Product Review: Kerastase Cristalliste Bain Cristal Luminous Perfecting Shampoo

Tuesday, October 15, 2013

I pay more attention when it comes to hair care now than before. My hair was very low maintenance before because all it takes to complete my hair care routine every day includes shampoo and conditioner. I don't apply serums and I don't blow dry my hair. I just let it dry naturally and after combing I'm good to go. But as time pass by consider the age factor and numerous chemical treatments that I've gone through, my hair strands became weak and brittle. I have thin limp hair to begin with and it's easily prone to dullness and breakage. The worst thing that happened to my locks was major major hair fall. To address these issues, I change shampoo and conditioner every month- some lessened the hair fall while others make it worst. I already found my HG shampoo with Pure Beauty Tsubaki Treatment Shampoo and Botanique Spa Morocco Argan Oil Shampoo but there are times that my hair still needs extra care and shine. With so many brands of commercial and organic shampoos in the market today, it's very hard to choose which one to try first as most of them promises good results. What my hair needs now is shine! My digi-permed hair will turn three months old this coming November that's why the curls are not that shiny anymore. Thank goodness that Kerastase is here to rescue.

To tell you honestly, I'm not planning to use this shampoo because I was very much contended with the current shampoo that I'm using. I was planning to repurchase another bottle of Botanique Spa shampoo earlier this month but I decided to give this variant a try. If you'll ask me why I veered away from this varaint without trying it first, then the answer would probably my first experience with another variant of Kerastase shampoo- the Reflection Bain Chroma Riche. I had a not so good experience with the first variant of shampoo that I've tried from Kerastase but with this one, that impression vanished! It made me think again that all shampoo variants were created with a purpose and that purpose should serve us well. So do you think this shampoo made a yay or a nay? Product Review: COSMO Skin GSE (Grape Seed Extract)

Taking care of our skin is not as easy as one, two, three. We need to look for skin care products that will give us positive results for a long period of time. I don't have flawless skin and my skin tend's to act up every time I change my skin care routine. I have sensitive skin which is 80% hormonal and I already tried almost all commercial brands from the cheapest up to high-end ones. The worst state of my skin was during college years and after giving birth. Would you believe me if I tell you that I once go to facial salons every week for cleaning? Yes, if my memory serves me right that was twelve years ago. During that time, my only hope to temporarily stop my breakouts was through facial cleaning and pricking- Ouch! I know :( Even if my parents told me to stop because nothing good really happened to my skin, I still persisted and to tell you honestly I've wasted my time, money and effort because after a year, nothing really had changed.

Fast forward, my skin literally stopped from breaking out after college graduation. I don't know what happened but it just stopped like that. I'm so happy that I don't have to think about it again and again until I become so depressed with my pimples, whiteheads and blackheads. What I remember was I use the same skin care products day and night and observe proper hygiene meaning no popping of pimples and I avoided touching my face every now and then. But another sad story happened to my skin when I became pregnant, zits started to appear all over my face again, this time I'm really sure that it was hormonal and I cannot treat it with commercial brands because I'm conceiving. This time I resorted to natural and organic soaps to address my skin care problems and voila! Until now, natural and organic products became my skin's bestest friend.

Don't think that I have clear skin now, yes it's 80% clear from major breakouts but there are times that even if I use the products that made my skin better, chances are I still suffer from cystic acne, blackheads and whiteheads because of my hormones. Lets also add another factor, my age. I'm on my early 30's now so anti-aging products tops my list when it comes to skin care. So after reading forums and had a little bit of research, I considered taking skin care supplements that will help restore my skin's radiance and give my pale white skin some glow that it needs even without makeup. If you'll ask me why I resorted to taking skin care supplements, then my answer is that I believe in taking care of our body/skin inside and out. Product Review: Artist Studio Angled Flat Top Brush

Hi everyone! How's your weekend? Hope you had a great time with your family and friends. This blog is celebrating it's 2nd Year Anniversary and I prepared a giveaway for all of you. If you're a new reader, you can still join here: Dear Kitty Kittie Kath's 2nd Year Anniversary Giveaway!!! Anyhoo, lets start the week right and overcome the laziness that we usually feel during the first day of the week with a review! This review is another milestone for me because if you noticed, I seldom review makeup brushes and other makeup tools. For the reasons that I only have three makeup brushes as of the moment, the Landmark Retractable Kabuki Brush and the Artist Studio Eyeliner Brush and the Angled Flat Top Brush that we're going to talk about right now. Since I still consider myself a "not so newbie" in the world of makeup (sorry for the lack of term), I don't buy tools that I know will just sit on my makeup stash. What I have now are the brushes that I often use like the ones that I mentioned above. Before I bough this brush, I think more than thrice if I'm going to use this or not since I use my fingers to apply liquid foundation and bb cream. But because beauty bloggers gave positive reviews about the Artist Studio Brush Line from the Landmark (Makati and Trinoma), I gave in to the temptation of buying one for myself and considered this as my handy dandy blush brush :)

To tell you honestly, I haven't tried using this brush on liquid or powder foundation and bb cream. I use this to apply my current blush, E.L.F. Blush in Flushed. The brush works! It's easy to use, picks up the right amount of product and doesn't scratch my skin. Want to know more about my thoughts? Click CONTINUE READING to read more!

Artist Studio Flat Top Brush
What I Like:
  • Really affordable Cheap!
  • The appearance looks classy and nice.
  • It's versatile- can be used to apply liquid and powder foundation and powder blush.
  • No weird smell.
  • It's very soft and dense.
  • Easy to wash and dry.
  • No shedding while washing.
  • Easily accessible.
What I don't like:
  • None
Will I repurchase? Yes! I want to buy all the brushes from this brand ^_^

Recommendation:
Since this is my first flat top brush/ angled flat top brush, I will not give it a rating yet. I need to buy the same kind of brush from another brand so that I can give a comparison and make a good rating from both. But my overall experience from using and cleaning the brush is good. So to all the newbie makeup enthusiasts, aspiring makeup artists and cheapskates like me, I highly recommend this brush. The product performs the job and if you think it doesn't pass your standards, no need to worry since the price is cheap and you can replace it anytime- but I think you won't :)

Have you tried these tools from Artist Studio line? Thank you for sharing your experience!

Good Times!~

Product Review: Be Organic Papaya Bearberry Soap

Hello dearies! Have you joined my 2nd Year Anniversary Giveaway yet? If not join HERE! I’m very excited to share this review because it’s one of the organic brands in the market today that offers promising natural products for the hair, skin, face and body. I already reviewed one of their soap- The Papaya Kojic and I highly recommend this organic whitening soap for individuals with sensitive skin. If you missed the review just click HERE. Now I’m going to share my thoughts on another variant of soap from Be Organic Bath and Body, this time it’s their whitening and anti-aging soap- The Papaya Bearberry. Does one of the ingredients sound new to you? I guess you’ll answer yes. Actually the bearberry is not that new to me, I already tried another brand of soap with bearberry extract but it is combined with other fruit extracts too. This time it’s combined only with Papaya so the combination is new to me. What exactly is Bearberry extract?
Bearberry extract is made from the leaves of the bearberry plant. It is commonly used as an astringent in cosmetic preparations and skin care products. Astringents are cleansers that remove dirt and oil from the skin's pores. It is also used as a lightening agent to fade freckles or skin discoloration which may be caused by sun damage or hormonal conditions.
And because I’m already 30 years old, I give more importance to anti-aging. I’m already fair to begin with so it’s less of importance for me to get fairer, just even skin tone will do. This variant of soap is another lemming from the brand because when I saw it at Sesou I told myself to buy it next time I'll visit the store. But to my surprise Ms. Cheryl of Be Organic Bath and Body send samples of their products. I'm one happy kid! The moment I received the package, I opened the soap and used it right away. Excited to know my experience about the soap? Here it is, my honest to goodness review of Be Organic Papaya Bearberry Soap
