4 Ways Technology Might Make Us Superhuman

Saturday, January 21, 2017

If you were to ask anybody if they could have a superpower, you’d be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't have a ready-made answer to the question. For some, it might be the ability to fly or use telekinesis, while others might choose something like invisibility or invincibility.

But now, thanks to various new technologies developed by private companies such Google or government programs like DARPA, real life is becoming increasingly closer to fiction. In this article, we're going to explore four ways technologies might actually make us superhuman in the near future.

4 Ways Technology Might Make Us Superhuman

Brain Computer Interface

Brain computer interfaces, or BCIs for short, are exactly what their names indicate: a way for computers or any external computing devices to communicate directly with the brain without the need for an intermediary. BCIs were more of a sci-fi thing not too long ago, but thanks to recent advancement in technology, BCIs might make their entry into the mainstream pretty soon.

Jet Packs

From times immemorial, humans dreamt of being able to fly, and thanks to jetpacks, this could soon become a reality. Companies such as Martin Aircrafts, based in New Zealand, are already developing a line of jet packs that will allow humans to fly at speeds exceeding 46 mph, and at an altitude of over 3000 ft.

Predicting the Future

A new piece of software by the name of Recorded Future uses information from events past and present and uses a series of complex algorithms to predict the future. The program in question uses a series of variables and analyses the data with sometimes shockingly accurate predictions. The tool is currently reserved by governmental agencies, marketers and investors to monitor new trends. But in the meanwhile, you can always contact a good phone psychic such as Telemedium.ca until a freeware version comes out.

Exoskeletons

The idea of creating a fully functioning exoskeleton has been in the works for quite a while now, and thanks to recent advancements in the world of robotics, exoskeletons might become available fairly soon. However, while exoskeletons may have obvious benefits when it comes to defence, the biggest advances in the field are in the world of prosthetics.

Companies are creating exoskeletons to allow people with disabilities to move freely without the need for other instruments. A 50-pound exoskeleton by the name of Ekso has already made its appearance in a few healthcare facilities across the United States and it allows people with severe spinal cord injuries to walk normally without the use of crutches.

The HULC, another exoskeleton developed by Lockheed Martin, was designed to allow soldiers to carry up to 200-pounds of weight at speeds of 10 miles per hour, with little to no effort. While the unit uses pre-programmed steps, it also uses a variety of accelerometers and sensors to assist users using their natural movement.

All the innovations mentioned in this article should be available to customers in the near future. May it be telekinesis, exoskeletons, or being able to predict the future, technology is slowly, but surely bringing us closer to omnipotence.
