Chinese food will always have a special place in our hearts because we grew up enjoying noodles like pansit canton and bihon or their comforting foods- dim sum like siomai and sharks fin. So when we received an invite to attend the blessing and grand launch of a Singaporean-Chinese restaurant near our area, we immediately said yes!

Last November 13, 2019, the 7th branch of Wangfu Chinese Cafe finally opened at SM City Fairview Parkway. It was a well-attended event with a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a lion dance and was graced by Wangfu owners Richard Yap, Malou Santos, Ace Wang, and Lester Pimentel. After the ceremony, we got to try the best-selling viands on their menu. Scroll down to see the food offerings that we enjoyed and highly recommend.

Cereal Prawns (6 pcs. 598/ 8 pcs. 798)

This is the star of the night or should I say the crowd's favorite. Imported cereals from China were generously coated in shrimps. It has a buttery, crispy texture, and a subtle curry taste. I can finish all of these in one sitting.

Salted Egg Fried Chicken (P388)

Wangfu's take on the infamous salted egg recipe. If you're a fan of salted egg potato chips, give this a try. Boneless chicken fillet coated in salted egg batter then deep-fried to perfection.

Crunchy Sweet and Sour Pork with Lychee (P358)

Love sweet and sour pork? Here's one with a twist! Wangfu's Crunchy Sweet and Sour Pork have no pineapples. Their version with Lychee is surprisingly good!

French Bean Stir Fry (P288)

Crunchy green beans stir-fried in a sweet-salty sauce. It has a spicy kick that will make you ask for another cup of rice.

Singapore Bihon (P228)

This is Singapore's version of Bihon. It has simple ingredients but it's good enough to fill your hungry tummy and noodle cravings.

Dimsum (price starts at P98-P188)

We got to try their Pork Siomai, Japanese Siomai, Hakaw, and Sharks Fin and among these dumplings, the Pork Siomai left a spot on our palate. The hubby, Kenzo, and yours truly became an instant fan. There's something in their pork siomai that will let you crave for more.

Shanghai Fried Rice (P308)

A rice dish that you can eat on its own. It's flavorful and goes well with any dishes with or without sauce. A more flavorful take on your plain rice.
