Product Review: Treating Scars Successfully with Contractubex

Thursday, June 28, 2012

Hi lovelies! After two weeks of using Contractubex here's my initial review. I apply it 2 or 3 times a day and I can say that long term use will definitely show improvements on my scar. If you're wondering why I'm using this, I had my operation last month and the scar is very obvious. You can read my post here: Salpingectomy. My OB prescribed this and I know it will somehow make the scar less visible but not totally diminish it. I also want to use this to avoid keloid scar, I'm not sure if I'm prone to this type of scarring but 2 of my sisters are complaining about their keloids. So I need to deal with it and "prevention is better than cure".

Contractubex Gel

Contractubex
is a highly effective treatment for all scar types. it actively promotes the healing process of the skin and reduces scarring from within. This scar gel with the triple effect: prevents the formation of excessive scar tissue, reduces redness, itching and the feeling of tension and makes the scar smoother and improves elasticity. For a nearly invisible scar, start the treatment as soon as the wound is closed or the stitches are removed. This ensures that your scar will become so fine that you will hardly see or feel it. Contractubex can be used after abrasions, cuts or lacerations; operations, burns or scalds, laser treatments (e.g. tattoo removal)

Contractubex Gel

size: 10g

price:  520 php (Around $12.20+)

place bought: Mercury Drugstore, Watsons Pharmacy

instructions for  use: Ideally, Contractubex® gel should be gently massaged in 2 to 3 times daily for at least 3 months. Contractubex® forms a discrete film that protects the sensitive scar tissue. Apply Contractubex® only to wounds that are already closed. Avoid contact with eyes, the inside of the nose or mouth and other mucous membranes. Start at the centre and work towards the edges, massaging the gel gently into the scar. Continue with a small, circular motion until Contractubex® is completely absorbed. Scar treatment needs patience, as the injured skin takes time to heal. After about 4 weeks, a reduction of redness can usually be observed; after two months, the scar tissue gradually becomes lighter, more elastic and flat.

ingredients: Extract cepea 10.0g, heparin sodium 5000 I.U., allantoin 1.0 g, serol vehicle ad 100 g.

Contractubex Gel
This is the exact amount of the product that I use on my scar. I can't post a photo of my scar because it's somewhere near the private area, just imagine it's 3-4 inches long.

What I like:
  • The gel-like consistency is not sticky and slimy.
  • The scent- smells like roses which is not overpowering.
  • Easy to spread and leaves a thin coat of film.
  • There's a cooling and tinging sensation which I like because I know the product is penetrating in my scar tissues.
  • I find this affordable because after 2 weeks of daily usage, I only consumed about 5% of the product. So this tube will last me a long way.
  • Complete information on the box, with manufacturing and expiry date.

What I don't like:
  • The packaging- I have this problem with ointment tubes wherein I cannot control the amount I'm dispensing.

Will I repurchase? Yes, after finishing the tube and if the scar is still visible.

Recommendation:
I give this a 4.75/5 rating. Contractubex clearly stated that it's effective for newly formed scars. I can attest to it because I can see how my scar flattened after two weeks of use. For old scars, let say around 2 years there's a special instruction written on the box on how to use the product. This treatment is laborious, you have to apply the cream 3 to 4 times a day to see the results. Patience is a virtue! So if you have newly formed scars, I highly recommend this product.

How do you deal with scars? Have you tried Contractubex? Have a great day ahead!

Good Times!~

Product Review: Nature Republic Watery Sun Cream 30 PA++

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

Hello ladies, happy Monday! Start your week right by smiling and think of positive things coming your way :D Today I'm going to share an important addition to my skin care routine. I'm guilty of neglecting this ever since I became aware on the importance of basic skin care. I always skip sunblock. I have this notion before that sunblock is only used during summer and when you're going to the beach. I also have sensitive nose that I dislike the scent of most sunblock being sold in the market before. The only brand that I knew was Coppertone and Banana Boat. Silly me! The effects of UVA/UVB is now taking its toll on me. Tiny dark spots or freckles are visible on my cheeks. But I'm still lazy putting sunblock on my face. When bb creams came out, I'm relieved because it's all-in-one. Tinted moisturizer + sunblock + whitening + anti-aging, it's like a miracle in a bottle. So I rely on bb creams for sun protection.

When I read a post that spf on a bb cream is not enough to shield the skin from damaging sun rays, I decided to include sunblock on my skin care regimen. There's so many different brand of sunblock in the market today. The higher the spf, the better in shielding your skin from the damaging UV rays. My current sunblock contains only spf30 that I think is good for me since I'm always indoors. This sunblock is also a part of the birthday blog sale giveaway that I won so it's only half of the tube when I received it. I considered this as my first sunblock since I'm using this everyday :D

Nature Republic Watery Sun Cream 30 PA++
Simple packaging, tube type

Nature Republic Watery Sun Cream 30 PA++
I like this nozzle type because you can control the amount of product coming out of the tube.

Nature Republic Watery Sun Cream 30 PA++
This white cream has a medium like consistency. Swatch under different lightning

Nature Republic Watery Sun Cream 30 PA++
Blended on my hand, you can see there's a white cast. I had a hard time taking photo with flash on because it's too reflective.

What I like:
  • The scent is nice. It's not overpowering like Coppertone and Banana Boat.
  • A little goes a long way.
  • Water-proof.
  • Applies velvety smooth and has a bit of glittery effect that's not noticeable
  • Doesn't break me out, no allergic reactions whatsoever.
  • Doesn't make my skin oily.
What I don't like:
  • Has only spf 30. ( I searched the internet and saw that this variant has spf 50 too)
  • There' a white cast even though it has low spf content.
  • Since I bought it pre-loved, I don't know the product information.

Will I repurchase? No. I want to try western brands like Neutrogena and Nivea.

Recommendation:
I give this a 3/5 rating. I'm happy with this purchase at least I got to try a sunscreen on its own. Now is the time to hunt for my HG sunblock, since this is important to prevent aging skin and cancer I will consider buying even those expensive ones.

What's your favorite sunblock?Any recommendations? Thanks for sharing!

Good Times!~

Product Review: My Thoughts on Epionce Renewal Facial Lotion

Yay! I'm thinking of having another giveaway on my 100th follower. Thank you so much for the support! More product reviews on organic skin care and random stuffs are in line so watch out for it. For the mean time, I will just make a short review about  Epionce. This product came from the birthday blog sale giveaway that I joined last January. I already finished the Epionce Renewal Facial Lotion and it's just a sample size (15ml) which has around 30% product left on the tube when I received. I wasn't able to see if the product helped me in renewing the surface of my skin. My skin condition: Oily T-zones, large pores, dark marks from pimples and freckles on both cheeks.
WHO IT'S FORIdeal for all skin types, especially combination-oily and aging, who want comfortable, smooth skin.

KEY INGREDIENTS

product info taken from: http://skincarerx.com/Epionce-Renewal-Facial-Lotion.html
  • The product has this scent that I cannot describe but I can tolerate it.
  • A pea size is enough to spread over my entire face.
  • It's sticky and leaves my face with a shine that looks like I just rubbed a baby oil on my face.
  • Since this is just a sample product, I wasn't able to gauge the effect on my skin.
  • I use this every night for two weeks and gave me a glow on my face the next day.
  • No product information, again this is a sample product.
  • Will probably not purchase a full-sized one, I know this type of facial lotion is expensive.

But I'm happy that I bought this so now I know what's the feeling of using expensive face creams. I'm not ready to splurge, maybe in the near future where I need to invest on anti-aging creams, serums, etc.

What's the most expensive skin care product you've tried? Share!

Good Times!~
