Yes, I was surprised when David's Salon invited me to try the latest addition to their services- Guinot Hydradermie Treatment. This treatment originally came from Paris, France and David's Salon brought it here so that we can also try the "double ionisation" facial treatment that female clients throughout France rave about.

     I've tried a few types of facial so far and these treatments have different goals. Some are effective while some are just so-so. With Hydradermie "Double Ionisation" it's like a treatment in a treatment. It is an innovation that reinforces treatment effectiveness. The beauty therapist explained to me the process, how the treatment works, and what are the do's and dont's

     Inside the treatment area of David's Salon, you'll see Guinot products that will be used for the treatment and the treatment electrodes inside that box (middle) which I'll show you after the jump. So before sharing my experience below, let me tell you more of the "Double Ionisation" below.

     "Double Ionisation" is an advanced procedure that increases the penetration of both positive and negative ions. This new approach thus enables the penetration of active ingredients with the negative polarity such as hyaluronic acid, nucleic acid, vitamin E, Vitamin F, Vitamin C, salicylic acid, fruit acids and amino acids.

     The handpiece you see below are the new electrodes that have been designed to increase treatment precision. Their shape fits the shape of underlying facial muscles. So how these electrodes work? The roller ionises gels on the flat surfaces of the face, while the balls ionise gels specifically on the chin, eyes, mouth, and laugh lines. The client no longer needs to hold the negative bar. In one of my facial services before, I'm holding a negative bar.

     What are the things you need to do/know and understand before trying Guinot Hydradermie Treatment?

1. There's a beauty consultation. The beauty consultant will assess first your skin type and what kind of skin problem/s you have. She'll ask what is your skin care routine at home, what products you use everyday and if you have facial treatment recently. BE HONEST! I advise you to say everything and let her tell you the pros and cons why she will allow you or not allow you to try the treatment.

2. They have treatment protocols that's why they are doing this. For example, if you had your facial a week before this treatment, she may not allow you to try this service of if you're using products with retinol. This is to make sure that your skin will not experience negative effects or will not react to Guinot serum gels. Always remember that it's better be safe than sorry.

3. Those with metal implants are not allowed. If you have braces, you will feel the current specially if the electrodes are rolling near the mouth area. You can still try this and tell the therapist to set the current in low settings.

4. You have a skincare goal here. There is a specific serum gel for each beauty goal like nutrition, moisturizing, anti-wrinkle, purity, calming, lightening, and age logic. There are also those for specific area like the anti-wrinkle serum gel for the eyes and the firming serum gel to treat the neck and bust area. What's great about these serum gels? You can combine them! Yes, especially if you have different skin types like if you have combination skin, sensitive and acne prone, or you want an anti-aging on specific area while whitening on others.

With makeup on, all of these will be removed

     This treatment lasts for approximately 1 hour or so. In order that you'll fully enjoy the treatment, allot 2 hours of your time. This treatment is not only for the face because it also includes the neck and some part of the upper extremities. It's relaxing too, I fall asleep during the treatment.

Here's a brief summary of the process:

1. After choosing the double ionisation serum gel/s, the therapist will set the beauty goal. She will apply those gels step by step. Removes your makeup, cleanse the face, applies the toner, cleanse, scrub, and serum gels for your beauty goals.

2. Static electricity is applied. It revives complexion, increase skin radiance and it helps the serum gels penetrate more in the skin.

3. Skin oxygenation is next. The hand piece is used in a circular motion favouring skin oxygenation and subcutaneous circulation. Then a relaxing facial massage follows. This is not an ordinary facial massage, it focuses on face, neck, shoulders, and arms. It's very relaxing that I woke up with almost done session.

4. My skin is literally glowing, I love how soft and smooth my face is. You can also wear makeup after this facial treatment. You can squeeze in this treatment during lunch breaks if you want to feel relaxed and pampered. Go back to the office feeling refreshed and with makeup too if you like :) This is not like other facial treatments that you can't wash the face afterwards and you're not allowed to put anything on your face for 6-12 hours.
