Being a Filipino , we have all grown up with Filipino dishes cooked and served to us by our parents and relatives. We all love and patronize Filipino food! Love your own may sound cliche but our hearts will always belong and long for historic Filipino cuisine that I'm sure have left an imprint in our palate.

There are so many Filipino restaurants here in our country today serving Filipino dishes but I'm sure some of you may find the dishes too common or can be cooked at home. If you and your love ones share a love of gourmet Filipino cooking then this restaurant is the best place to visit. DEKADA Historic Filipino Cuisine offers a wide array of Filipino dishes that will bring back childhood memories and the joyous feast. I'm excited to share with you historic Filipino dishes that we had during our lunch at their Fairview Terraces branch! Click CONTINUE READING and enjoy!

I'm sure you are all wondering what's behind the name DEKADA (decade) and how it started. Here's a little information about this historic Filipino cuisine restaurant that I'm sure you'll love like what I felt when I first visited their Fairview Terraces branch.
Dekada is our tribute to historic events and heroes. We also celebrate the changing times from the Spanish era to decades 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. We opened Independence day of last year (2013) and currently have two branches: 2nd Level of Glorietta 3 and Upper Ground of Fairview Terraces.
Upon entering the restaurant, I was blown away by the interior and the ambiance. It's like I'm visiting my grand parents house in the province but with a feel of modern vibe. The black and white, brown and white theme of the resto made the place posh and laid back too.

Before I sat down on my chair, I roamed my eyes and saw their dining tables and chair made of wood. I'm not sure if it's made of narra or other indigenous trees in our country but for sure you will feel the historic Filipino vibe. It's nostalgic on my part, because we have similar in kind of dining table at home. Brings back childhood memories, indeed :)

So before we opened their one of a kind menu, like a scrapbook full of stories on my part I will tell you something unique about DEKADA's name of dishes. According to their history:
We are fascinated by the dishes and with our history so we matched them. Our marketing is trying to contact descendants of our national heroes. We imagine it would be great if we can prepare Bonifacio’s, Juan Luna’s or Tandang Sora’s favourite dishes.

Now let me introduce to you my drink of the day and the "hit" drink of the day. Why hit? It's everyone's favorite. I was surprised to see their drink in the name of EDSA Milo Godzilla. Mine was named Marcos basically it's a refreshing Calamansi Juice with Honey. It's literally sour, real Calamansi goodness with a kick of sweetness from pure honey.

Are you the type who likes drinking chocolate drinks, milk tea or shakes during meals? Then you should go for EDSA Milo Godzilla when you visit DEKADA. I can say it's a must for the sweet tooth- a refreshing drink and a dessert in one!

I know you're already hungry! So let's start with the appetizer, we had the Sikatuna Salad for starter. This salad is composed of romaines, cucumber, quail eggs, shrimps, pomelo and dalandan slices. I like the combination of this salad because the sweetness and sourness of pomelo and dalandan made this salad juicy. This one is a must if you're on a diet and for salad lover in you!

Okay now hold your breath dearies, I will introduce to you two of the fried rice that I can say "Kanin pa lang, Ulam na!" You can have breakfast at DEKADA from sun up to sun down :) You should not miss this I SWEAR! Say hello to Franciscano- it's dilis fried rice! To make this fried rice complete you should ask for vinegar on the side. I tell you know that you will crave for this the moment it touches your lips.

If you're not a dilis (fried fish) lover, then here's an alternative order for you- Agustino, the bagoong rice. This fried rice variant is served with grilled pork liempo on top that is marinated in a sweet barbeque sauce. There's egg and slices of green mango on the side to complement the taste of bagoong. Another must try when you visit DEKADA, with this on your table, I'm sure you'll ask for more!

Who here loves spicy foods? When hear the word spicy, what comes to your mind? I'm sure you will say Bicol Express because it's one of the spicy dish that is commonly served in Filipino restaurants and other food houses here in our country. What about when you see a Bicol Express that looks like the photo below? What will be your reaction? Yummm for sure :) This Bicol Express with a twist is called Sakay. See the plating? This crispy liempo is very inviting and don't forget to top it with the sauce for that extra kick of spicyness. Modern Bicol Express for the win!

So now tell me if you will resist this Crispy Pata that is perfectly cooked without the bone? They deboned it already so all you have to do is savor the flavor and the crispiness of this classic Filipino dish that everyone love! It's called Seguela by the way.

For the chicken lovers, you will love their Lechon Manok (Roasted Chicken) in Lemongrass called Rizal. This classic chicken dish is very tender and juicy. Perfect for those who like to eat it on it's own or you can order piping hot steaming rice for a sumptuous meal.

I know, I know, the Filipino feast will not be complete with out the Kare-Kare! This historic Filipino dish called Gomburza by DEKADA is made of oxtail, beef tripe, eggplant slices, pechay, string beans and banana bud plus the rich, thick flavorful peanut sauce with bagoong on the side is highly recommended. Don't leave DEKADA without ordering this. The oxtail meat is tender, the vegetables are not overcooked and the peanut sauce is very flavourful and perfect when paired with piping hot steam rice.

Christmas is just around the corner but for DEKADA, Christmas is all year round because they have puto-bumbong for dessert! They serve this with muscovado sugar, coconut shavings and cheese. Just by looking at the photos, I can say Merry Christmas to all of you!

If Christmas is celebrated all year round at DEKADA, you can also feel summer vibe  all year round when you order their Halo-Halo! They have the most beautiful Halo-Halo presentation that I've seen in my entire life! No kidding, I was wowed by the presentation and the ingredients that are present inside and on top of this coconut shell. Worrying about the taste of your halo-halo? You can control the amount of sweetness because they serve it with a separate glucose syrup and milk on the side. So from there you can customize your halo-halo just ask for a separate bowl then you can mix everything that you see in the photo below. You can also scrape the coconut meat inside the coconut shell and add it to your halo-halo mixture.

If you have relatives coming home for a vacation, then DEKADA is the right place to visit. I'm pretty sure they'll love the ambiance, the food and will bring back memories of childhood that will surely made them say I'm proud to be a Filipino.
