     Finding the perfect outfit to compliment your body type may be a difficult task to master, especially when you don't understand basic fashion principles. But making the right choices can dramatically change the way you look and give you an instant boost a confidence. In this article, I'm going to show you exactly what to wear and what to avoid depending on body your shape.

     First of all, you have to know what your body shape is to begin with. If you have narrow shoulders, but a wider waist, then you're considered pear shaped. If you have wider shoulders, you will be identified as an apple shaped body. If your shoulders are the same width as your waist, your body type is considered rectangular and if you're top heavy with wide hips and a narrow waist, you have what is considered an hourglass shaped body.

     Now that you know your body type, you'll be more able to identify which clothes to choose and those to avoid. If you have an apple shaped body, the most important thing to keep in mind is that you need to keep the attention on your bust and neck region. V necks, striped shift dresses and women’s belted jackets are all recommend for a sophisticated, yet classy look. However, whatever you do, stay away from any item that accentuates your midriff.

     If you fit into the pear shaped category, you need to put more attention on your shoulders and away from your hips. Tight dresses should only be worn if you have a solid top to make up for it. A nice biker style leather jacket with a nice pair of slightly flared pants would be a perfect combination. Try to stay away from anything that is too stretchy at the bottom or any pants that would make you ankles or legs look thinner.

     Those with a rectangular body type want to accentuate their waist area to add shape to their body. Anything that pinches your hips would be a great addition to your wardrobe. A nice belt can really transform your silhouette and add the illusion of curves to your body. You should also wear more tight fitted clothes to compliment your body shape. However, whatever you do, stay away from anything that would be seen as too masculine; trouser suits, for instance, should be completely avoided in business settings.
