Reigning PVL On Tour Champions PLDT High Speed Hitters Return Recharged for the 2026 Preseason

Sunday, June 28, 2026

After earning a hard-fought bronze finish in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference, the franchise's first-ever regular season podium finish, the PLDT High Speed Hitters finally hit pause. The milestone was worth celebrating, but before shifting their focus to another title defense at the PVL On Tour 2026, the team first embraced something equally important: rest.

Recovery Beyond the Court

Months of intense training and competition demanded more than physical recovery. For the High Speed Hitters, the offseason became a chance to recharge mentally, reconnect with loved ones, and return with renewed motivation. Head coach Rald Ricafort believes recovery is just as essential as training.
We highly prioritize the balance between the work that we put in since the preseason and the rest needed after every conference," he shared.
Away from volleyball, Ricafort keeps active through pickleball and tennis but also enjoys quiet days at home catching up on international volleyball trends. He's even planning to stream One Piece on Netflix during his downtime.

The players each have their own way of resetting.Veteran setter Kim Fajardo uses the break to reflect and recharge emotionally. "It's a time for self-realization," she said.

When she's not spending time with family, she enjoys watching travel documentaries, with Somebody Feed Phil currently on her list. Outside hitter Kiesha Bedonia focuses on restoring both body and mind. "We need to prioritize sleep and do light movements like walking and stretching." She also finds inspiration in rewatching One Piece, admiring the loyalty and personalities of its beloved characters.

For opposite hitter Jessey De Leon, who also works as an architect, creativity plays an important role in recovery. "I really enjoy doing creative work whenever I feel inspired it helps me reset and feel like myself again outside of the sport."

Between architecture projects, spending time with her nieces and nephews, and the occasional "bed-rotting" session while binge-watching Better Call Saul, De Leon makes the most of the offseason.

A Refreshed Roster for a New Challenge

With recovery complete, the High Speed Hitters now turn their attention to defending the PVL On Tour crown they captured last season with an undefeated championship run.

The team also welcomes several new faces expected to strengthen an already competitive lineup. Leading the newcomers is opposite spiker Jessa Ordiales, who brings additional firepower to Coach Ricafort's offense.
Transitioning to a new team is exciting, but I've learned that the best way to get ready for the next challenge is to truly unplug at home," Ordiales shared. "Good food, family time, and catching up on the series I missed during the season help me recharge."
Joining her is rookie setter Fianne Ariola, the eighth overall pick in the first round of the 2026 PVL Rookie Draft after an impressive collegiate career with the Perpetual Lady Altas. "Recovery for me right now is all about staying relaxed, binge-watching my favorite shows, and mentally preparing for the work ahead," Ariola said.

Former Lady Altas standout Winnie BedaƱa also begins a new chapter with PLDT after previously suiting up for the Galeries Tower Highrisers. "Joining PLDT is an opportunity I'm truly grateful for. I'm excited to learn from my teammates and contribute in any way I can."

Rounding out the team's offseason additions is former University of the Philippines captain Joan Monares, whose leadership and versatility are expected to boost the High Speed Hitters' wing attack. "Stepping into the pro ranks with a team as competitive as PLDT is a dream come true," Monares said. "Resting, listening to music, and spending time with family help me clear my mind so I can give my best every time I step on the court."

Ready for Another Title Run

The team also bids farewell to setter Anj Legacion and middle blocker Zeth Perolino, but the core remains firmly intact.

With seasoned leaders like Kath Arado, Savi Davison, Mika Reyes, Majoy Baron, Kim Kianna Dy, and the rest of the veteran core guiding a promising mix of new talent, the High Speed Hitters are entering the 2026 preseason with renewed energy and bigger ambitions.

As the defending PVL On Tour champions prepare for another campaign, PLDT looks determined to prove that sometimes, the strongest comeback begins with taking time to rest. Fans can catch every spike, save, and celebration throughout the PVL On Tour 2026 and follow the PLDT High Speed Hitters on social media for the latest team updates.
