Product Review: Kojie San kontur Cellulite Control Soap

Sunday, August 25, 2013

This review has been sitting on my blog bin for more than 6 months now. I totally forgot about this soap from Kojie San. When I bough this soap last February, I told my self to keep this as a secret. I'm a bit shy to tell my friends that I'm using a soap to reduce the appearance of my cellulites. I presume everyone knows what cellulite is? Well, according to Medical News Today:
Cellulite is a condition in which the skin appears to have areas with underlying fat deposits, giving it a dimpled, lumpy appearance. It is most noticeable on the buttocks and thighs, and usually occurs after puberty.
Cellulite is also known as adiposis edematosa, dermopanniculosis deformans, status protrusus cutis, and gynoid lipodystrophy in the medical field and as orange peel syndrome, cottage cheese skin, hail damage, and the mattress phenomenon in colloquial language.
Cellulite is often classified using three grades:Grade 1 cellulite sees no clinical symptoms, but a microscopic examination of cells from the area detects underlying anatomical changes.Grade 2 cellulite requires the skin to show pallor (pastiness), be lower temperature, and have decreased elasticity, in addition to anatomical changes noted by microscopic examinations.Grade 3 cellulite has visible roughness of the skin (like an orange peel) along with all grade 2 signs.Although cellulite can affect both sexes, it is much more common in females, mainly because they are more likely to have particular types of fat and connective tissue.
What causes cellulite? The causes of cellulite are not well understood, but there are several theories that have been put forth as explanations. Among these are:
  • Hormonal factors - hormones likely play an important role in cellulite development. Many believe estrogen, insulin, noradrenaline, thyroid hormones, and prolactin are part of the cellulite production process.
  • Genetics - certain genes are required for cellulite development. Genes may predispose an individual to particular characteristics associated with cellulite, such as gender, race, slow metabolism, distribution of fat just underneath the skin, and circulatory insufficiency.
  • Diet - people who eat too much fat, carbohydrates, or salt and too little fiber are likely to have greater amounts of cellulite.
  • Lifestyle factors - cellulite may be more prevalent in smokers, those who do not exercise, and those who sit or stand in one position for long periods of time.
  • Clothing - underwear with tight elastic across the buttocks (limiting blood flow) may contribute to the formation of cellulite.

OOTD: Pahiyas Festival

Saturday, August 24, 2013

Here's a super late OOTD post. I was emptying my recycle bin yesterday and saw these outfit photos from our summer vacation at Lucban, Quezon. We stayed there for three days and luckily was able to celebrate one of the grandest festival in our country- The Pahiyas Festival. Have you seen colorful leaf shape decorations on television ads or from random things? Those leaf shape designs are called Kiping. It's made of malagkit/sticky rice and shaped into leaves symbolizing bountiful harvest. Pahiyas Festival is celebrated every 14th of May in honor of St. Isidore for giving farmers rich and bounty harvest throughout the year.

Since it's summer, I opted to wear something very light and comfortable from head to toe! And because the highlight of the celebration was to roam around the town to see houses decorated with colorful and awesome kipings, I decided to wear my super comfy sandals.

Product Review: SOPHIA Eyelash Enhancer by Virginia Olsen

Tuesday, August 20, 2013

SOPHIA Eyelash Enhancer by Virginia Olsen is one of the best gifts that I've received this year. We all want to have luscious, thicker and fuller lashes, right? I'm one of those girls who weren't blessed to have a semi-doll like or doll like lashes. Having thin, sparse and short lashes makes my eyes look expressionless. As always, my last resort to add oomph and drama to my lashes would be mascaras. I never use falsies on a daily basis and haven't experienced eyelash extensions just to make my lashes look primped. For me, both are time consuming and having lash extensions requires time and effort to go to salons and a very expensive to maintenance. So when this baby arrived on our doorsteps last May, it's like a dream come true!

I'm sure you've read beauty bloggers thoughts and heard you tube gurus shared their insights about SOPHIA Eyelash Enhancer. I've also seen three reviews from BDJ Box Beauty Ministry and all of the ladies who used the product saw significant results after two months of using it religiously at night. I started using the product last May 18 and ended August 01, 2013. I apply it religiously every night, consuming one bottle for an approximate of 2 months and a half. So before I share my review, here are important information about the product.
