Friday, June 29, 2012

Are you suffering from dry and chapped lips? Mine does! If the weather is cold, my lips becomes dry and flaky. I hate it when I look in the mirror and I always see dead skin on top of my lips, I really wanna peel it off. Ugh. Thank goodness there's Carmex! If you're a follower of my blog, prolly you know that I made a post on my first Carmex lip balm in a tube and it became my HG lip balm. I already finished the tube and I'm glad that I have a new one. But this time, it's another variant of Carmex. I got this baby from the Everyday Essentials Loot that I won from The Beauty Junkee's 3rd Grand Anniversary Giveaway.

After using this for two weeks, I'm totally hand's down to this product :D Here's my take on another keeper!!!

Without Carmex, just ignore the reflection on my lower lips.

With Carmex, just a hint of shine- soft and moisturized lips! Pardon if in this photo it looks like I just ate an oily food, it's the reflection of the light and mirror. I used my phone to take this photo with a mirror behind it.

What I like:
  • Simple packaging, the hubby doesn't mind using this lip balm in public because for him the jar is for "unisex" meaning not a girly or fancy thing.
  • I love the tingling sensation it gives right after application. It leaves a cool and minty feel.
  • Inexpensive.
  • Not waxy and sticky.
  • I apply this whenever I have blisters on my lips and it soothes the irritation.
  • My lips felt soft and smooth after application.
  • There's a product information printed on the package with expiry date.
What I don't like:
  • The packaging can be unhygienic for me because sometimes I feel lazy using my mini spatula to scoop out the product.
Will I repurchase? Yes! I'm using this daily morning and evening so a jar will not last that long. The hubby uses this too so I need to buy a back up soon.

Recommendation:
I give this a 4.5/5 rating. This product is really effective! It's affordable too. What more can I say? It relieves and moisturises. This is my HG lipbalm :D

Product Review: Careline Lip Gloss in 111

Friday, June 22, 2012

Bright and Bold colors are IN this season. Neons are seen in every fashionista sporting them from accessories to their wardrobes. Who can't resists them? These colors are fun and brings happiness to a gloomy sky and rainy day! If fashion afficionados are having fun mix and matching their outfits with neons, then makeup lovers can also make their own statement.

When I think of bright and bold colors in makeup, the first thing that pops in my mind is lipstick. I really want to try a bright and bold color lippie but I'm afraid that it would look off on me. Not everyone looks good with a bright pink or a sultry red lippie. As I searched online, I stumbled upon this local brand called Careline. They offer a wide range of cosmetics and the prices are budget friendly. They have wide selection for lipsticks and lip glosses. So when I visited the store that carries Careline cosmetics, I told myself that I'm going home with one lip gloss in my bag. The SA showed me eye-catching colors of lip glosses. I don't know which color to choose. Since I'm looking for something orange-y, I picked 111.

What I like:
  • It's dirt cheap at 60Php!
  • The color pay off is excellent, very pigmented.
  • The scent is sweet and not overpowering, it's like watermelon.
  • Wide selection of colors.
  • Doesn't dry my lips.
  • Not gooey and sticky.
  • The application is smooth and easy with the doe foot applicator.
  • Easily available.
  • Enriched with vitamin E.
What I don't like:
  • The label can easily be rub off.
  • A bit difficult to remove, I sometimes use my lip and eye makeup remover.
  • No manufacturing and expiration date.
Will I repurchase? Yes! I will try a red and nude shade from the selection.

Recommendation:
I give this a 4/5 rating. I love how it brightens my face and doesn't dry my lips. But there were times this color looks off on me. As for the price, this is really affordable and if I have the opportunity to buy other colors, I will purchase 3 more.

Would you dare wear bold and bright color lipstick and lip gloss?Have a great day ahead!

Product Review: Carmex Cherry Tube

Saturday, October 08, 2011

Lipbalms play an important role in lip care. It can moisturize, prevent chapped and flaking lips, aids in windburn, and as lipstick base. Peace, love and lipgloss or should I say lip balm? Methinks it's time to review one of many lip balms that I have. I remember owning more than 5 lip balms since high school. Avon, Chapstick, Blistex, Nivea, Vaseline to name a few. Some are effective some are nada!

Thanks to google because after years of research I saw this lip balm that has been raved in different forums and after finishing a tube, I will say my thoughts now.

What I like:
  • Moisturize my lips in an instant.
  • Has a minty feel.
  • I love the flavor and scent.
  • Really affordable at 99 php since a tube lasts long.
  • Has spf.
  • Squeezable tube.
What I don't like:
  • The texture is a bit waxy.
  • There are times that it dries my lips.
  • I can taste the petrolatum like petroleum jelly even though its cherry flavored.
Will I repurchase? Maybe no. I still have a back-up since this was given to me as a "pasalubong" by my sister-in-law from the US.

Recommendation:
I give this a 4/5 rating. I recommend this to anyone who wants to try squeezable tube type lip balm than the conventional one in a stick type. For those who wants to moisturize their lips prior to lip stick application.

I'm on a search for another lip balm that is affordable and organic. Do you love carmex lip balms?Share us your thoughts.
