Happy Sunday dearies! I'm back with another review and this time let me share with you my favorite finishing powder as of the moment. As you all know I'm a late bloomer when it comes to makeup and this is my first time using a loose powder to seal the bb cream or liquid foundation on my face. Before I met this baby, I was using Majolica Majorca Skin Remaker Pore Cover as my finishing powder. I never thought that translucent loose powder acts more than a powder foundation. When I saw this brand from my fellow beauty bloggers, I asked them if a tub is worth the hype. Aya, one of my closest blogger friend said yes and without second thoughts I gave in.
I visited essence counter at Sm Fairview and grab myself a tub of this. The tub contains 15.5g of goodness that I'm still using up now. If my memory serves me right it's been a year since I bough this product. There's so many positive reviews about Essence Fix and Matte Translucent Loose Powder here and abroad so If you're a makeup addict, I'm sure you've stumble upon them. Enough of the blabber, here's the review of one of the most coveted translucent loose powder among beauty bloggers worldwide. Click CONTINUE READING and find out why I gave this a 5/5 rating :)
Essence Fix and Matte Translucent Loose Powder The product comes in a palm size flat round jar with silver lid. The container is transparent and has holes that dispenses the right amount of product. |
size: 0.54 oz/ 15.5g
price: 259 php (Around $5.80+)
place bought: Essence counter, Sm Health and Beauty Section
instructions for use: Make sure that the main product is in the container and not above the sifter. When you pick up the loose powder on the brush, tap the handle against the top lip of the container to get rid of the excess that is sitting on top of the bristles. Apply on your face on a buffing or swirling motion.
ingredients: Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Polyethylene, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Methylparaben, Propylparaben
Essence Fix and Matte Translucent Loose Powder The color of this powder is white but once applied it becomes translucent. |
Essence Fix and Matte Translucent Powder Once blended, you can see that it's colorless and it somehow masked the lines on my hands |
What I like:
- The product comes in a big plastic tub. It's a flat round jar that's see through and I love it because I can easily see how much product left from the inside.
- It's well sealed upon purchase.
- Like all loose powders, there's a perforated plastic cap over the holes that dispenses the right amount of product that I need in one tap.
- The price- it's cheap for Php200+
- A little amount goes a long way.
- Covers pores and minor blemishes.
- The staying power is really amazing! My face is shine free for more than 8 hours.
- Didn't alter the color of my bb cream.
- It's flash photography friendly. No white cast on pictures.
- No break outs, irritation or whatsoever.
- There's batch, manufacturing and expiry date printed on the bottom of the plastic jar.
What I don't like:
- None!
Will I repurchase? YES!!!
Recommendation:
I give this a 5/5 rating. I absolutely love this powder to bits! Just a friendly reminder on how to use the product, dispense the right amount of product that you will use on the screw cap. Dip your brush and tap excess before buffing over your face. Since this is a loose powder, expect it to become messy during and after application. Please tightly close the screw cap if your keeping the tub in your makeup kit to avoid spillage.
What's your favorite finishing powder? Have you tried Essence? Thanks fro sharing!
Good Times!~
That was a good product! No visible pores at all plus it is very affordable! I love how it finishes matte on your skin, so smooth and radiant! I should buy this one! Love it super! <3 Thank you for the great review Ms. Kath!!
ReplyDeleteHello dear, thank you! Yup, in photos talaga the product can give you invisible pores and I love the finish kasi hindi talaga nag oil skin ko pag gamit ko to kahit mainit. Try this dear, you can swatch it sa Essence counters :)
DeleteThere seems to be a lot of women nowadays who prefer matte makeup. I have big expectations out of this Essence loose powder now learning that you don't have any dislikes about it.
ReplyDeleteI guess they like matte makeup to keep oilies at bay. I'm not a fan of matte makeups before but when I've tried this, I always want to look in the mirror with shine free face.
Deletewow.. I guess I will try this after using my Ellana loose powder :)
ReplyDeleteLet me know once you've tried this na and hope you can share your experience about the product.
DeleteI really like silica powders best. Makeup Forever silica powder is my go-to for imported brands, and Snoe Poudre Phenomenon is my local favorite. I haven't tried Essence, but probably will because it's really cheap.
ReplyDeleteDo visit my blog :)
-->Maita @ Mrs. Diaz
I already tried Snoe, it's also good and the scent is a plus factor for me but it's expensive for budget conscious mom like me. That's why I'm happy when I discovered this product while reading reviews from beauty bloggers who also uses this and gave it a great review.
DeleteIt's nice that it's colorless when blended so it won't be too visible on the face.
ReplyDeleteYes, loose powders like this go invisible once applied on the face. Good thing it doesn't change the color of the foundation or bb cream once applied.
DeleteWill definitely suggest this to my wife - I think it's one of the best!
ReplyDeleteThank you sir. Yes please suggest this because it's cheap and effective. Hope she'll like this :)
DeleteThis is good powder for ladies. I'll recommend this to my wife. Looks good for her.
ReplyDeleteThanks sir. Hope she'll like it!
DeleteThis definitely looks like a good product, nice product review from you.
ReplyDeleteYes it is :) Thank you!
DeleteLooks like a great product! I'm actually looking for an alternative to my Hera HD Fix, and this might just do the job. Sana we have it here at SM San Pablo. :)
ReplyDeleteHow's Hera HD Fix? I've seen great reviews about Hera BB creams way way back and I'm sure the HD Fix is also the same as the bb cream. Hope you can try this, not sure if it's available there though :(
DeleteYou definitely convinced me to try this so I will.
ReplyDeleteHi Mam Tess, I'm sure this powder is cheaper there in the US. Hope you can try this and let me know if you like it :)
DeleteIt's nice that the product is really affordable and effective.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a pocket saver for mom's like me who likes to buy budget friendly cosmetics
Deletenever pa ko nag-try gumamit ng ganyang product. because of your reviews ang dami kong nalalaman.
ReplyDeleteThank you dear :) Hope this helps you in your search for budget friendly and effective makeup :)
DeleteI might try this one, too!
ReplyDeleteTry this, thanks
DeleteUm, it's really obvious you just blurred the part of the picture where you claimed you 'applied' the powder... I don't know how the other people commenting can't see that themselves. Why do you have to lie to your readers like that?
ReplyDeleteHello, thanks for noticing my photos. Well, I did not blur out that part. Haven't used photoshop to blur or edit photos. I'm not lying to my readers. By the way, the blurring of the photo was caused by the apperture that point and shoot camera produces because it cannot focus on one part of the face. Thanks for sharing your comment :)
DeleteI wonder as to how you choose your products. Do you do it randomly and then blog about it the next day? I have thought how beauty bloggers do it :)
ReplyDeleteAs a blogger, I learned to do a research first before buying products that I will use. If I saw beauty bloggers give almost perfect scores on products they use or they have like for example this powder, I still think 100 times before buying. Because of product reviews I really learned to scrutinize the ingredients, price and the like before buying. Then I post a haul to show that I bough the product on the specific time then review it after using the products after a week or a month.
Deletethanks for the review! I've been wanting to try essence products for quite a long time now kaso I dunno where to buy them. >.<
ReplyDeleteHello Kenny, thank you! You can buy them sa Essence counters sa SM Beauty Section :)
DeleteI have a sensitive skin type and I am willing to try that powder thanks to your awesome review! Hope there is no allergic reaction.
ReplyDeleteHello there, I advice you to test the product by applying it on your lower chin at the Essence counters. You can go back after an hour you applied the product to check if there's allergic reactions.
DeleteWow..looks cool !
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yup :)
DeleteThis looks like a nice powder brand !
ReplyDeleteOne of the best drugstore brand from Europe sis :) Hope you can try this
DeleteI really love Essence's products - their nail polishes are great, I have an entire collection. Have you tried them? Regarding the Fix and Matte Loose Powder, I have never tried it, because I have my to go powder every day, but I must confess after reading all those reviews, now I'm very curious to see if it can do a good job on my combination skin.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Rally
Rally's Beauty Highway
Hello Rally :) Haven't tried their polishes. Yay, I'm sure you've read great reviews on the product. Are you convinced now to try this? Hope this will suit your combination skin. I also have combination skin and I experience no allergies or whatsoever :)
DeleteI actually want to believe na effective yung product dahil essence sya and considering na maatgal ka na po sa blogging industry. I am studying photoshop. I don't mean to be rude pero halata po kasi talaga na you used blur toool.
ReplyDeleteJust saying my opinion...
Thanks for the comment. But like what I've said on the first comment from the one who commented that I've "photoshopped" this the answer is NO, I didn't. My friends who are web designer and professional photographers already saw the photos and said that the blur part was caused by aperture from my point and shoot camera.
DeleteHello! I got curious so I checked this out. Well, it does seem like it's blurred out. Although I see where the powder is applied near the hairline. I guess instead of calling someone out for editing their photos/not being honest with their review, maybe we should try the product and judge for ourselves. There's no need to be mean, then again, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
ReplyDeleteI think it's also a factor that the camera you used is not as high quality as what the others use. Thanks for sharing though. Parang gusto ko na tuloy i-try to see for myself. Hehehehe
Thank you so much for the kind words and how you've seen the photos. I know that as a blogger I should produce clear and quality photos. Hope you can try it dear and share your experience once you've tried this ha :)
DeleteThis is perfect as a finishing product - and I'd definitely would love to try how it works for me one of these days. :D
ReplyDeleteyes dear, it's perfect for keeping oilies at bay and make your skin shine free
DeleteI also bought that one :) I agree for your rating of 5/5. It's finely-milled finishing powder. I feel it's cheaper for its quality:)
ReplyDeleteThank you sis :) I feel you :)
DeleteI also bought that one :) I agree for your rating of 5/5. It's finely-milled finishing powder. I feel it's cheaper for its quality:)
ReplyDeleteThanks dear for sharing your experience!
DeleteI also bought this product. It's very fine-milled finishing powder. It's cheaper for its high quality. I have plans of repurchasing.
ReplyDeleteYay! Thanks for the finely-milled description that I forgot to put on the caption of the powder :)
DeleteI want to try this product because you gave it a 5/5 rating
ReplyDeleteHope you can try this mommy Levy. Let me know!
DeleteI have tried Essence's polishes (awful quality) and hand creams (some smell divine) but not their base makeup (or in this case, powder). It must be amazing if you gave it 5/5!
ReplyDeleteOh my, sorry for that dear :) I hope you can find one product from Essence that you can say great :) I would love to try their hand cream cause you said it smells divine :)
DeleteI saw Essence yesterday in Watsons but didn't try the loose powder. I guess using this will absorb the oils on my face. Normally when in an airconditioned room, my face does not become oily but when outdoors for long hours, you can say that frying an egg is possible. :P
ReplyDeleteThis product is not meant for very dry skin because it will emphasize the dryness sis. I guess you should skip this if you're always in air conditioned room because it will add dryness on your face as this one is meant to suck oilies on the face.
DeleteSounds like a good product!
ReplyDeleteYes! thanks
DeleteIt still annoys me that I couldn't find this product here in our province. >:(
ReplyDeleteHi Angel25,
DeleteThis product has been discontinued na. They replaced it with the compact powder form. Hope you'll find it na.
Sorry Ms. Kath but the ingredients listed are products when refining oil/petroleum, tapos lahat ng listed parabens..which is a harmful chemical :/ maybe that's why it is cheap
ReplyDeleteHi,
DeleteThank you for sharing this. I'm not an expert when it comes to ingredients but I guess this will not be approved to be sold in the market if it's really bad for health. Hope a dermatologist or a doctor can enlighten us with this issue and back-up the claims with studies and explanation.
Hi, I'm planning to buy this product soon but I have a concern and saw your blog about it. Can you wear this on a bare face? Without foundation? I use Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder but it's always sold out so I'm checking out other brands. I'm not a heavy user of make-up since I'm still starting and I'm not a fan of foundation. Thank you so much, awaiting for your reply! Much love!
ReplyDeleteHi Rina,
DeleteIf you have good skin, a tinted moisturizer is okay then set with this powder. I use this to set my BB cream with medium coverage. It's discontinued na sa ph market, yung available na lang is yung compact powder form nito dito sa atin.
