Finally the long wait is over! Yoshinoya Fairview Terraces is now open to serve you with the best beef bowls in town. I was very giddy when Ms. Cha of Travel on a Shoestring Budget invited me to the opening of my fave Japanese restaurant. To tell you honestly, I've only been to three Japanese restaurants in the metro to date and I rate Yoshinoya as the best among the rest because of the delectable taste and price of their dishes. I know most of us love Japanese food and Yoshinoya is the best place to dine if your craving for authentic Japanese cuisine :) I love Japanese food and when I've tried Yoshinoya years ago when they opened their first branch at Sm North Edsa, I frequently dine there after school. For those of you who haven't tried eating at Yoshinoya, here's a little info about them and prepare your eyes for sumptuous Japanese dishes at affordable prices after the jump! Click CONTINUE READING to find out their menu offerings :)

Yoshinoya was born in 1899 under the ingenuity of its founder, a Japanese, named Eikichi Matsuda. Our story begins at Nihonbashi, a humble fish market in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, on the outskirts of Edo Castle where Mr. Matsuda created a delicious recipe of beef and rice known as Gyudon (beef bowl).

Named for his birthplace of Yoshino-Cho, Osaka, Mr. Matsuda’s restaurant featured delicious, affordable and fast meals. It was an entirely new concept in Japanese culture, and both the hard-working fisherman and market visitors embraced it. Yoshinoya was an instant hit. In 1923, Japan was hit by the Great Kanto Earthquake and Yoshinoya had to move to Tsukiji with the rest of the fish market and throngs of hungry patrons continued to enjoy Yoshinoya’s original gyÅ«don, or Beef Bowl.

In 1946, Mizuho Matsuda, son of Eikichi Matsuda, turned the business into a 24-hour restaurant and rapidly gained wide spread popularity in Japan. In 1958, it became a corporate company operating on a chain store system. Yoshinoya boasts of more than 100 years of tradition. Yoshinoya has grown to be one of the most important brands in Japan and boasts of more than 1,000 outlets, making it one of the biggest fast-food chains in Japan. To date, there are more than 1200 outlets around the world, namely Japan, USA, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia and the Philippines. Soon, it will open in Thailand and Vietnam as part of its expansion program in the Asian region.

The opening/blessing day was a blast. After the press, bloggers and guests went inside the store, customers were giddy to try their menu offerings. There's a long qeue of customers outside waiting to be seated. Aside from the delicious and budget friendly dishes, they offered different kinds of promos for orders on the opening day like free umbrella, free photo souvenir and free power meal. So enough with the blabber, let me share with you Yoshinoya's famous beef bowl-gyudon that was served to all the guests. There are 4 variants of Yoshinoya Beef Bowls to choose from. There's the original beef bowl, Veggie beef, Beef Misono and Beef Yakiniku. My fave is the original beef bowl. What you see is what you get! Generous servings of gyudon that is simmered in a mildly sweet sauce with onions on top of white rice. The beef stip loin is very tender and juicy.

Here's another variant of beef bowl and this is called Beef Misono. I wasn't able taste it because this bowl belongs to our seatmate. He allowed us to take a photo of it though. From this view, I can say that this is the mildly salty and savory version of gyudon.

They also served us their Ramen. They have four flavors for this: Beef Ramen, Chicken Ramen, Ebi Ramen and Chasu Ramen. I'm surprised that their ramen doesn't look oily unlike the ramen from competition that I always see on my instagram account. I'm not expecting too much from this food since the price is very affordable but when I sipped the soup, rich flavors burst into my mouth. Definitely became an instant fave from Yoshinoya's menu!

Yoshinoya also have bento boxes or budget friendly meals that's served with side dishes and a dessert. It's a complete meal in a very affordable price. They have four variants to choose from: Ebi Tempura, Mixed Tempura, Pork Tonkatsu and Japanese Fried Chicken. I believe that the bento served to us was Chicken Karaage. I also like the side dishes for this set like the shredded cabbage and the beet salad. The tiramisu was heavenly. I don't know but after eating a portion of this, I came back the next day and ordered two slices. Sweet tooth much? Hahaha!

While enjoying the food, Congressman Alfred Vargas arrived. He's a regular customer of Yoshinoya. Since I wasn't able to take a close up shot of Mr. Timothy Yang and Congressman Vargas, I just took this stolen shot. Pardon for my blurry photo, paparazzi moment here :)
