I don't like:
  • The scent doesn't last long on my skin.
  • The grains may hurt if you rub it directly on dry skin.
Will I repurchase? Yes! This is a staple in my bathroom.

Recommendation:
I give this a 5/5 rating.  It's my HG body scrub. I really love this even though sometimes I get hurt because I scrub too much and put a lot of pressure on my hand while scrubbing. I love how it  really exfoliates my skin and I really can see the "libag" as what we call in dead skin in Filipino. If you want to have a gentle exfoliation, you can mix the scrub with bath or shower gels before scrubbing. I exfoliate 2 or 3 times a week only. I alternate this with Asian Secrets Lulur body scrub.

Do you exfoliate during your bath time? What body scrubs do you prefer? Thanks for sharing!

   Good Times!~
