Product Review: Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway SPF50+ PA++++

Thursday, November 22, 2018

Ever since I became more serious in taking care of my skin, I see to it that I apply an ample amount of sunscreen on my face after the wash, tone and moisturize routine. I use sunscreen every day even when I'm indoors because hello, UVA! The fluorescent light at home and blue light coming from a laptop, mobile phone, and other gadgets emit a low level of radiation hence using sun protection products all the time is a must.

I've tried a few brands of sunscreen before and only two of them became a mainstay in my skincare stash. Looks like a new baby from Althea Korea will join the army. Enter Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway SPF50+ PA++++, the newest sunscreen product from Althea that gives a soft, velvety, and petal-like skin. More information about the product below.

Product Review: Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway SPF50+ PA++++

Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway SPF50+ PA++++
  • Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway SPF50+ PA++++ is a lightweight sunscreen that protects the skin from UV rays with a petal-like finish
  • Made from a non-chemical formula with a light, fluid texture to protect the skin from both UVA and UVB rays
  • With SPF50+ and PA++++, Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway SPF50+ PA++++ instantly provides you maximum protection from UVA and UVB rays which cause skin darkening and skin aging.
  • Microparticles absorb sebum and excess oil from the skin to give a light, velvety finish. As you apply the Sunaway, hyaluronic acid replenishes moisture and deeply hydrates the skin.
  • Petal Velvet Sunaway contains Damask rose extracts to moisturize and smoothen the skin.

Shake the bottle well before dispensing the product to get a nice creamy texture that is not thick nor runny. It's easy to apply and applies velvety smooth on my face. No waiting game needed as it is quickly absorbed by the skin. It feels like and can pass as a makeup base for those who don't want to apply a primer.

Product Review: Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway SPF50+ PA++++

Here's my face after application. I applied a right amount of Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway and there's no white cast in this photo. You can see my skin not dry at all. It's moisturized and has a nice color.

What I like:
  • The price is affordable.
  • The packaging is cute, handy, and travel-friendly.
  • Its nozzle tip dispenses the right amount of product.
  • A little amount goes a long way.
  • It has SPF 50 + PA+++ which is one of the highest numbers in terms of SPF next to 100. It filters about 98% of UVB (according to popsugar.com)
  • Applies evenly and smoothly onto the skin without leaving a white cast behind.
  • It's moisturizing and gentle on skin.
  • It is great as a makeup base too.
  • No allergic reactions, irritations, breakouts, or whatsoever.
  • Not sticky and non-greasy.
  • There are batch, manufacturing, and expiry date.

What I don't like:
  • I'm not a fan of the herbalish scent. I find it a bit overpowering.

Will I repurchase? Yes but not for now because I still have two bottles of sunblock from another brand that I also love.

Recommendation:
I give this a 4.5/5 rating. Looks like I have a new baby that will be a mainstay in my sunscreen stash. I currently use two sunblocks from another brand alternately. Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway SPF50+ PA++++ will be the third in the rotation because it is lightweight and feels velvety smooth on the face right after application. Always remember not to stay too long in the sun even if you slathered on sunblock because over-exposure may impose a serious health threat. Regular use of sunscreen is one way to reduce the danger of sun exposure so don't forget to apply it every day.

Have you tried Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway SPF50+ PA++++?

Good  Times!~
