Product Review: Mestiza The Healthy Skin Soap

Here's a resounding YES for another soap review! If my memory serves me right, the last time I made a review was a year ago that's why I'm excited to share another brand that has been in the market for years now. I was intrigued because my Mama swears that it's effective on maintaining the tone and texture of her skin. She's 62 and doesn't look her age at all.

Enter MESTIZA, a herbal soap that's been in the market for years now known to be more than just a whitening soap because it contains natural ingredients not only for whitening but for combating other skin concerns. MESTIZA is proudly Philippine made. Made from all-natural ingredients that promote healthy skin. The main ingredient is world-famous, and may probably even be considered 'superfood' - Virgin Coconut Oil and high-grade coconut oil. My thoughts after using Mestiza Prime Scarlet Rose variant below.

Product Review: Mestiza The Healthy Skin Soap

Tested the Mestiza The Healthy Skin Soap Prime Scarlet Rose variant last December for a month. The size of the soap is same as the regular square bars. No fancy design or whatsoever just the logo of Mestiza in one side of the bar. The color of the bar corresponds to the active ingredient that it has. The soap produces a thick lather which I like because I can really feel that it gives all the nutrients my body needs and at the same time making it squeaky clean. The bar doesn't melt off easily even if its made by cold press technique which I find amazing.

Product Review: Mestiza The Healthy Skin Soap
Mestiza The Healthy Skin Soap Prime Scarlet Rose for Normal to Oily Skin

What I like:
  • The packaging now comes in different colors because of the additional variants. I like that the color of the packaging corresponds to what is the color of the soap inside the box.
  • It now comes in 5 variants to address different skin type and concerns. The original line is what my mom uses and swears by the effects on her senior citizen skin. Yes, my mama is 60+ years old already. The other 4 variants in the prime line have 40% Extra Premium Virgin Coconut Oil which is an excellent moisturizer that can penetrate better than other beauty oils in the market. Yay!
  • It produces a rich lather and washes off easily.
  • No tingling or burning sensation, irritation, breakouts or whatsoever on my first week of using the Prime Scarlet Rose variant.
  • The soap is not drying to the skin.
  • I like that it's made of natural active ingredients like Papaya, Banana, Carrot, Virgin Coconut Oil, and Calamansi.
  • I'm after the anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, antiseptic, and anti-microbial properties of the soaps. It's an added feature that other whitening soaps don't have.
  • My skin feels soft and smooth to touch after use.
  • There's a certain glow in my skin after use.
  • Even though the soap is cold- processed, it doesn't melt fast.
  • There are a batch and manufacturing date stamped in the packaging.
  • Easily accessible.

What I don't like:
  • No significant change in my skin tone after finishing one bar.
  • I wish that there's a more of fruity scent in every bar since there's a calamansi in the ingredients.

Will I repurchase? Yes! Mestiza soap is promising and with continued use, I think it will maintain my skin tone and nourish it with vitamins from its natural ingredients.

Recommendation:
I give this a 4.5/5 rating. For 120g, the original variant is one of the most affordable whitening soaps in the market today. I could not ask for more in terms of the ingredients list because it's a no-brainer that VCO, papaya, carrot, banana, and calamansi are good for the body when eaten in right amounts so it's also good in nourishing the skin with proper use.

I suggest that you place the soap in a dry and cool place to prevent it from melting fast. Know your skin concern/s first then choose the variant that will suit you best. I highly recommend Mestiza soap if you have sensitive skin and new into whitening soaps because the ingredients are natural and in long term use have other benefits that will give you healthy skin. 2. Never pa po ako nakagamit nito, tatalab kaya sa akin ito? Hahaha! Since I’m getting old, gusto ko po syang try kasi based on your own, marami syang magagandang skin benefits like reducing wrinkles and fine lines, then nagmo-moisturize at nagso-soften pa po sya ng skin in which even I’m on this age, kailangan ko pa din po yan.

  7. I was confused you said that the "green serenity" was for normal to dry skin. But on the packaging it says there "for oily skin" did they do false info of their packaging?

    1. Hi Jm,

Thanks for the heads-up. It was a typo. I edited it already. The green serenity is for oily skin.
