Sunday, June 24, 2012

Yay! I'm thinking of having another giveaway on my 100th follower. Thank you so much for the support! More product reviews on organic skin care and random stuffs are in line so watch out for it. For the mean time, I will just make a short review about  Epionce. This product came from the birthday blog sale giveaway that I joined last January. I already finished the Epionce Renewal Facial Lotion and it's just a sample size (15ml) which has around 30% product left on the tube when I received. I wasn't able to see if the product helped me in renewing the surface of my skin. My skin condition: Oily T-zones, large pores, dark marks from pimples and freckles on both cheeks.
WHO IT'S FORIdeal for all skin types, especially combination-oily and aging, who want comfortable, smooth skin.

KEY INGREDIENTS
Meadowfoam and Flax Seed Complex is anti-inflammatory. Apple Fruit Extract lightens and brightens. Rose Hip, Safflower, and Avocado Complex softens and smooths.

product info taken from: http://skincarerx.com/Epionce-Renewal-Facial-Lotion.html
  • The product has this scent that I cannot describe but I can tolerate it.
  • A pea size is enough to spread over my entire face.
  • It's sticky and leaves my face with a shine that looks like I just rubbed a baby oil on my face.
  • Since this is just a sample product, I wasn't able to gauge the effect on my skin.
  • I use this every night for two weeks and gave me a glow on my face the next day.
  • No product information, again this is a sample product.
  • Will probably not purchase a full-sized one, I know this type of facial lotion is expensive.

But I'm happy that I bought this so now I know what's the feeling of using expensive face creams. I'm not ready to splurge, maybe in the near future where I need to invest on anti-aging creams, serums, etc.

What's the most expensive skin care product you've tried? Share!

Product Review: Mosbeau All-in-One Face Cream

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

Hi lovelies! It's back to school once again. I'm guessing that malls will have their sale before school begins. I miss going to school :( I can still remember my cramming experience when buying school supplies and new set of stuffs. We always bumped into different people having the same dilemma as mine. Shoe sizes that's always out of stock, designs that were almost fading because it's the only one left, and so on and so forth. Those were the crazy back to school days fever. So before we bid goodbye to May, I will make a review of another skin care that I won from a giveaway.

This product came from Mosbeau and it's one of AskMeWhats grand giveaway last December. Five long months have passed, this is enough for me to gauge how did the product fare with my skin. Prolly you know that I made a post on Mosbeau here after a month of usage. I didn't see any significant changes on my skin particularly on my freckles and uneven tone that's why I continued using this mositurizing gel but there's a doubt on my mind already. Shall we start the review now? This will be my honest to goodness take on Mosbeau All-in-One Facial Cream, the one being endorsed by Angel Locsin.

I tend to stay away from heavy creams on my face because it makes my skin oilier. When I discovered GNC Vitamin C Moisturizing Cream I said to myself that I will not dare look for another face cream until Mosbeau came but I have this love-hate relationship when I won the price because I'm afraid that using another product means starting back at one. Being a cheapskate, I will not spend over a thousand bucks just to try out a new product. With fingers crossed I just said to myself Okay, since this is free why not give it a try.
Mosbeau All-in-One Face Cream
I like the touch of gold on this tub, very classy :)
Experience the combined effect of anti-aging serum, moisturizer, and skin-whitening cream with this breakthrough all-in-one facial cream from Mosbeau! Enriched with-all natural and reconized skin-whitening ingredients in Japan like Placental Protein and Beta Arbutin, it helps make your skin radiant and fair. Loaded with moisturizing herb extracts, it also helps and nourish and hydrate the skin to make it feel velvety soft and smooth after every application. Now you can enjoy skin-whitening, moisturizing, anti-aging, and UV protection in just one, easy step!
Mosbeau All-in-One Face Cream
After 4 months of using this religiously every morning, only a few is left on the tub.

price: SRP at 1,480** php ( Around $ 34.30+ )

place bought: free, giveaway prize
Watson's, Mercury Drugstore, South Star Drug, Rose Pharmacy and PCX

instruction for use: After washing face, lightly pat dry face leaving the skin still a bit damp. Scoop an ample amount of cream and massage all over your face and neck using an upward, circular motion.

ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Squalene, Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Dipotassium, Glycyrrhizate, Sodium Hydroxide, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Ubiquinone, Placental Protein, Beta Arbutin, Hydrolyzed Conchiolin Protein, Sericin, Algae Extract, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Lamium Album Flower Extract, Nasturtium Officinale Extract, Arctium Lappa Root Extract, Pinus Sylvestris Cone Extract, Hedera Helix (Ivy) Extract, Allium Sativum (Garlic) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract, Beeswax, 1,2-Hexanediol, Behenyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Magnesium, Ascorbyl Phosphate, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil

Mosbeau All-in-One Face Cream
Gel type moisturizer that leaves a light and cool feel on my face.

What I like:

  • The packaging is very classy and it has a top plastic lid that's been a product saver for me when I accidentally drop the tub.
  • I like the scent, light and not overpowering.
  • The watery gel-cream formulation leaves a light feeling on my face.
  • Smooth to apply that's easily absorbed by the skin.
  • Not oily, not sticky and non-greasy. Can be used as a makeup base.
  • Free of Parabens and Dimethicone.
  • Brightens my face and it helped me lightened my post acne marks.
  • For the price, its fairly reasonable for a 70g product that lasts me about 4 months. Do the math :p
  • Boasts 70g of product compared to other brands that contain only 50g.
  • There's a batch, manufacturing and expiry date printed on the box.

What I don't like:

  • Even though I like the packaging, I still find it bulky so I need to transfer it in another container for travelling.
  • No major changes on my freckles and skin tone. I'm already fair to start with so I guess ladies with medium tone will see some improvement on their skin specially on whitening department.
  • This jar/tub type of packaging is unhygienic since you have to scoop out the product and using your fingers will contaminate it.
  • I don't know how much SPF is in it, I wish there's a 15 or 30 SPF even if they included Sericin as UVA/UVB blocker in their ingredients list.

Will I repurchase? Yes! Not for lightening/ whitening part but as a moisturizer and an anti-aging product. Maybe if I have an extra money and is not itching to try other moisturizer in the market.

Recommendation:
I give this a 4/5 rating. Now I'm almost done with this, I just want to share a few things about the product. Even though they labeled this as an all-in-one face cream, you still have to use a separate sunblock prior to sun exposure. Don't expect this cream to produce miracle overnight. Patience is a virtue and consistency is the key. You have to use this religiously to see your desired results. This cream is sold with the peeling soap so it's best to use them in pair if you want drastic changes to which I will tell on another post. Always do a patch test for allergies. You will see some herbal ingredients on the list and I know some people allergic even to natural and organic products. They too can cause allergic reactions. Being organic doesn't mean it's safe for everybody. I'm not saying that this cream is organic, it just contain some natural ingredients.

Whew! Another long post and detailed review. I hope this may somehow fed your curiosity about Mosbeau. I know a lot of girls wanted to try this and include in their skin care regimen but they're afraid of wasting their time, effort and money if bad reactions occur. I will also make a comprehensive review on Mosbeau soap this week so stay tuned ladies!

Have you tried any Mosbeau products? What's your experience with it?Thanks for sharing!

Product Review: Asian Secrets Bengkoang Soap with Olive Oil

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

Hi dearies! How's your day?Mine's a bit stressful because my son is sick. It sucks big time when you see and feel that your loved one is in pain. My son's fever is on and off that's why I need to watch him even when he sleeps. I hope he'll get well soon.

Anyhoo, I will review today another product from Asian Secrets, its the Bengkoang Soap with Olive Oil variant. If you're a follower of my blog, I'm sure you know that I love organic soaps. Organic soaps form All Organics are staples in my skin care regimen. I've been using organic soaps more than a year now that's why I'm a bit hesitant to try other soaps because I know it can cause different kinds of reaction. I've learned that once you've found your HG you must stick to it but the curiosity in me strikes back and telling me to try this soap because of the Bengkoang, same as the Singkamas soap from All Organics that I'm also using and made a review here.

Asian Secrets Bengkoang Indonesian Whitening Soap contains Bengkoang (Yam Bean Extract), a widely popular whitening ingredient in Indonesia that can be found in the islands of Sumatra and Java. It also contains Olive Oil to moisturize skin and protect it from dryness.

Asian Secrets Bengkoang Soap with Olive Oil
size: 100g

price: 70 php (Around $1.60)

place bought: Watson's Health and Beauty Store, Sm Fairview

instructions for use: Use soap to wash face and body. For maximum effect use it everyday.

ingredients: Oleamidoproryl Betaine, Tallow, Stearic Acid, Fragrance, Pachyrrhizus erosus (Yam Bean) Root Extract, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, Titanium Dioxide, Tetrasodium EDTA.

What I like:
  • I think the shape of the soap is unique.
  • Affordable for a 100g soap.
  • The soap is firm and doesn't melt easily.
  • It leaves my skin smooth and moisturized.
  • Manufacturing, batch and expiry date is printed on the box.
What I don't like:
  • I'm not a fan of the scent- reminds me of Irish Spring soaps that has a bit of masculine scent.
  • Haven't seen any whitening or lightening on blemishes that I have.
Will I repurchase? No, I just tried it out of curiosity and because of the raves that Asian Secrets Lulur scrub had.

Recommendation:
I give this a 3.75/5 rating. It does the job well in cleansing without drying your skin. It doesn't melt easily so i think it's a plus factor for those who are on a budget. But again the scent for me is a bit strange. I like fruity and citrus-y scented soaps.

Have you tried Asian Secrets' Soaps? What variant do you prefer? Thanks for sharing!

Product Review: Glysolid Glycerin Cream

Thursday, December 22, 2011

Hi everyone! I've been very busy this week buying gifts for my relatives and looking for new stuff for my son. I know I have long due posts and product reviews waiting to be published and this holiday rush is stressing me out. I really freaked out when I go outside and the weather is scourging  hot. Our humid weather made me dizzy and nauseous whenever I ride public transportation but I have no choice since malls and tiangges opens in the morning and will be super crowded in the afternoon until closing time in the evening. This shopping thing made me wear very comfy clothes and foot wear. I just wear flip-flops and walked more than four to five hours looking for gifts and new stuffs. To cut the story short, walking with flip-flops on a hot afternoon gave me cracked heels. It's really painful but I know there will be an easy way to make them heal fast!

Introducing Glysolid Glycerin Cream- Smoothes, Softens and Protects!

Product Review: GNC Vitamin C Moisturizing Cream

Monday, September 26, 2011

Hello everyone! How's your day? Well, I'm good but I'm a bit lazy to make another review from organic products that I've been using. So I'll just make a short review on one of my HG moisturizer. When I say HG (holy grail), I mean that I'm using the product for more than 3 months now and my skin loves it.

GNC Vitamin C Moisturizing Cream

image from GNC
Some of us don't follow the basic step in skin care routine- the cleanse-tone-moisturize thing. One of the important step here is moisturizing. Some of us tends to neglect and skip this step. I suffered from adult acne when I was in college so I tried different brands of moisturizer from high ends, low ends and cost effective ones.
I can say that my search for the perfect moisturizer is over until I read in a forum from female network this brand and been raved by GTalkers. May I now present to you the GNC Vitamin C Moisturizing Cream.
GNC or General Nutrition Centers is one of American commercial enterprise that focuses on retail sales of health and nutrition related products including vitamins, supplements, minerals, herbs, sports nutrition, diet and energy produtcs. Here in our country, GNC Live Well store are located in various malls. Some of them have stand alone store and kiosks.
So now let's focus on the product review. This moisturizing cream is under their beauty and wellness product along with other moisturizers like Aloe Vera moisturizing cream for sensitive skin and Vitamin A,E and D for dry skin. This product is also labeled as anti-aging cream.
GNC Vitamin C Moisturizing Cream
Vitamin C enhances the skin's natural production of collagen and helps to support skin health, excellent day moisturizer, maybe used at night too for optimum moisturization.

size: 2oz (57g)

price: 175php ( Around $ 4.00+ )

place bought:  GNC Sm Fairview
Available at all GNC stores nationwide

instruction for use:  Smooth on face and throat using upward strokes.
Apply daily as an excellent makeup base and nightly for optimum moisturization.

ingredients:  Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Myristate, Petrolatum, Propylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Dimethicone, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Diazolidinyl Urea, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Carbomer, Methylparaben, Triethanolamine, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Ascorbic Acid, Propylparaben, Fragrance.
GNC Vitamin C Moisturizing Cream
This is how the product looks like. It's almost half way of the tub.
GNC Vitamin C Moisturizing Cream
sorry for the blurry pic, the consistency is thick like that of a mayonnaise

What I like:
  • Not oily and easily absorbed by the skin.
  • Much softer/supple skin and brighter looking appearance.
  • No break-outs and irritations.
  • Light citrusy scent that is not overpowering.
  • The consistency of the cream is thick but spreadable.
  • Inexpensive for a 2oz jar because I only needed a pea size for my face and another pea size for my neck.
  • One jar lasted me for more than 3 months.
  • Batch and expiry date is stamped on the bottom of the jar.
What I don't like:
  • The packaging is a bit big for travel.
  • In a tub, not hygienic.
Will I repurchase: YES!

Recommendation:
I give this a 5/5 rating. I think it's better if the packaging is in a tube type like those of toothpaste or in a pump bottle. On the other hand, i love this product and I'm on my second tub now. It's a steal for a moisturizer that can also be a substitute for a night cream because you will wake up with a supple and hydrated face without the greasy feel.

I highly recommend this product for all skin types specially to ladies starting their late 20's because vitamin C also helps in the production of collagen which gives elasticity to the skin. Use a spatula to scoop out the cream and don't use your bare hands because it will contaminate the product.

I super love this product! That's all for now ladies. Have a great day ahead.

Good Times!~
