Yesterday, superheroes came to life as cosplay afficionados gathered and showed their charm at the event center of SM City Fairview wearing their favorite DC Comics superhero costumes for the last leg of DC Pocket Cosplay. This event is in preparation for the DC Comics Super Hero World Record Event that will be happening this April 18, 2015 at The Block Atrium, SM City North EDSA. Yay! this will be the biggest gathering of cosplayers, DC Comics addict, DC video gamers, DC toy collectibles and everything in between.
According to Alfonso who hosted the event yesterday, the number of cosplayers who joined at SM Fairview was one of the biggest. There were 11 contestants who displayed their DC superhero costumes, some were shy because it's their first time joining this kind of contest while others entered the stage loud and proud. The 11 contestants showed popular superhero costumes and I bet you already know these cosplayers faves. I can say Superman and Batman are so spoiled because even the crowd loves them.

These were the first six cosplayers who entered the stage and wowed the crowd. In terms of preparation, you can see in the photo who prepared for days, weeks or even months for this competition.

Cosplayers not only showed their fierce superhero costumes because they are also game to show the crowd how superheroes behave. Well, they've demonstrated some martial arts movements like that of a true superhero. POW! BAM! ZAP! BOOM!

Age is just a number and from what I witnessed yesterday, these mothers believed that. These cute toddlers showed us that even them can join cosplays and wear superhero costumes in the cutest way you can imagine. The boy in the left entered the stage in the usual Clark Kent office attire with his eyeglasses and in just a few minutes transformed into that Superman costume!

Cosplayers were asked a few questions about their preparation prior to the contests. As you can see on the photo above, Batman won the heart of these contestants. One the crowd's favorite was Cyborg who said that his costume was made from recycled materials and from his experience in electronics.

So after the short interview sesh with the cosplayers, winners were announced! The judges have spoken and chosen these cosplayers based on how they carry the costume, their appeal to the crowd and the superhero x-factor! Congratulations to Federico del Carmen as Batman- 3rd place, Christian Umali as Cyborg- 2nd place and Bolen Lareza as Hawkgirl- 1st place. These cosplayers received 1k, 3k, and 5k cash respectively.

DeleteThat adorable little Hawkeye! My friend was on the judges' panel for the one at SM Bicutan and she said it was just super fun times for everyone. They're really trying to build up the presence of this event for the big finale. Will you be covering it?
